"So hook, why don't you pick on someone from your own size for once!" "What's this? Me old nemesis? I thought I've seen the last of you boy! Have at you!"
Fun Fact: This boss has two unique attributes no other boss has: A.) This is the only boss with 3 ways to beat him: 2 "Thinner/Miscreant" and 1 "Paint/Mascot" The only other boss that doesn't follow the 2 path rule is the final boss (True Phantom Blot), who is defeated the same way regardless of if you use Paint or Thinner. For those curious, you can either trick him into careening off the ship or just thin the barrel and have him slam into the walls a lot, both solutions give the "Miscreant"/Thinner ending for the boss. B.) The Paint/"Mascot" path requires you to climb the ships masts and free the fairy. Hook will try to stop you, but you can thin his clothes to stop him in embarassment as well as thin out bags of sand and sails. This makes this fight the only Paint route where you can use Thinner and not end up on the Thinner route.
I remember reading that a subplot of Epic Mickey 2 that was cut was a civil war between Hook and Blackbeard, although dialogue by Beluga Billy seems to be a relic of this subplot. I wish that they had kept it, as it would have not only made the game longer, but possibly given us a chance to encounter Hook again!
@@dinodisneylover1 Believe it or not, that was actually a plot point in a mega crossover fanfic between Treasure Island, Peter Pan and Pirates of the Carribean, Blackbeard is worried that Hook is the bosun prophesized to defeat him, leading him to seek the fountain of youth, but what he doesn't realize is that Long John Silver was a Bosun too...
This soundtrack my GOD! I never saw the fight i've only played epic mickey 2 but damn this makes me want to play epic mickey even more just to see this scene
In my opinion the first game is so much better than the second. Such a melancholic story and understandable characters with awesome bosses and legit creepy moments, not to mention the music! So yeah I do recommend you play the first one honestly
@@febbledebble this is what it seemed like to me! The second one takes place in a broken but still living world, in reconstruction (yeah, the thematic of a second chance and change) which is very Disney in the end and less dramatic (even if the song of the mad scientist is really deep). But the first game from what I saw, is extremely darker, and the all world seems less colorful, so yeah imma play it!
@@lilangeldreams2846 Hell yeah! Lemme know what you think. In all honesty, the camera angle can be a little annoying and uncomfortable at times and the parkour may feel a little out of place but personally I was able to forgive those aspects.
I have only played the first game but the boss fights in the game to me are amazing. Edit: Finally got the second game and it was pretty okay, but I liked the original better.
If I were to say the best boss in the game(excluding the final one), it would be the Captain Hook fight. The lighting, the strong wind, and the threat that the Captain poses is perfect
I agree, plus the Boss music with the captain slaps in my opinion. I think one of the worst boss fights is the Mad Doctor. It’s just too short and was alittle boring
A lot of the characters in Wasteland that are actually very well known (like Pete) are scrapped _versions_ of the characters like concept art, which is why they were forgotten, they never made it into the final movie
Yeah, you're right I always thought the same thing! That could be perfect for Captain Hook's battles from Jake and the Neverland pirates like in Neverland's rescue, Battle for the Book and the other episodes of season 3 and 4
Makes sense, since the soundtrack for COTBP had multiple people involved, each covering different sections. Klaus Badelt got the main credit, Hans Zimmer got some as well since he was originally brought on to work on it but couldn't complete it due to prior commitments, and Jim Dooley and Steve Jablonski helped as well. And of course, Jim also made, well, this song.
By the way there isn't either a way to be RUclips friends since that feature has been removed Also I think that many people know that you need to be sure to know someone to be friends with, I'm not complaining because I actually almost fell for one of those bots
When I played Epic Mickey when I was younger like around 14 I speed runned the game and finished the first run under 16 hours where I try to collect as much as possible and then for the second run I got the remaining Film reels, Pins, Gremlins, and Concept Art. So for me it was around 22 hours and the second run was a lot shorter because I didn’t need to care as much of the story but quickly run to area to area.
@@LewisTheBat I'm on like my third or fourth playthrough. Still haven't collected everything cause I keep forgetting what I intended to do and just admire the areas.
In a scrapped concept for sequel their was going to be a pirate war in Pirates of the Wasteland with Pirate Pete character where Captain Hook crew is fighting mysterious character named Blackbeard and his crew but didn’t make it into final game due to time constraints and the deadline. No information or concept art for Blackbeard character as been released or found.

Most "epic" rematch ever! Even if it's not really them.

We knew that Beard from Stranger Tides.
It has actually been known that Hook was Blackbeard's boatswain and the only man Long John Silver feared before he became a pirate captain himself.

Alternative universe: Hook finally defeats Pete Pan and takes over Ventureland. Epic Mickey, in this case, was (almost) a *that* possibility.
Now I would love to see that be a thing!
Alternative universe: Pete Pan almost took over Wasteland but then Hook and the sprite came to confront him
@@NotABadHomie That's a unexpected twist. Didn't think it that way.
Alternate : Mickey stunned Captain Hook, held him off long enough to rescue the sprite.

I would agree except the Paint path is so frustrating to complete. Other than that though it was a cool fight.
It's definitely my favorite boss in the game!
Can't wait to see hook in the remake
2:03 this should be playing when you are on the sails to rescue the fairy
Drink up,ye hearties.
I never understood why Hook is in the Wasteland, isn’t he one of Disney’s most iconic and memorable villains next to Maleficent and Oogie Boogie?
He was a robot built by Oswald and the mad doctor so the pirates had a leader and so Pete pan had an nemesis to fight.

To be fair, that's kind of what Pirates of the Wasteland is: It's a mashup of Peter Pan and the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland.
Captain Hook is A Codfish!!!

One question where did the artwork of Captain Hook come from

I wonder where this artwork of Captain Hook came from
scrapped part of the opening cutscene in epic mickey 2
Pirates of the Wasteland
From where does come this picture ?
I think it was meant to be apart of the opening cutscene of epic mickey 2 where it shows the bosses that mickey faced. Sadly it got scrapped :(
Apparently some powerhouse animation demo roll or something like that iirc

I kinda think Hook should have been the original blackbeard from the old version of the ride.
