I think that (maybe unintentionally) the toys are a great commentary on the bullshit ineffective “tough on crime” and “stranger danger” culture of the 80s. Like they’re comedically ineffective; “facial recognition technology” sounds great until you realize that it’s the 80s and security cameras look like shit, and the guy who’s doing the actual crimes is clearly not going to be on a crime database, as how would a previous offender have gotten such access to the restaurant and the kids in the first place? It kinda reminds you of the missing kid milk carton pictures
That's a very good reading. I was expecting the first sentence of the video to be about a general increase in kidnapped children in the 80s (which I don't actually know is true or if it was a perception thing. There was certainly an increase in the main cause of kidnapping, divorces, from previous decades) rather than just in Freddy's specifically. And of course the actual culprit is someone in a position of power instead of an outcast.

I'll always imagine the Toys as a Heathers-type friendgroup who all low-key hate each other but also wouldn't know what do with themselves without each other. Like maybe they're all overcompensating for the fact that they know they're remakes of an extremely popular media and there's literal ghosts in their closet haunting their restaurant. Idk, the toys are weirdly enough one of my favorite iterations of the FazGang, especially Mangle. While I love how the franchise tries to remake them every title I would have loved to see them and the Sister Location series come back for Easter eggs :,))
I think Mangle doing the bite would add more weight to the trauma angle. While I can't say whether the bite would be seen as part of the trauma or if it's seen as freedom (or both; each head could have a different perspective), it would be a clear breaking point.

The epilogues establish that you can indeed just decide not to if your time is not up by way of Jake. He was about to be free through a joyous memory akin to Happiest Day, but he didn't want to leave Andrew alone, so he focuses all attention on the material world and remains. Less to do with Henry, and more that she realized Afton was not, in fact, dead due to Andrew's unforeseen interference, and so she remained because her job was not done yet. Also important to remember that Charlie is asleep throughout the entirety of FFPS, so it's also likely that upon awakening by way of burning alive, she asserted her will at last and remained. All that remains is actually just the Puppet mask that the police find. But on the subject of her power, she is apparently able to reform herself to some degree. Or manipulate her form entirely. It's weird, but kind of awesome.
I never realized the puppet was made of felt I thought the texturing was just like old gross plastic or something. Somehow that makes the design so much more interesting
I've always love the idea of mangles endo head being separately conscious, and I felt really validated when they showed that in AR. I really wonder what their dynamic is like, they clearly have differing personalities and outlooks, coping differently with what they are.
When it comes to who caused the bite of 87 it had to be the one of Toys, because if one of the Withered who managed to leave parts & service, and then bite someone’s frontal lobe off in front of guests especially children then we would have been dealing with the Toys in the first game. Because it would have made no scene for Fazbear Entertainment to scrap the newer and far more expensive robots(especially if they really did think the Toys were only malfunctioning) who didn’t bite anyone, and instead keep the older ones who just bit a chunk out of someone’s brain.
I agree. All the evidence from the week before indicating that it was Foxy equally applies to Mangle. She's toy Foxy, and people within Fnaf aren't going to think of him as a separate character, but a different manifestation of the same character

It's funny, when FNaF 2 first came out Toy Bonnie was mostly known for causing a lot of gender confusion around Bonnie as a whole, but now he's mostly remembered for having even more of the "was also there" energy than the original, just kinda being a presence you don't notice unless specifically pointed out.
I understand that the employees got tired of fixing mangle up but you would think a broken animatronic would be even more dangerous to have around a child compared to an animatronic that’s in perfect condition. I swear this game had sm animatronics and as all sequels go Scott made sure to go bigger.

It kind of sucks that the toys were scrapped after only about a week, but it also makes sense. If you count the D.C.I (dead children's incident) as canon, then not only did one of them (Mangle) potentially cause the Bite of 87, but they also failed in their primary role: keeping kids safe. Because not only is this the place where Charlie likely died, but William was able to get away with killing 5 other kids during the restaurant's first week. Not only was the main feature that separated these animatronics from their originals completely useless, the bite proved that these things were actually MORE DANGEROUS than their predecessors due to one of them outright attacking someone and taking out their frontal lobe.

Probably artistic freedom on his part, not _too_ sure why, but I have some theories: 1) He may have purposefully chosen a different unique alias instead of just using "Toy" for the fourth time. 2) He probably wanted Foxy to have a scary aesthetic, that would slightly fit in better. There's no (visible) stage in Kids' Cove, so, he'd likely view having an animatronic pirate fox out and about potentially being dangerous. Because a take-apart-put-back-together "attraction" makes SO much more sense.
I'll mention my comment from the Toy Bonnie vid here, a theory that William used the safe room and the Spring Bonnie outfit in order to hide in plain sight while casing the new restaurant, hacking the facial recognition software during the first few days. As for Mangle, I think they could be pulled apart so easily was because Fazbear Ent. had a rookie put them together, only to forget the bolts that connect the plastic to the endo, while the second head was meant to be an early version of a parrot, similar to Rockstar Foxy. Also, obligatory Venom quote that I don't remember.
I’ve always been a Bonnie fan ever since the original FNAF game. But FNAF 2 genuinely cemented my love of Bonnie with both versions. The Withered Bonnie and the Toy Bonnie animatronics are so uncanny and creepy in very different ways! Withered Bonnie has been my all-time favorite ever since. I *love* the voice they gave him too. The cameo he made in Help Wanted also made me very happy ☺️
It still feels like the whole Toy Foxy = Funtime Foxy debacle was a genuine mistake on Scott's part. It sounds possible that he put Toy Foxy in FNaF World, but as he was working on FNaF 5 at the same time he decided "Oh yeah, pink and white fox, this is Funtime Foxy" and he's just refused to retcon them back to normal. Can't truly read his mind though, so this will torment me forever.
I will say on the dog mangle theory, that in all fairness, if you hooked up a dog to a high-tech robot with things like facial recognition and a general "mechanical brain" about a thousand times stronger, and had it around humans constantly talking about various things you can see in the environment, that it would probably pick up a few things, combined with the in-built voicebank and pre-recorded lines and the scenarios they work in quick edit: also the voicelines are dubiously canon
This will be one of my first comments or maybe the first I've commented on your channel despite being a fan for quite awhile, but the reason I am going to now is because Toy Freddy is my absolute FAVORITE animatronic, like absolute favorite I cannot express how much I love the silly slightly chubby bear, the only reason I can think of is because the fandom sort of bullied him, so I'm very empathetic towards him, he's just so cute and absolutely can't wait to see him on the big screen, I will cry, that's for sure
Something that I feel like doesn’t get told much is that while the Funtimes are very Advance for being in the 80s/90s the Toys are also Pretty Advance with Facial Recognition and being tied to a Criminal Database. If Help Wanted 2 ever gets a DLC they should definitely bring back the Toy Animatronics along with others, here are some ideas I think would be cool. 1. A Fnaf 2 Minigame where we have to actually Program the Toy Animatronics and give them their Child Safety Features. 2. A Fnaf 6 Minigame where we’re setting up the Rockstar Animatronics to go on the Stage and Preparing them for a Performance. 3. A Fnaf 2 Minigame where we’re setting have to use the Freddy Mask to Leave the Building without Arousing Suspicion from the Toy Animatronics. 4. A Fnaf Sister Location Parts and Service Minigame where we have to Fix one of the Funtimes. 5. A Fnaf 4 Minigame where we’re have to Survive against Nightmarionne.
Isn't Nightmarionne already in HW? I don't play it personally and can't remember the last time I saw someone play, so I can't remember, but I think it's one of the later levels in Night Terrors (Might be the Hard Mode level)
The toy animatronics are my favorite design wise. They're just so fun and colorful! Toy Freddy getting such an out-of-left-field personality change in UCN is hilarious to me. I wish they had all gotten really bizarre and quirky mechanics and personalities. More childish, perhaps, than the others to fit the toy design?
Hopefully that does happen, since their personalities haven't been fully set in stone, there's room to change them (unlike someone like glamrock Freddy)

Facial recognition technology goes back to the 1960s. It wasn’t perfect, of course, but the research was well underway. It wouldn’t have been new in the 80s, although using it for children’s animatronics would certainly be novel. Considering how useless they were though, they probably weren’t even that impressive.

As a Child of the 80s myself, there could be an easy explanation for the toys in FNAF4: They are toys OF the animatronics that predate and inspired the Toy Animatronics. Timeline: 198X [sometime before the bite of 83]: Fredbear's Family Diner opens with Fredbear and Spring Bonnie pure animatronics on stage and employees [by the books William and Henry] in non-animatronic mascot fursuits. around 1983: The Springlock suits are created and what becomes Fazbear Entertainment approaches Fredbear's to make a cartoon and toy line. To be more marketable, they expand the roster to 4 characters and color-code them to make them more recognizable to children. The toys are loosely based on early concepts for the animation models and are physically distorted to articulate and produce more easily. Some parts were made of softer rubber to avoid injury, that can be easily removed [Chica's beak, Foxy's hook]. around 1985: based on the success of both Fredbear's Family Diner, and the Fredbear & Friends cartoon and toys, a new location is opened with a mix of the new cartoon characters and the Springlock diner characters [and an experimental security/babysitter character: The Puppet, it does coexist with the classics]: Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. Shenanigans ensue, kids go missing, place shuts down [but Fredbear's might still squeak by, I don't think it is stated in game when it closes] 1987: With the original Freddy's closed [and presumably by this time, the original Fredbear's as well] and the cartoon going into syndication [it is approaching 5 years old, ready for re-runs], Fazbear Entertainment opens "The New Freddy Fazbear's Pizza" [possibly Jr's, as in Freddy Junior's Pizza] with new animatronics incorporating improved security features based on the Puppet, and styled after the distorted but wildly popular action figure line, hence the "Toy Animatronics". The Rest is seen in main game play. This happened IRL with TMNT and Transformers, in the comics, all 4 turtles wore red masks, only their weapons and belt monograms identified them. The cartoon, toys and video games changed them to 4 different colored masks to more easily identify them. With Transformers, many toys looked very different from their cartoon version, the first set of characters [pre 86 movie] were designed on the toys, often from grainy faxed dot-matrix images of bad camera angles. The Movie characters were the opposite, the animations were done first, and the toys based on early drafts of the animation models. Artist revisions, and the need to actually hide a vehicle in a humanoid led to some looking very different than they did in the movie. Also any sharp bits were made from soft rubber and tension-fit with pegs. Enough rough play could make them pop out. Shredder's Blades and the ends of the Turtles' bandannas were like this]

I think it is “kinda” important to note that nightmare balloon boy is only cannon halloween animatronic in fnaf 4. Meaning that balloon boy had to be present in fnaf 4 somehow. Im pretty sure the actual gameplay part of fnaf 4 is currently pretty debated because we don’t really know who we play as but nevertheless it is vary interesting especially because the nightmare puppet isn’t cannon(specifically in fnaf 4 it is cannon in HW onward) because we know the puppet is an older animatronic compared to all of the others
I liked this analysis of the toy animatronics, just one thing you forgot to mention was mangle being a phantom in the third, aside from bb and puppet ofc, but overall this was enjoyable to watch
FNAF 2 was got me in to the series back in primary school when I saw some boys playing it. While my favourite FNAF 1 animatronic was Foxy, Toy Chica was my favourite Toy. She reminded me of a Disney character. ☺️
I'm very sorry, but when I saw the text at the top of the thumbnail, I 100% read it in a Yoda voice saying "Save them, you can't." which was much more hilarious to me than it should've been.
So, in one of the later night calls from Phone Guy in FNAF2, he mentions that there is something "weird" with the toy animatronics. "Around the kids the yare fine but around adults they just... stare..." This is theorized to be them trying to search their database for facial matches, which has been tampered with by William. By the time the final night rolls around, the toys only know it's a *Uniformed Employee who got too close to the kids.* The other reason Mangle fits as the one who bites is that said employee is instructed to be in uniform during a birthday party and Mangle, we know, is permitted to be interacted with by the kids themselves, and if the employee is near the kids or even, say, attempting to dissuade them from messing with Mangle, then it stands to reason that Mangle would conclude the kid was in danger and attack. This would be why the toys were disposed of and the old animatronics dug out.

I hope in the 2nd movie they just say who did the bite of ‘87. With no buildup or fanfare, just Mike and Vanessa or someone walking through the pizzeria being introduced to the animatronics, and someone says “oh yeah, you know the bite of ‘87? It was Mangle.” And then they immediately move on.
22:51 I still fully believe that Cassidy was supposed to be the name of Henry’s daughter not Charlie, and that the logbook was meant to tell us the names of Crying Child and the Puppet. -Both children of one of the founding members of Freddy’s -CC was the first kid to die setting off the plot, and Puppet was the first one to be murdered -The two spirits in the book are obviously the puppet and crying child -It makes sense the book would give the only two unnamed main characters and the only two characters with hidden gravestones their names at the same time

I've said it before a thousand times on a thousand other channels, but reiteration never hurts; I _LOVE_ the 80's series animatronics , my retro-aesthetic hyperfixation notwithstanding. The Classics may be the face of the series, especially after the movie, but the Withered and Toy animatronics are practically radiating the tragedy and horror of the MCIs. FNaF 2 is quite possibly my favorite of the series not just because of its mounds of exposition, but because even going in with no knowledge of the series like I did as a child a decade ago, you can tell something is absolutely not right with them. *They* are the face of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, and they are _my_ Fazcrew.

I'm writing this before watching all the way through and I know you talked about it in his dedicated video, so I don't know if you bring it up here- but I don't get why Bonnie's voice is so different from his band mates. I get the reference you brought up, but it's so jarring how he has a squeaky voice when no one else (not even the puppet) does. I'm hoping his voice is different in the movie with a country style - Peter Cottontail voice.
huh. yknow, mentioning the "mangle is suzies lost puppy" theory and then describing balloon boy... bb being the lost puppy makes more sense? 1. no other voicelines but the ones that are presumably programmed into the animatronic: a human might work out ways to communicate through the machine but a dog would probably just hit the noisemaker, the dog could be barking in its hit but it comes out as "hello" and "hi" or a laugh 2. battery stealing: the kids are out for revenge but a puppy might recognise the batteries have something that powers the body- like food, and start seeking them out, or could be encouraged to take them by another ghost 3. his "inconvenience you so the other animatronics can get you" manoeuvre is much closer to how dogs help owners that are hunting than mangle. dogs will often nip at preys heels or run around it barking to distract it while the owner spears or shoots it, this is kind of an instinctive behaviour that can be observed in completely untrained dogs, especially small ones im sure theres plenty more i could dig up, and plenty that would disprove my little pet theory, but its a fun idea

They closed the 1984~1986* location to update and remodel the restaurant after the merging of “Afton Robotics, LLC.” with “FazBear Enterprises”-which led to the true Establishment of “FazBear Entertainment Inc.” This is why we were welcomed to the “New & Improved” Freddy FazBear’s. With how Scott called Mangle Funtime Foxy initially makes me wonder if the Toys were originally gonna be called the Funtimes, but somewhere during development he changed his mind and just reused the name later for SL. As for the Toys being haunted, I wish that would get elaborated on sometime; especially if the DCI has anything to do with it.
When you think about it, the Glamrocks have interesting parallels with the Toys. The Freddys aren’t malicious and are friendly to others, only becoming hostile when controlled or confused. Toy Bonnie and Roxy have egos bigger than Fazbear Entertainment itself. We don’t TRULY see what Mangle and Glamrock Bonnie looked like before being broken (we only see those forms in FNaF World and cutouts, respectively). The Chicas share the same body shape and have their beaks removed at some point. The Daycare Attendant and Balloon Boy can be mischievous (and also are connected through the arcade game). Sun and Balloon Boy also don’t have a jumpscare in their original games but gained one later. I… don’t think I have one for Monty, Marionette, or JJ, but my point is that the parallels are probably more than a coincidence. (Or maybe they are; you never know these days) Also fun fact: JJ has an unused line in FNaF World where she swears lol
It's debatable if the Daycare Attendant counts as a Glamrock (I doubt it), but otherwise pretty spot on. The JJ line is an outtake which means Scott deliberately left it in lol.
Basically the idea is that afton commited the save them incident to replicate what happened with the mci, if he thought that the past experiment didn't work Or that he wanted to cause more harm But its on that incident that he learns that you don't need to stuff children into the suits They need to be close to the animatronics to it work And it worked
I have a personal theory that the bite of '87 might have taken place the day before night 6. On Night 3 Phone Guy mentions tragic events, which could be the deceased childrens incident. The investigation and the animatronics acting weirdly is already mentioned on Night 4, so the DCI has definetely taken place by then. In the call on Night 6 Phone Guy seems especially afraid of the animatronics, which indicates they did something bad. A possible timeline of events could be that one of the employees (not William Afton) donned a yellow spare suit (not necessarily spring bonnie) during the day because the animatronics were being uncooperative. This however set the animatronics of, as that employee was now walking around, interacting with children, just like William Afton did when he kidnapped the children before. Eventually one of the animatronics attacked that employee in an attempt to save the children, biting him in the head. The biggest problem with this theory is that how could Freddy's still host a birthday party after that event? Well, if the bite didn't take place that day, perhaps this was atleast prelude to it. I love your videos by the way. Great coverage of the characters.
Late Comment but I just wanted to say that I really love this video!, The Toys are my favorite in the series (especially Toy Freddy), they really left their mark on the series. Also I wanted to give my two cents on why the Toys are aggressive in FNaF 2, I don't think their possessed rather they are influence by the Puppet itself, kinda like Charlie is playing a chess game against Jeremy Fitzgerald, and the Toys are her pawns, it could also somewhat explain the bite, if Jeremy was staying close to Mangle/Toy Foxy, and The Puppet was influencing them, well, 2 + 2 = A missing frontal lobe. Anyway, that's just my theory on the matter, great video and have a great day!
Interesting connection to say that the toys being literal toys in fnaf4 could mean they're happening at the same time. I had always seen the literal toys as such a solid piece of evidence for dream theory that i never considered they could have another meaning. We know that after Dave's death William started trying to learn about remnant and ghosts, which makes sense with the fnaf2 mini games where Willy is taking apart the remnant infused animatronics. Plus that gives an actual motive for all those random corpses lying around in the same mini game!

I'd love if all the tpy animatronics were sassier in the movie. Make them more childish in actions (I know the FNAF 1 gang were all children, but as animatronics they didn't really feel like it, if you get what I'm saying)

I feel that the whole seeing you powerless is like music to me mean more like that seeing afton powerless is something that brings them joy like music rather than actually seeing music
While Toy Bonnie is the only animatronic who does the shrinking-pupils thing, he's also pretty much the only one who seems to scan you with eyes visible. Toy Chica, while intended to scroll across the screen similarly, doesn't, but both in the broken image for that and her later depiction in UCN, as well as in the entire process of approaching the office, her eyes have no irises at all, and are just that pinprick of light in unnatural darkness that made the classics in FNaF 1 feel so haunted in the first place when juxtaposed with their otherwise unmoving counterparts. I believe Toy Chica is actually one of the more aggressive animatronics in 2, which might be why she almost always looks like that - for a character the Help Wanted games and Security Breach depicted as a literal siren, luring others to their deaths, she doesn't do a lot of luring in her debut game. Anyways, Toy Freddy does the same thing with his eyes during his office render, glaring down at you with points of light instead of his normal shade of blue, and neither BB nor Mangle actually have scan animations in that way, with both slipping out unseen when successfully warded off. The damning part indicating their possession would be that the Puppet and, as previously mentioned, the classics do the same thing with their eyes, and those are animatronics who are most definitely haunted. That and, as described in Special Delivery's lore emails, Mangle never actually could move like that, and did so supernaturally. It's possible that the first game's seeming implication that the ghosts aren't always in the animatronics, and just move them around in between possibly resting or messing with other aspects of the building (later supported by the movie doing this, and sort of TSE though it's incredibly subtle), that the Toys are possessed by the same spirits as the Withereds, but it's hard to say particularly when there's apparently 2 or 3 missing children incidents around these groups. Maybe it's just crowded in there. The game moved far enough away from ghosts entirely that nothing has really disproven that they work this way, aside from the matchup of five children and five characters, and peoples' assumptions reinforced by being repeated and interpreted as fact over time in an echo chamber effect. The Toys have some of the most unique designs of the series, something I think is overlooked. Mangle is one of the most inhumanoid characters in the whole franchise, even including the wire spaghetti that becomes so common later on and whatever random blobs Afton has (rivaled maybe by the Music Man characters we've gotten as well), and that unique design still earns respect. And BB and the Puppet are also pretty unique, though the latter has had quite a few different characters take after the design, notably Ennard and the Minireenas, while the former is really just both the first independent small animatronic we saw and the first human mascot we saw, and remained a fan-favorite gremlin. And if I might rant about Mangle's design, Mangle has a lot of details assumed by some models that aren't actually present in FNaF 2. In the game, Mangle's 'blackened eye' is a hollow socket, the eye for which is sitting on the floor next to them in the Kid's Cove render - a third eye, to go along with their second head, four legs, three feet and two left hands. The hook, while somewhat supported by the aforementioned two left hands, is not actually Mangle's in that teaser render - Foxy, the FNaF 1 design used in said teaser, uses his own hook, while Mangle's side uses Withered Foxy's bigger and rounder hook. FNaF World included a hook, though, so I suppose we just never got an official model for it. And, while their namesake, the actual Funtime line Funtime Foxy, has that massive tail, Mangle in FNaF 2 has a copy of Toy Bonnie's tail attached to their waist section, though this could be a placeholder or a component mistakenly placed in with the existing mess. And Mangle's jaw is broken - hanging limply open or resting against their head when upside-down in all original renders - denoted by the wiring used in FNaF 2 to show major damage, plainly obvious on the Withereds and other places on Mangle like the endo head's missing eye. FNaF merch has never been great about consistency to details - just see most Springtrap or Chica merch not even having the right eye colors, for instance - and Mangle's is often no different, nor is every game perfectly faithful to the source material of the characters it uses, such as Help Wanted and Special Delivery. SD Mangle isn't even the original Mangle, just a robot made to look the same, so the voice lines there mean little for the original, and how real the UCN characters are is still debated now. Nearly every voice line save for what SL had going on is basically not canon to the original characters in their games. It's a wild place in there. And there's the bite. The fabled Bite of '87, which was later retconned entirely out of continuity by a teaser image being updated, subject of so many theories. Despite what people tend to say, I don't think anything has ever truly confirmed who bit who, particularly given it hasn't existed since FNaF 4, but people sure do say things regardless. 'Mangle bites from above' is not that great of an argument when the other animatronics also tower above you in their renders and their bite target may well have been sitting down at the time, or been a child, and when Mangle's own jaw doesn't even seem to work. Honorable mention to Endo-02, who probably was as a Toy animatronic due to being fully intact, though reuses the Withered model's components, as admittedly does Mangle. A spooky setpiece indeed that I wish could show up a bit more often, as while I'm unsure if the rest of the animatronics actually do roam randomly in 2 like Bonnie and Chica did in 1, this roaming endoskeleton made it feel like there was more going on than just you specifically being hunted.
"a fate that would be worse than death if william afton wasnt william afton" nicely said. i watched a video over a year ago where somebody complained that in pizzaria sim, it feels like afton isnt punished for his sins at all and he saw it as a bad thing, in the meantime it is obvious that somebody like him would cherish the new powers that come along with being in a suit so strong that it can break through bones with ease, and he cant really die. punishing afton always goes horribly wrong, which is why i have the theory that he can even use the agony created in ucn to outlive fire and hell and anything, and the princess wasnt successful at all in punishing him because it again was a punishment that caused agony.

34:39 I like The Unwithered Truth's current idea that Funtime Foxy is a shared cross-promotion between Circus Baby's Pizza World and the 87 Location, but not exactly the same robot in each game. Shared mascot under the Fazbear brand, but likely The Mangle is an extremely complicated and expensive to repair model as you need to call up Afton Industries to properly do the job even if the Mangle likely never had all of the "quirks" Sister Location's model had. Not hand it to the fry-cook and expect a functional robot 10 minutes before opening. Thus explains the real reasons why The Mangle was so easy for children to take apart as if kids cove could cannibalize a robot like a school of piranha to a rotisserie chicken, well then why weren't some of these same grubby mitts also shredding the other toys whenever they left the playpin for cake or a show? Repairs alone probably were an arm and a leg to the franchisee of New Freddy Fazbear Pizza just for the Toys. The Mangle, likely cost even more as it goes through different departments and whatever fiscal sadism Afton would like to inflict. In a company as criminally negligent as this, oh yeah, I could easily see departmental backstabbing and overcharging each other for a quick buck. So yeah, sell the broken machine as a build your own robot center, let the tikes prove themselves to be future Faztech Imaginieers.
Is it just me or are there a surprising amount of parallels between the Toys and the Glamrocks? For starters, the poster at 0:44 closely resembles one of the ad screens in Security Breach, not to mention the similar themes of new, plastic robots made to never harm children and perform security. But even individually, Toy Freddy’s friendly demeanor in AR matches Glamrock Freddy’s friendliness in SB and Toy Chica’s beak being missing matches Shattered Chica’s beak being missing (and the slimmer figure, though Funtime Chica has that too). Toy Bonnie’s “Better than everyone” mentality fits surprisingly well with the idea that Monty killed Glamrock Bonnie out of jealousy. Maybe Glamrock Bonnie acted like Toy Bonnie, which drove Monty to murder? And if course, Mangle and Roxy being the only feminine-presenting Foxy variants, and Mangle’s façade of owning their brokenness pretty closely matches Roxy’s entire personality and arc in SB/Ruin/HW2 You could even argue that there are similarities between the Puppet and the Daycare Attendant, such as having their own area of the building (prize counter/daycare), being made of different materials than the main band, a still mask for a face rather than any moving features, and of course the floating. Details like the overall “family-friendly” vibe of both Security Breach irl and the Pizzaplex in universe and the similar story of children going missing, animatronics acting weird, and the eventual closure of both establishments match surprisingly well, too. All of this makes me wonder if Steel Wool took inspo from FNAF 2 when designing Security Breach.

I forgot where we get this information from, but it is pretty explicitly said that the reason the withereds looks like this is because an attempt was made to redesign them, but they stopped midway

I think that (maybe unintentionally) the toys are a great commentary on the bullshit ineffective “tough on crime” and “stranger danger” culture of the 80s. Like they’re comedically ineffective; “facial recognition technology” sounds great until you realize that it’s the 80s and security cameras look like shit, and the guy who’s doing the actual crimes is clearly not going to be on a crime database, as how would a previous offender have gotten such access to the restaurant and the kids in the first place? It kinda reminds you of the missing kid milk carton pictures
That's a very good reading. I was expecting the first sentence of the video to be about a general increase in kidnapped children in the 80s (which I don't actually know is true or if it was a perception thing. There was certainly an increase in the main cause of kidnapping, divorces, from previous decades) rather than just in Freddy's specifically. And of course the actual culprit is someone in a position of power instead of an outcast.

I'll always imagine the Toys as a Heathers-type friendgroup who all low-key hate each other but also wouldn't know what do with themselves without each other. Like maybe they're all overcompensating for the fact that they know they're remakes of an extremely popular media and there's literal ghosts in their closet haunting their restaurant. Idk, the toys are weirdly enough one of my favorite iterations of the FazGang, especially Mangle. I think Mangle doing the bite would add more weight to the trauma angle. While I can't say whether the bite would be seen as part of the trauma or if it's seen as freedom (or both; each head could have a different perspective), it would be a clear breaking point.

The epilogues establish that you can indeed just decide not to if your time is not up by way of Jake. He was about to be free through a joyous memory akin to Happiest Day, but he didn't want to leave Andrew alone, so he focuses all attention on the material world and remains. Less to do with Henry, and more that she realized Afton was not, in fact, dead due to Andrew's unforeseen interference, and so she remained because her job was not done yet.
Also important to remember that Charlie is asleep throughout the entirety of FFPS, so it's also likely that upon awakening by way of burning alive, she asserted her will at last and remained. All that remains is actually just the Puppet mask that the police find. But on the subject of her power, she is apparently able to reform herself to some degree. Or manipulate her form entirely. It's weird, but kind of awesome.
I never realized the puppet was made of felt I thought the texturing was just like old gross plastic or something. Somehow that makes the design so much more interesting

I've always love the idea of mangles endo head being separately conscious, and I felt really validated when they showed that in AR. I really wonder what their dynamic is like, they clearly have differing personalities and outlooks, coping differently with what they are.
I like the idea of, in an attempt to distract him, Toy Bonnie being showered with compliments by one or multiple human characters in the second film.
When it comes to who caused the bite of 87 it had to be the one of Toys, because if one of the Withered who managed to leave parts & service, and then bite someone’s frontal lobe off in front of guests especially children then we would have been dealing with the Toys in the first game. Because it would have made no scene for Fazbear Entertainment to scrap the newer and far more expensive robots(especially if they really did think the Toys were only malfunctioning) who didn’t bite anyone, and instead keep the older ones who just bit a chunk out of someone’s brain.

It's funny, when FNaF 2 first came out Toy Bonnie was mostly known for causing a lot of gender confusion around Bonnie as a whole, but now he's mostly remembered for having even more of the "was also there" energy than the original, just kinda being a presence you don't notice unless specifically pointed out.

It kind of sucks that the toys were scrapped after only about a week, but it also makes sense. If you count the D.C.I (dead children's incident) as canon, then not only did one of them (Mangle) potentially cause the Bite of 87, but they also failed in their primary role: keeping kids safe. Because not only is this the place where Charlie likely died, but William was able to get away with killing 5 other kids during the restaurant's first week. Not only was the main feature that separated these animatronics from their originals completely useless, the bite proved that these things were actually MORE DANGEROUS than their predecessors due to one of them outright attacking someone and taking out their frontal lobe.
Although they May have been used for more, Maybe 3-4 month, Since in the recordings Phone guy mentions it's a summer Job but the check at The end says it's november suggesting they haven't changed the tape in a while
why “Toy Foxy” wasn’t the name Scott went with will always make me scratch my head
Probably artistic freedom on his part, not _too_ sure why, but I have some theories:
1) He may have purposefully chosen a different unique alias instead of just using "Toy" for the fourth time.
2) He probably wanted Foxy to have a scary aesthetic, that would slightly fit in better. There's no (visible) stage in Kids' Cove, so, he'd likely view having an animatronic pirate fox out and about potentially being dangerous. Because a take-apart-put-back-together "attraction" makes SO much more sense.
I'll mention my comment from the Toy Bonnie vid here, a theory that William used the safe room and the Spring Bonnie outfit in order to hide in plain sight while casing the new restaurant, hacking the facial recognition software during the first few days.
As for Mangle, I think they could be pulled apart so easily was because Fazbear Ent. had a rookie put them together, only to forget the bolts that connect the plastic to the endo, while the second head was meant to be an early version of a parrot, similar to Rockstar Foxy. Also, obligatory Venom quote that I don't remember.
I’ve always been a Bonnie fan ever since the original FNAF game. But FNAF 2 genuinely cemented my love of Bonnie with both versions. The Withered Bonnie and the Toy Bonnie animatronics are so uncanny and creepy in very different ways! Withered Bonnie has been my all-time favorite ever since. I *love* the voice they gave him too. The cameo he made in Help Wanted also made me very happy ☺️
It still feels like the whole Toy Foxy = Funtime Foxy debacle was a genuine mistake on Scott's part. It sounds possible that he put Toy Foxy in FNaF World, but as he was working on FNaF 5 at the same time he decided "Oh yeah, pink and white fox, this is Funtime Foxy" and he's just refused to retcon them back to normal. Can't truly read his mind though, so this will torment me forever.

I will say on the dog mangle theory, that in all fairness, if you hooked up a dog to a high-tech robot with things like facial recognition and a general "mechanical brain" about a thousand times stronger, and had it around humans constantly talking about various things you can see in the environment, that it would probably pick up a few things, combined with the in-built voicebank and pre-recorded lines and the scenarios they work in

This will be one of my first comments or maybe the first I've commented on your channel despite being a fan for quite awhile, but the reason I am going to now is because Toy Freddy is my absolute FAVORITE animatronic, like absolute favorite I cannot express how much I love the silly slightly chubby bear, the only reason I can think of is because the fandom sort of bullied him, so I'm very empathetic towards him, he's just so cute and absolutely can't wait to see him on the big screen, I will cry, that's for sure
I can't wait to see if they give him the same walk cycle as in Help Wanted. ^_^

Something that I feel like doesn’t get told much is that while the Funtimes are very Advance for being in the 80s/90s the Toys are also Pretty Advance with Facial Recognition and being tied to a Criminal Database.
If Help Wanted 2 ever gets a DLC they should definitely bring back the Toy Animatronics along with others, here are some ideas I think would be cool.

Toy Freddy getting such an out-of-left-field personality change in UCN is hilarious to me. I wish they had all gotten really bizarre and quirky mechanics and personalities. More childish, perhaps, than the others to fit the toy design?
Hopefully that does happen, since their personalities haven't been fully set in stone, there's room to change them (unlike someone like glamrock Freddy)

Facial recognition technology goes back to the 1960s. It wasn’t perfect, of course, but the research was well underway. It wouldn’t have been new in the 80s, although using it for children’s animatronics would certainly be novel.
Considering how useless they were though, they probably weren’t even that impressive.

As a Child of the 80s myself, there could be an easy explanation for the toys in FNAF4: They are toys OF the animatronics that predate and inspired the Toy Animatronics.
Timeline:
198X [sometime before the bite of 83]: Fredbear's Family Diner opens with Fredbear and Spring Bonnie pure animatronics on stage and employees [by the books William and Henry] in non-animatronic mascot fursuits.
around 1983: The Springlock suits are created and what becomes Fazbear Entertainment approaches Fredbear's to make a cartoon and toy line. To be more marketable, they expand the roster to 4 characters and color-code them to make them more recognizable to children. The toys are loosely based on early concepts for the animation models and are physically distorted to articulate and produce more easily. Some parts were made of softer rubber to avoid injury, that can be easily removed [Chica's beak, Foxy's hook].
around 1985: based on the success of both Fredbear's Family Diner, and the Fredbear & Friends cartoon and toys, a new location is opened with a mix of the new cartoon characters and the Springlock diner characters [and an experimental security/babysitter character: The Puppet, it does coexist with the classics]: Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. Shenanigans ensue, kids go missing, place shuts down [but Fredbear's might still squeak by, I don't think it is stated in game when it closes]
1987: With the original Freddy's closed [and presumably by this time, the original Fredbear's as well] and the cartoon going into syndication [it is approaching 5 years old, ready for re-runs], Fazbear Entertainment opens "The New Freddy Fazbear's Pizza" [possibly Jr's, as in Freddy Junior's Pizza] with new animatronics incorporating improved security features based on the Puppet, and styled after the distorted but wildly popular action figure line, hence the "Toy Animatronics".
The Rest is seen in main game play.
This happened IRL with TMNT and Transformers, in the comics, all 4 turtles wore red masks, only their weapons and belt monograms identified them. The cartoon, toys and video games changed them to 4 different colored masks to more easily identify them.
With Transformers, many toys looked very different from their cartoon version, the first set of characters [pre 86 movie] were designed on the toys, often from grainy faxed dot-matrix images of bad camera angles. The Movie characters were the opposite, the animations were done first, and the toys based on early drafts of the animation models. Artist revisions, and the need to actually hide a vehicle in a humanoid led to some looking very different than they did in the movie.
Also any sharp bits were made from soft rubber and tension-fit with pegs. Enough rough play could make them pop out. Shredder's Blades and the ends of the Turtles' bandannas were like this]

I think it is “kinda” important to note that nightmare balloon boy is only cannon halloween animatronic in fnaf 4. Meaning that balloon boy had to be present in fnaf 4 somehow. Im pretty sure the actual gameplay part of fnaf 4 is currently pretty debated because we don’t really know who we play as but nevertheless it is vary interesting especially because the nightmare puppet isn’t cannon(specifically in fnaf 4 it is cannon in HW onward) because we know the puppet is an older animatronic compared to all of the others
I liked this analysis of the toy animatronics, just one thing you forgot to mention was mangle being a phantom in the third, aside from bb and puppet ofc, but overall this was enjoyable to watch
FNAF 2 was got me in to the series back in primary school when I saw some boys playing it. While my favourite FNAF 1 animatronic was Foxy, Toy Chica was my favourite Toy. She reminded me of a Disney character. ☺️

So, in one of the later night calls from Phone Guy in FNAF2, he mentions that there is something "weird" with the toy animatronics. "Around the kids the yare fine but around adults they just... stare..."
This is theorized to be them trying to search their database for facial matches, which has been tampered with by William. By the time the final night rolls around, the toys only know it's a *Uniformed Employee who got too close to the kids.*
The other reason Mangle fits as the one who bites is that said employee is instructed to be in uniform during a birthday party and Mangle, we know, is permitted to be interacted with by the kids themselves, and if the employee is near the kids or even, say, attempting to dissuade them from messing with Mangle, then it stands to reason that Mangle would conclude the kid was in danger and attack. This would be why the toys were disposed of and the old animatronics dug out.

I've said it before a thousand times on a thousand other channels, but reiteration never hurts; I _LOVE_ the 80's series animatronics , my retro-aesthetic hyperfixation notwithstanding. The Classics may be the face of the series, especially after the movie, but the Withered and Toy animatronics are practically radiating the tragedy and horror of the MCIs. FNaF 2 is quite possibly my favorite of the series not just because of its mounds of exposition, but because even going in with no knowledge of the series like I did as a child a decade ago, you can tell something is absolutely not right with them. *They* are the face of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, and they are _my_ Fazcrew.

yknow, mentioning the "mangle is suzies lost puppy" theory and then describing balloon boy... bb being the lost puppy makes more sense?
1. no other voicelines but the ones that are presumably programmed into the animatronic: a human might work out ways to communicate through the machine but a dog would probably just hit the noisemaker, the dog could be barking in its hit but it comes out as "hello" and "hi" or a laugh
2. battery stealing: the kids are out for revenge but a puppy might recognise the batteries have something that powers the body- like food, and start seeking them out, or could be encouraged to take them by another ghost
3. his "inconvenience you so the other animatronics can get you" manoeuvre is much closer to how dogs help owners that are hunting than mangle. dogs will often nip at preys heels or run around it barking to distract it while the owner spears or shoots it, this is kind of an instinctive behaviour that can be observed in completely untrained dogs, especially small ones
im sure theres plenty more i could dig up, and plenty that would disprove my little pet theory, but its a fun idea

As for the Toys being haunted, I wish that would get elaborated on sometime; especially if the DCI has anything to do with it.

When you think about it, the Glamrocks have interesting parallels with the Toys.
The Freddys aren’t malicious and are friendly to others, only becoming hostile when controlled or confused.
Toy Bonnie and Roxy have egos bigger than Fazbear Entertainment itself.
We don’t TRULY see what Mangle and Glamrock Bonnie looked like before being broken (we only see those forms in FNaF World and cutouts, respectively).
The Chicas share the same body shape and have their beaks removed at some point.
The Daycare Attendant and Balloon Boy can be mischievous (and also are connected through the arcade game). Sun and Balloon Boy also don’t have a jumpscare in their original games but gained one later.
I… don’t think I have one for Monty, Marionette, or JJ, but my point is that the parallels are probably more than a coincidence. (Or maybe they are; you never know these days)

It's debatable if the Daycare Attendant counts as a Glamrock (I doubt it), but otherwise pretty spot on. The JJ line is an outtake which means Scott deliberately left it in lol.
Basically the idea is that afton commited the save them incident to replicate what happened with the mci, if he thought that the past experiment didn't work
Or that he wanted to cause more harm
But its on that incident that he learns that you don't need to stuff children into the suits
They need to be close to the animatronics to it work

I have a personal theory that the bite of '87 might have taken place the day before night 6.
On Night 3 Phone Guy mentions tragic events, which could be the deceased childrens incident. The investigation and the animatronics acting weirdly is already mentioned on Night 4, so the DCI has definetely taken place by then. In the call on Night 6 Phone Guy seems especially afraid of the animatronics, which indicates they did something bad.
A possible timeline of events could be that one of the employees (not William Afton) donned a yellow spare suit (not necessarily spring bonnie) during the day because the animatronics were being uncooperative. This however set the animatronics of, as that employee was now walking around, interacting with children, just like William Afton did when he kidnapped the children before. Eventually one of the animatronics attacked that employee in an attempt to save the children, biting him in the head.
The biggest problem with this theory is that how could Freddy's still host a birthday party after that event?
Well, if the bite didn't take place that day, perhaps this was atleast prelude to it.

Also I wanted to give my two cents on why the Toys are aggressive in FNaF 2, I don't think their possessed rather they are influence by the Puppet itself, kinda like Charlie is playing a chess game against Jeremy Fitzgerald, and the Toys are her pawns, it could also somewhat explain the bite, if Jeremy was staying close to Mangle/Toy Foxy, and The Puppet was influencing them, well, 2 + 2 = A missing frontal lobe.

Interesting connection to say that the toys being literal toys in fnaf4 could mean they're happening at the same time. I had always seen the literal toys as such a solid piece of evidence for dream theory that i never considered they could have another meaning. We know that after Dave's death William started trying to learn about remnant and ghosts, which makes sense with the fnaf2 mini games where Willy is taking apart the remnant infused animatronics. Plus that gives an actual motive for all those random corpses lying around in the same mini game!

While Toy Bonnie is the only animatronic who does the shrinking-pupils thing, he's also pretty much the only one who seems to scan you with eyes visible. Toy Chica, while intended to scroll across the screen similarly, doesn't, but both in the broken image for that and her later depiction in UCN, as well as in the entire process of approaching the office, her eyes have no irises at all, and are just that pinprick of light in unnatural darkness that made the classics in FNaF 1 feel so haunted in the first place when juxtaposed with their otherwise unmoving counterparts. I believe Toy Chica is actually one of the more aggressive animatronics in 2, which might be why she almost always looks like that - for a character the Help Wanted games and Security Breach depicted as a literal siren, luring others to their deaths, she doesn't do a lot of luring in her debut game. Anyways, Toy Freddy does the same thing with his eyes during his office render, glaring down at you with points of light instead of his normal shade of blue, and neither BB nor Mangle actually have scan animations in that way, with both slipping out unseen when successfully warded off. The damning part indicating their possession would be that the Puppet and, as previously mentioned, the classics do the same thing with their eyes, and those are animatronics who are most definitely haunted. That and, as described in Special Delivery's lore emails, Mangle never actually could move like that, and did so supernaturally.
It's possible that the first game's seeming implication that the ghosts aren't always in the animatronics, and just move them around in between possibly resting or messing with other aspects of the building (later supported by the movie doing this, and sort of TSE though it's incredibly subtle), that the Toys are possessed by the same spirits as the Withereds, but it's hard to say particularly when there's apparently 2 or 3 missing children incidents around these groups. Maybe it's just crowded in there. The game moved far enough away from ghosts entirely that nothing has really disproven that they work this way, aside from the matchup of five children and five characters, and peoples' assumptions reinforced by being repeated and interpreted as fact over time in an echo chamber effect.
The Toys have some of the most unique designs of the series, something I think is overlooked. Mangle is one of the most inhumanoid characters in the whole franchise, even including the wire spaghetti that becomes so common later on and whatever random blobs Afton has (rivaled maybe by the Music Man characters we've gotten as well), and that unique design still earns respect. And BB and the Puppet are also pretty unique, though the latter has had quite a few different characters take after the design, notably Ennard and the Minireenas, while the former is really just both the first independent small animatronic we saw and the first human mascot we saw, and remained a fan-favorite gremlin.
And if I might rant about Mangle's design, Mangle has a lot of details assumed by some models that aren't actually present in FNaF 2. In the game, Mangle's 'blackened eye' is a hollow socket, the eye for which is sitting on the floor next to them in the Kid's Cove render - a third eye, to go along with their second head, four legs, three feet and two left hands. The hook, while somewhat supported by the aforementioned two left hands, is not actually Mangle's in that teaser render - Foxy, the FNaF 1 design used in said teaser, uses his own hook, while Mangle's side uses Withered Foxy's bigger and rounder hook. FNaF World included a hook, though, so I suppose we just never got an official model for it. And, while their namesake, the actual Funtime line Funtime Foxy, has that massive tail, Mangle in FNaF 2 has a copy of Toy Bonnie's tail attached to their waist section, though this could be a placeholder or a component mistakenly placed in with the existing mess. And Mangle's jaw is broken - hanging limply open or resting against their head when upside-down in all original renders - denoted by the wiring used in FNaF 2 to show major damage, plainly obvious on the Withereds and other places on Mangle like the endo head's missing eye. FNaF merch has never been great about consistency to details - just see most Springtrap or Chica merch not even having the right eye colors, for instance - and Mangle's is often no different, nor is every game perfectly faithful to the source material of the characters it uses, such as Help Wanted and Special Delivery. SD Mangle isn't even the original Mangle, just a robot made to look the same, so the voice lines there mean little for the original, and how real the UCN characters are is still debated now. Nearly every voice line save for what SL had going on is basically not canon to the original characters in their games. It's a wild place in there.
And there's the bite. The fabled Bite of '87, which was later retconned entirely out of continuity by a teaser image being updated, subject of so many theories. Despite what people tend to say, I don't think anything has ever truly confirmed who bit who, particularly given it hasn't existed since FNaF 4, but people sure do say things regardless. 'Mangle bites from above' is not that great of an argument when the other animatronics also tower above you in their renders and their bite target may well have been sitting down at the time, or been a child, and when Mangle's own jaw doesn't even seem to work.
Honorable mention to Endo-02, who probably was as a Toy animatronic due to being fully intact, though reuses the Withered model's components, as admittedly does Mangle. A spooky setpiece indeed that I wish could show up a bit more often, as while I'm unsure if the rest of the animatronics actually do roam randomly in 2 like Bonnie and Chica did in 1, this roaming endoskeleton made it feel like there was more going on than just you specifically being hunted.

"a fate that would be worse than death if william afton wasnt william afton" nicely said. i watched a video over a year ago where somebody complained that in pizzaria sim, it feels like afton isnt punished for his sins at all and he saw it as a bad thing, in the meantime it is obvious that somebody like him would cherish the new powers that come along with being in a suit so strong that it can break through bones with ease, and he cant really die.
punishing afton always goes horribly wrong, which is why i have the theory that he can even use the agony created in ucn to outlive fire and hell and anything, and the princess wasnt successful at all in punishing him because it again was a punishment that caused agony.

I like The Unwithered Truth's current idea that Funtime Foxy is a shared cross-promotion between Circus Baby's Pizza World and the 87 Location, but not exactly the same robot in each game. Shared mascot under the Fazbear brand, but likely The Mangle is an extremely complicated and expensive to repair model as you need to call up Afton Industries to properly do the job even if the Mangle likely never had all of the "quirks" Sister Location's model had. Not hand it to the fry-cook and expect a functional robot 10 minutes before opening. Thus explains the real reasons why The Mangle was so easy for children to take apart as if kids cove could cannibalize a robot like a school of piranha to a rotisserie chicken, well then why weren't some of these same grubby mitts also shredding the other toys whenever they left the playpin for cake or a show?
Repairs alone probably were an arm and a leg to the franchisee of New Freddy Fazbear Pizza just for the Toys. The Mangle, likely cost even more as it goes through different departments and whatever fiscal sadism Afton would like to inflict. In a company as criminally negligent as this, oh yeah, I could easily see departmental backstabbing and overcharging each other for a quick buck. So yeah, sell the broken machine as a build your own robot center, let the tikes prove themselves to be future Faztech Imaginieers.

Is it just me or are there a surprising amount of parallels between the Toys and the Glamrocks?
For starters, the poster at 0:44 closely resembles one of the ad screens in Security Breach, not to mention the similar themes of new, plastic robots made to never harm children and perform security.
But even individually, Toy Freddy’s friendly demeanor in AR matches Glamrock Freddy’s friendliness in SB and Toy Chica’s beak being missing matches Shattered Chica’s beak being missing (and the slimmer figure, though Funtime Chica has that too).
Toy Bonnie’s “Better than everyone” mentality fits surprisingly well with the idea that Monty killed Glamrock Bonnie out of jealousy. Maybe Glamrock Bonnie acted like Toy Bonnie, which drove Monty to murder?
And if course, Mangle and Roxy being the only feminine-presenting Foxy variants, and Mangle’s façade of owning their brokenness pretty closely matches Roxy’s entire personality and arc in SB/Ruin/HW2
You could even argue that there are similarities between the Puppet and the Daycare Attendant, such as having their own area of the building (prize counter/daycare), being made of different materials than the main band, a still mask for a face rather than any moving features, and of course the floating.
Details like the overall “family-friendly” vibe of both Security Breach irl and the Pizzaplex in universe and the similar story of children going missing, animatronics acting weird, and the eventual closure of both establishments match surprisingly well, too.
All of this makes me wonder if Steel Wool took inspo from FNAF 2 when designing Security Breach.

I mean,to be fair,Foxy does literally say “Oh wait,you ARE the dog” to Mangle in UCN. I doubt Mango could be Susie’s dog. We do see it in the Afton house though so Afton’s dog potentially? I mean,FNAF 4 does have a dog barking. As for the talking,there could also be a human kid in there

Theres also hw2s carousel they're on, or atleast rosy cheeked classics with bb and mango. And I've always found it weird how the fixed mangle and sl funtime foxy are seemingly completely different iterations of the same character, if they share the same name too. A cross promotion (as someone theorized) perhaps?
It should be noted here, that the Withereds looked exactly like the Classics while they were still in operation. I forgot where we get this information from, but it is pretty explicitly said that the reason the withereds looks like this is because an attempt was made to redesign them, but they stopped midway

@ okie dokie as I know they have some Voice lines on the wiki and they did show up in a few games after I think it was UCN oh also one last thing is what’s up with the Paper Pals as you see them in each game almost and I never get what’s tied them into the lore.
