- Today we are delving into one of Fnaf's most overlooked bands of animatronics, the Rockstar Band! A new and improved version of Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy- how could they fall by the wayside? Well, it's a funny story. So let's see what might've happened, and see why Lefte and Carnie might've gotten in the way of their triplet brother's success.

To summarize what I originally said (in a much more well thought out and detailed explanation, thank you _youtube_ ) is that essentially the liability mechanic is all for show. In what is most likely the true ending (Connection Terminated), we learn the whole place was just an enclosed system of vents made to lure in the last remaining animatronics. There were never any guests to begin with, just recordings of people and such.

I know this is a silly joke, but it just occured to me you could categorize it this way:
100 years later, we've advanced so far in technology that motion picture capturing captures color and sound, that we've created screens of thousands of tiny lights that can display whatever image you want, and a connected network spanning the whole world (and SPACE!) where people can communicate using images on those screens, and sounds of their own voices, and music, and everything you can think of. And it's so commonplace that people can use it to talk about silly things, like games (made entirely on these devices!) and stories that they enjoy, and share those silly things with the _whole world._
And the cars may not fly, but we do have air traffic! You can still use flight to travel!
Idk, I've always enjoyed these jokes but it just now sort of hit me that we're glossing over some insane and truly magical things we have in comparison. So maybe this will make someone feel a bit more positively about how far we've come!

Flying cars were actually made during the late '30s. They just never took off due to being a HORRIBLE idea. Imagine 9/11 not being seen as a horrible event and instead being an everyday casualty due to drunks
I like to imagine that while in the middle of singing a song, Rockstar Freddy will stop and start demanding guess pay him 5 coins for him to continue singing the rest of the song. He very quickly became hated amongst the guests.
It’s nice to see these variant of Foxy be apart of the band instead of being shoved into a broom closet like the original Foxy.
To be fair Foxy was never really meant to be part of the main band, he was always meant to be a side attraction.

I like the theory that Lefty is just a refurbished Carnie after the Fallfest fire, since we can see that Carnie loses his left eye.
EDIT: They also have the same eye color.
It says something about Rockstar Freddy when the most significance he's gotten in the past few years was when CNN 10 did a report on a kindergartener's Rockstar Freddy plush that was thrown on the roof so the school called the fire department to get it down. Carl Azuz did a whole rap on the rescue. (Even more hilarious that this incident happened just a few days before the COVID lockdown hit the nation)

I say, have the rockstars be true animatronics, that are kid friendly. Freddy could still be a bit frugal, Bonnie could have a passion for singing, Chica being a rough and tumble kinda bird, and Foxy being the fun uncle who lets you go on all the rides. The Ideal band if you will

Okay, so this is my canon now, but it opens so many questions.
What did he do that he needed to change his name? Does Fazbear not name the animatronics, if they can rename themselves? Is Fazbear involved in the coverup?
He clearly needs his own story in one of the books to clear this up. Maybe a book, or a series, just covering this.
I'd recommend David Baron attempting to make Fazbear Fright stories. Bar Fight Brothers is probably my favorite of the bunch.
There is a theory that Henry actually used the Carnie animatronic to make Lefty so that joke might become true depending on what the rumored Fallfest game reveals

There's one more design difference between RockstarFreddy and Lefty that nobody else seems to notice- Lefty actually has a bigger nose.

More characters need more recognition.
I would say Afton in FNAF Security breach need some explanation of his disappearance and not appearing in FNAF ruin.
You know what would have been cool in FNAF 6? If The Rockstars we’re possessed by Agony and Mike would have to fight and dismantle them on The Final Night.

Things I think.
1. What if Henry repurposed carnie into lefty in order to find and contain his daughter.
2. Since lefty was designed to contain the puppet perhaps the rockstar animatronics were designed in a similar fashion but never got to show it.
3. Since el chip shares a similar design maybe he was made around the same time the rockstars were.
Yeah I think it was implied in Help Wanted 2 that Carnie, an early aniamtronic, was reused to make Lefty, which makes me think all the Rockstars and probably El Chip too are reused from a similar time as well.
To your second thing, I actually have seen a theory that the Rockstars were the springlock hybrids explained by Phone Guy in FNAF 3.
Rockstar Chica actually explicitly talking about eating you is what gets me. I remember being terrified of her in the first game with that LET'S EAT bib, this is like the unspoken suggestion was fully acknowledged
I love them, even though they aren't the fandom's favorites, they are mine, specially how their personalities gives them more diversity than any of the other animatronics.
Also side note of some things you might be interested:
1. In the HW2 files, Carnie's folder name for the model is called "Barker Bear" which could have been his original name.
2. It's very under the radar, but El Chip is technically a Rockstar as well since his model is the same as the other rockstars. (colorful cheeks, knees, upper eyelids, jaw design, 5 fingers, and 4 toes.)
I love Carnie so much, I'm super sad he only appeared in FNAF VR 2. He is my favorite character and I hope he gets more screen time soon. Thank you for shedding some light on such an underrated character. Just waiting for Funko to make merch of him. He is my baby forever. He is so sassy and it makes me sad when he was screaming in his last moments.

It's funny how it seems like the rockstars have way more recognition outside of their original game. I remember that a long time ago there was a news report about someone throwing a Rockstar Freddy plush on top of a roof and they had to call the fire department to get him down.
Also, I mean this with 100% sincerity, I would love to hear Rockstar Bonnie and Rockstar Chica's voices return in some way. I love them both so much, easily two of my favorite voices in the entire series. It pains me that they only got to shine in UCN. Carnie also has one of my favorite voices, that type of voice he has was always one of my favorite types of voices to listen to.
I don't know why, but I love Rockstar Freddy. I love his design, his color scheme and his voice
I feel like the reason they're so forgotten is their overlap with a toy animatronics but also because they're not possessed they don't actually have a soul in them. They're just the animatronics as they were originally supposed to be and unlike the security breach ones that have full-on AIs these are just Chuck e. Cheese characters

The Rockstars are my favorite and have been for years, they DESERVE more attention in the games and that is 100% why they don't get much attention in the fandom. Their designs are really great. I was so glad to see Carnie bring the style back, but sad to see them not all return in Help Wanted 2 where they should have been given that chance to shine. Their personalities are good, I'd say even Rockstar Freddy shows a clear personality through his renders, they have a lot of potential. Since they don't attack in Pizza Sim, they are presumably non-hostile outside of UCN, but they have a default liability with no explanation ever given. There's more questions to answer about them and I hope that will be explored one day.
Fun fact: the Rockstars (and Mediocre Melodies) also can react to novel situations in intelligent ways, like Carnie did. One of the lawsuits in Pizza Sim proves this. They probably also knew when Henry burned the building down. But who is surprised to see Henry creating something that can think and then destroying it!
Another fun fact: The Rockstars' mechanics in UCN are a reference to the 5 stats in Pizzaria Simulator (Freddy: Bonus Revenue, Bonnie: Entertainment, Chica: Health & Safety, Foxy: Liability, and Lefty: Atmosphere) which is really clever.
Do you think that lefty could be a refurbished carnie? This is a very long shot, im talkin 100 yard football kick, but it's just some fun thoughts that could conjure up something in the community.
If you look at burnt carnie's model, you can just barely see that his right eye is more withered. You may have to squint. But say that at that time his right eye got replaced because it was the most damaged of the two, after decades of collecting dust and rotting away, the untouched eye could have decayed to the point of becoming black. As Henry repared carnie to become lefty, the original eye may have stayed or been replaced with a new black eye for a unique touch.
A more realistic approach could be the lefty's design is INSPIRED by his burnt orginal. The eye rotted eye i just mentioned could have inspired the black eye detail.
One specific character of that I think could drive home this theory is the color. Burnt carnie is a muted brown with white char accents. But if you were to scrape all of burnt plastic off, you be left with a black tarnished metal. Notice that lefty is not solid black, but a metalic, gun metal black.
I think it is possibe that lefty is either a repaired version of carnie, with it's new design based on the chared scraps of the original, or lefty was a completely different animatronic who's build was inspired by the remains of his counterpart.
By the location of Fazer Blast and hint we see, I think that carnie was most likely a part of Fall Fest(most likely the 1970 event) if so, do you think it's possible that carnie was one of Henry's first animatronics. That was a whole decade before our first look at fredbears.
Whether or not Fredbear's opened before 1983. I highly doubt that it was an establishment before 1970. I noticed that there is no sign of Freddy’s or Fredbear's on the poster. Which leads me to believe that this fall fest may have predated everything.
The running theory is that the mediocre melodies were his first animatronics, made to rip off Freddy’s fame. But being that we see an animatronic a decade before that, that closely resembles one of his final animatronics. It really seems that carnie could be his first.
Here's some food for thought. Henry has been deemed a copycat in the early timeline for the mediocre melodies. But if he made his first BEAR animatronic at a children's theme event in 1970, is he really the copycat? If William stole the idea and made Fredbear's, and Fredbear's became as big as it did. No one would bat an eye at a small carnival with a simple bear animatronic.
I don't know if I like this idea, but I'm just throwing everything I got to see what sticks. Is it possible that William set the carnival on fire to one, preventing it from becoming more successful. And two, to take that idea and reuse it for himself. I don't think he was pure evil at this point, or really evil at all. But it's still just a thought.
I don't really think that lefty is a remade carnie. I think it's possible that the design could have been inspired by the withered design. But I doubt that they put that much thought into a connection like that.
I am pretty confident, though, that carnie was most likely the first and that Henry was never really the copycat. But more so, tried to reclaim the ideas stolen from him later on after William's fame.
Personally aside from ucn the rockstars (aside from lefty) feel like an indirect weapon to use against the 4 evil animatronics in pizzeria simulator to help lure them in.

Even though they are ofershadowed by other characters. They are the funniest group of animatronics in my opinion. Especially Freddy, the idea of Freddy Fazbear robbing you is just so funny for some reason.
ALSO. The rockstars were kinda meant to be placeholders, in-universe, I'm pretty sure. I don't think it was a mistake. They're, like you said, a fazbear facade to hide something deeper.
And I think it'd be neat to have the rockstars somewhere in the abandoned freddy's under the pizzaplex.
Iin fact, I think that's what the classic animatronic models were placeholders for in the old unused version of one of the ruin dlc maps. I think it was either that or fredbears idk could be either.
I just wanna explore the depths of the fazbear tunnels some more. Hopefully as a continuation of Cassie's story. But I've already come up with an entire plot for a potential second dlc for security breach, so I'm not gonna keep rambling about that here-

There's only so much you can do to be a populat animatronic in Fnaf when there's not a dead child/dead serial killer/killer ai/etc possessing you. Funny that ulitmately, they are indeed the safest animatronics overall, in-universe (well, the safest versions of the main cast at least). Maybe, if it was possible to interact with them in Fnaf 6, they could've become more popular? Oh well, what's done is done.

i never realized until this video how genuinely underrated they are, at least in my opinion--like sure they aren't the most standout or anything (as pointed out, lol) but i genuinely really like the designs and stuff tbh
I personally think that if Carnie was used at Fallfest, it could be that there was a person nearby or maybe in a booth behind him voicing him to heckle the character.
There's a few similar things in amusement parks and fairs where you have someone puppeting or controlling an animatronic and speaking through a microphone nearby. Plus since fall fest was so early on I feel like it'd be hard to get them as sentient as some of the other animatronics.
This is honestly why Rockstar Foxy’s my favorite of the group.

I've always liked the designs of the Rockstars ! To me it always appeared as the right middle ground between Classics and Toys (and maybe even the Funtimes). I also think, just like for the Mediocre Melodies, UCN is clearly the game that defined the little we know about their personalities. I liked the addition of Carnie to HW2 (even if it was small and not really important). They will always have a place in my heart as the least important band of the franchise but one I find charming enough in that regard.
One of my favorite things about your content is how much you mention the Silver Eyes trilogy, even just in passing like you did here. It's not really a thing other FNAF creators do so it makes your style incredibly unique while also being a nice wink and a nod to the comparatively few of us who read them.

Rockstar bonnie perfectly has that unintentionally creepy appeal of animatronics
Fun fact; the office sections in pizza sim actually take place during the day and not at night. Handunit confirms this on the first day and you can even faintly hear party’s going on during gameplay. That makes Lefty’s role in the game even more confusing since he’s in the vents during the day but he still somehow entertains the kids during the day.
Maybe the kids really like seeing him crawl those vents to obliterate the owner
the rockstars are one of my top 3 favourite brands of the gang, while they dont get much appreciation theyre still iconic
Just in a weird way the actuators on the lower jaw almost makes them feel less mechanically advanced then most of the models. However, with the plasticy look, while being less advanced than the toys, may be a jab at how modern fazbear entertainment is a bit underhanded and went with cheaper models that still worked.

It's crazy to think how overlooked the Rockstar Animatronics are in the FNAF franchise which is sad. But it's understandable why they lacked new unique designs since they were used for the trap to kill William Afton in the fire.
The Rockstars only give me memories of when i started to live alone for the first time when i turned 18, and I changed to picture of my Landlord's contact to Rockstar Freddy's face. I don't think i need to explain why

I do love the rockstars! Standins built to burn, with just enough touch of personality! Especially foxy! Hes just a guy!
Here's my take on every rockstar.
- Freddy isn't very interesting, but the idea he is always mugging people for coins sounds like a thing Modern Fazbear Entertainment would do. Hell, get this guy hired for The IRS.
- Bonnie is literally on autotune so... not very interesting to be entirely honest. He is a good singer though. One interesting thing aside from the voice is his mechanic in UCN, which utilities the cameras.
- Chica having a phobia of wet floor signs is hilarious, I'm sorry. It's become a great joke, and imagine if they kept this joke for The Wet Floor Sign Bots in Security Breach!
- Foxy actually being a good guy for once is something I really like, with the whole risk of jumpscares in his gameplay too. He doesn't seem that different from the OG in terms of personality, though he has less threatening voice lines.
- Lefty is a total creep with his voice lines making him seem... OBSESSIVE with keeping "you" with him. And word of advice for Henry, it's stupid to keep The Puppet in a bear suit if she's meant to burn.
Also... imagine if Lefty was still on stage when the vents shut. Couldn't Charlie just wait it out before breaking out of Lefty and leaving?
(Not that I'd mind Puppet returning unlike Afton, I'd love that. Because the ideas you can use her for are plentiful in The Steel Wool Era. From the sentient animatronics that aren't possessed, to The Mimic and how he could put his own twist on the things she does, to Glitchtrap and The Daycare Attendant, hell even the possibility of a Glamrock Puppet.)
- Carnie's sentience if he was made early on the timeline is actually pretty dark. The fact he can feel pain as he burns is unsettling. The idea he may have been rebuilt as Lefty is an interesting idea too, but I feel like him just being there for Fall Fest is more likely.
Overall, I see them as good potential for one-off characters.
Lefty could be a very creepy antagonist or villain, stalking and luring in the player to keep them "safe" with him.

I just noticed that the rockstars are a sort of combination of the withereds and the toys. Their shape are the same as the Withereds but with other features from the toys like Freddy being more chubby, Chica having less teeth on her beak, Bonny having a face, and Foxy having a second head in the form of a parrot, with both him and the parrot having one eye. On top of that the owerall smoother, cleaner and more plasticity shell.

I love the designs of the Rockstars so much. I think they could still absolutely be a hit, but they'd need their own game for it. One where they're not just like... standing there. A side game, maybe? I'd love to see something that really focused on and took advantage of their really interesting personalities.

I think the reason Carny looks like the rockstars isn't because he IS one, but because he was designed by the same person. They existed in very different times, so I think it's less that he's part of the band and more a lore hint.

Tbh the rockstars are my favourite. They have colourful personalities in many ways and could be interesting in many ways if they were shown more often, and it’s really sad how they are the most underrated band of all Fnaf, I hope they could get a little more attention in the series, maybe a fan game based entirely on them, or merch packs with t(e missing cast like Bonnie and chica but this is all just theory… A rockstar Theory!
