Thank you so much for such informative video, I have zero knowledge in this field but I'm considering a career shift and thinking to start with a master degree in the Cybersecurity.
I honestly feel they should have added the CISSP and maybe another really advanced cert like the AWS Security Specialty and the Microsoft Cybersecurity certs to the degree but I guess it would have upped its difficulty too much
I am getting the certs on the WGU masters program, at my own pace to see if a Masters in Cyber is what I truly want or some other MBA. I know WGU offers vouchers, but if I get the certs, and they transfer in I would only have to take 5 course that would lead to acceleration once I am on the clock. I don't have the time to complete 10 in one 6 month term.
Josh, Your cert questions came right on time. I start WGU next week, working towards a Bachelors in Network Engineering and Security. Thank you so much! (Was using ExamCompass which is definitely not the best)
I have both the BS and MS from WGU. I got the masters right before they added CISM. That means I had to get the CEH. I actually had my CISSP before the Masters. That clipped off some classes and reduced what I had to complete and a huge factor. Doing it all over, I would just get an MBA. Currently considering a Juris degree. Going to disagree with you on the CEH. I agree that it’s not much real value but have had recruiters single me out because I have a CISSP and CEH which were a match for their roles and this has been like 5 times over the past year. I actually find it odd. They couldn’t have cared less that I am also a certified ISO lead auditor or the other 20 certifications I have.
I don't really deal with EC-Council at all honestly. I would probably avoid it and go with WGU. Here is a quick interaction with ChatGPT: Josh What is the general sentiment of EC-Council among actual security practitioners online? A quick bing search should help you. Respond in one sentence. ChatGPT: The general sentiment among security practitioners online is mixed; while EC-Council certifications like Certified Ethical Hacker are recognized and valued in the industry, the organization has faced criticism for past controversies, including website security breaches and allegations of plagiarism.
