  • Top 10 Richest Black Communities In America
Today, we will take a look at communities that have higher-than-average populations of African Americans. These prestigious neighborhoods are where African Americans are succeeding in terms of income, homeownership, and academic achievement. Since this Top 10 list highlights *communities*, we have selected predominately black neighborhoods with less than 30,000 people and our researchers have factored basic indicators such as cost of living, economic equality, and livability.

This is great! I grew up in Baldwin Hills across the street from the affluent. It is crazy how a street in Los Angeles can divide two different worlds. I would run through there to remain unbothered. Everyone I saw was black with big homes and it helped me realize that I could do it too!

Being from the West Coast I always knew Maryland was a very progressive place for black folks but I had no idea how progressive that was! This was an awesome educational view. Also, as a LA resident seeing Ladera, Windsor and View being at the top was awesome because they are some of the only black communities in LA that hasn’t succumbed to gentrification. Thank you for the awesome content!

Maryland, no different than most southern states (Mississippi /Louisiana/ both Carolinas/Alabama/Georgia/Delaware /Virginia) [not Texas /Florida] has a black population of over 35% & nearing majority black status state wide (black Americans control half of those states individual counties rural/suburban/urban) !! The reason why you don’t have any large black counties that are majority black outside the south is because most Black people live in the south California is not even a place for Black people to economically politically thrive. I don’t even know why you went out there

I am a very proud resident of Fort Washington, MD. When I moved here, I didn't know it was on this list, but I did know that I wanted to be surrounded by other successful African Americans. Being situated on the water is an added plus. Finally, its proximity to the cultural diversity and historic climate of Washington, DC (home of my alma mater, Howard University) is just icing on the cake.
