Phenomenal review, articulate and straight to the point.
You mentioned everything i need and want to know, so I decided to upgrade my 7+ to the nova and I love it, thanks!
Keep it up, subscribed!
I've got an arctis 3, i'll order the nova for sure. Thanks for the presentation. Great job.👍👍👍
I picked up the Nova Pro Wireless and have been blown away by the improvements they made. They are WAY more comfortable on my big noggin than the previous models, and the noise cancellation is a feature I didn’t know I needed. Amazing headset
I've had them since launch and I don't ever see myself switching from SteelSeries. I've been using them for about 4 years now and the Nova Pro Wireless is the best and most comfortable headset I've ever used.
How is the latency ?
@@Infernox-tg6ky They have a speed mode for the 2.4 ghz wireless mode that has zero noticeable latency for me, and I'm somewhat sensitive to that. Only the Bluetooth mode has latency.
does the noise cancellation give you a headache i get headaches from some anc especially apple air pods
@@shap7296 I don't get a headache from them. The noise cancellation is pretty minimal compared to airpods. And you can turn it off
Loving my arctis nova pro wireless. Thanks for the advice.
Hey Techne always good to hear another one of your audio quality rants😁. I got the Arctis 5 after watching your review and I don't regret it since. Upgraded my cushions as well, thanks to you. Absolutely love your videos, keep up the awesome work.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the LG Tone Free T90. Got them a couple weeks now and they're stinking awesome😅
Thank u so much man
love your channel dude keep it up
The last 2 weeks I purchased a bunch of headsets for my PS5, the Pulse 3D, 7P+, Nova 7X. I kept the 7P+. The Pulse was laughable in quality to me, even on sale at $69 I couldn’t keep them, they were bad. I love that the Nova 7X had simultaneous Bluetooth but for me even the first party Series X wireless headset handles it better imo. That left the 7P+ on sale for $109 and sound quality matching the Nova with some tweaking, it was the best pick for me.
Just ordered my Wicked Cushions for Nova Pro Wireless. Got to get a review on your channel
I’ve been in the market for new headsets for a week now for the same exact reason “wanting more” some more bass you know. With these prices man with tech changing every few seconds i just bought some wicked cushion after watching you video for my 7p and i am ok with that.
Great review as usual Techne 🎧
I got the arctis 9 after watching your video on it , I really needed the bluetooth and I couldn't find artcis pro anywhere I live .
I'm happy with it and I don't think I'm upgrading any time soon .
Perfect comparison and perfect description thank you 👍🏾I have 9x and I just bought 7x nova it’s on the way.I am so exciting for comparison both of them and I will keep my mind what did you say when I do comparison.Waiting new videos.
So what so you recommend ? I thinking to buy a steel series mic
@gokhanyeke5248, has passed 10 months since your comment, could you tell me please, to you, nowadays which one is the best option to buy? Thank you.
Had the 9x headset for 3 years still going stronge.
i have the Arctis 7X and nova wired. Nova wireds with Dac are killer. bass that's so deep n punchy. The wire is too much for my sim racing rig and the 7X just don't have that punch. I really think I'm gonna pull trigger on the Nova 7X now...thanks so much for the effort n time...your one of my favorite headphone reviewers out bud...appreciate you
Never owned a gaming headset before, always had studio monitoring headphones for audio production. Just literally ordered the Nova 7's as my first ever, so looking forward to them, be interesting to see how different they are to actual studio headphones as well for music. Keep up the great work Techne!
Studio headphones will always have that better sound quality, but these wireless gaming headset technologies has come a long way. The Nova 7 is a great headset. I’m really enjoying the Nova 7, especially in FPS games for positional audio. It’s bass and mid accuracy is near perfect. Trust me, order a pair of leatherette ear pads for the Nova 7 from the official SteelSeries and it will make it sound even better
@@famezy9103 but doesn't it get hot for the ears in the summer 🥵
@@famezy9103 Thank you, yeah for sure going to invest in some pads for it, quite used to leatherette as well, so i might go that way, i also want to get the red band for it. I'll be using it mostly on FPS or Sim games like ACC to chat so its great to know it has excellent positional audio :)
@@lucutes2936 Oh yeah for sure it does 🤣. But to me it doesn’t matter. Rather sweat than have less sound quality 🤣. To be honest it’s not that bad. Depends on the type of the leather. Some are extremely sweaty and some are not too bad. These ones don’t get that hot
@@karlsmith8113 Oh if you’re already used to leatherette ear pads you’ll be fine then. Enjoy 😎
My Wicked Cushions arrived for the Nova Pro Wireless. Very very nice.
Couldn’t help myself last Saturday I got the nova pro wireless and they are amazing ofc the ear pads and what people say them are true they do start to hurt your ears over long periods of time but wicked cushions just does an amazing job at making ear pads that will solve my problem. I have recommend my friend the nova 7x as they are on sale right now and they are just what he needs as the nova steel series have really done a good job I used to have artic 5’s so going to a nova pro wireless was a big jump for me and has the artic 5’s as well.
Those ear cushions look awesome.
Hey Techne! First of all, thank you for the great video. Where would you rank the newer Arctis 7X+? Is it an upgrade in terms of sound/mic to the old 7X? And how does it stack up against the Nova 7X?
My 9x still going strong, had them since release. With Dolby Atmos and my presets I hear everything in mw2….. love my headset
4 years ago I bought SteelSeries Arctis 7, the quality is really good, in the meantime I replaced the earphone cushions with faux leather ones. I also bought a belt because it had stretched too much, but I haven't replaced it yet, I just cut off what was hanging down. The batteries are 4 years old and last all day, and I use them several hours a day. The only problem is if someone has a rather large head like me, it is very tight and sometimes my head starts to hurt. I'm planning on purchasing the cable version and was considering the SteelSeries Nova 1, similar to the SteelSeries Nova 7 wireless.
hey Techne, i'm thinking of upgrading from the HyperX Cloud Flight S, are the Novas that much of an upgrade sound wise? I'm mainly looking at it for the bluetooth feature.
Just got myself the steelseries arctis 1 wireless just waiting to get them thanks for the video about them
Hey, what EQ settings do you recommend on Steelseries arctis 7 wireless? Thanks
Here's a question that might be a little hard to answer: I've been using an old wired Tritton AX Pro for almost ten years now (great headset, by the way), but I've decided it's time to jump on the modern/3D wireless headphones boat. I got a Logitech G935 as a gift, but I didn't like the sound of it on the PS5 (I found the sound very flat, very low, almost without any impact/punch, which I'm used to with the Tritton) and I ended up selling it. Is the Arctics Nova 7x the one to choose?
my story is that i have always gotten cheap head set... this year i have bit the bullet and gotten my self a pare of Arctis 9x for my Xbox.. the main selling point from them for me was that there was no dongle needed to connet to my xbox.. and with the blue tooth i am able to listen/chat on my PC on discord.. and my gosh how i love the feel and comfort of the headset and hope they will serve me well for years
Great video. Where you plug in your charger on the 9s are going to strip out way sooner. The oval on the novas will last a lot longer. Because when you can't charge them they're useless. Or grab the pros then you don't have to worry about it. IMO.
Nothing seems to state the bit depth and bitrate achievable thru the dongle or bluetooth connection or wired. how high can this go ? 24bit 192Khz?
I just picked up the Steelseries Arctis 7x+ for my Xbox and I really enjoy the sound quality, but after watching your video...I may have to do an exchange for the Nova's.
Got the console 3s and straight up love em
Would you recommend Nove Pro Wireless or the 7X? I’m on the fence since a lot of people complained about the ANC nub on the inside but I’m tempted to try them and see if it’s a problem to me!
Are you able to set your eq settings on a laptop then use them on Xbox? Or can you only use sonar on pc?
Do you have any suggestion about headset stands that might as well make the charging process as easy as it gets?
I just got the 7+ for 99 bucks. I'm happy with them. It's definitely a step up from my corsair hs50s.
What site? I’m seeing them for 159…😅
Using the 7 since 5 years now and still works absolutely fine. I love steelseries. Appreciate the chatmix function so much as one who's voice, gaming and listen to music. This headset is just missing a better mic. :3
Just got the 7 it worked fine then a day after it won't turn on or charge :/
@@cranialcrunch2465 take off the cushion and theres a hard restart should fix
Arctis Nova 7/X/P vs Arctis 9/x
Since they both have Bluetooth, which would be the better option?
Does the nova 7x keep out background noise? I know these don't have ANC but just wondering if they still have good noise cancellation (when using outside listening to music) just as they are?
Which one would you recommend for like full competitive games like I wanna be able to hear my enemy breathing on my left, right up and down all directions you know?
should i purchase the arctis 9 now with similar function with nova 7x but about $40 cheaper than it
I enjoy your videos, good energy. You freak me the fuck out every time you stretch out a headset though 🤣
those cozy WC look sharp very nice, once i find out if the nova p work with the psvr 2 ill get the headphones and the cozy WC, i took your recommendations for my audeze penrose and I love the WC.
I own a Arctis 7 for atleast 3 years now and had it RMA'd due to the volume slider on the left, when adjusting, the sounds from both headsets are fading. Does the Nova 7 have this common issue as well?
I have the 9x for my series X. Would the new 7 nova be an upgrade?
Recently my arctis 9x broke apart on me after about 3 years or so. I used them for streaming, and now I'm gonna go for the Nova. My question is, are the Nova's well enough to stream with. Like me speaking into the mic kind of deal
I have arctis 3 right now and trying to figure out where to upgrade, switched to arctis from turtle beach and I’m staying, they always break at some point. I looked on versus but they said the sound quality is the same between nova 7 and arctis 7+. Which one should I get between these 2?
I'm looking for a great gaming headset for the xbox. Steelseries is definitely set. Now I've seen some of your videos and I'm hesitating between the Nova 7X and 9X. Which would you prefer? 🤔
I don't quite understand if there is a difference between the regular Nova 7 and the 7P/7X variants.
At the 7x can I use a cable extension usb-c to the dongle? My laptop doesn't have enough space to plug it.
Just sub because you stated you made a mistake and corrected it, TOO many youtubers thinking their word is god. It's refreshing to hear you are human!
I have been using Arctis 7p since release but want to ditch the micro usb and get a headset that uses type C what headset do you recommend if I solely play on PS5 mostly FPS games?
Do both headsets have sidetone adjustability? I am someone who likes the steel series side tone, But I haven't seen anything talking about if the new nova series has sidetone.
Hi, Ive read complaints about the headband on the Novas stretching after a few months. What’s your take on this?
So either of these have the voice playback? Like where you can hear your own voice in mic in headset
Just looking at both these sets at the moment so this is stinkin' useful! I have read the Novas are all round slightly smaller, is that right? Do they have the same internal ear cup size for example? :)
I upgraded from the arctic 7x to the Nova 7x recently and am glad I did. The sound profile is that bit better and they’re even more comfortable. My only complaint (with both sets) is occasionally with really big boomy loud sounds they get quite distorted. Until Dawn is the worst for this. Anyone else found that with them, or a solution?
Tweak that eq a pinch
@@TheTechne I’ve tried but not found the magic settings yet!
I wouldn’t mess with the dynamic sound option unless you know what you’re doing. I think these headphones are better than what the software can provide tbh. The mic needs to be dialed back I think (haven’t used them yet) but on PS5 (even with the 7P) you can’t use sonar unfortunately. I think the smiley profile is a decent start but I would increase the bass a bit. You can still hear footsteps and get a fuller sound profile, plus I think COD nerfed the stage distances awhile back
which one is better for the ps5 and do both of them work well with the psvr2@@TheTechne
Is there a SteelSeries headset that could be used both for gaming and work for taking calls?
Hi! I have a few quistions about the Arctic series.
I currently have had the Arctis 3 for a couple of years and they were ansolutely amazing, but I really want to buy them again. They are discontinued ofcourse so I am looking for a new headset.
The one thing I absolutely hate is that everything is now an active, wireless headset, while I am looking for one I can use passive, with a 3,5mm jack in my xbox one controller and still have surround sound. I am very confused because it is a real pain finding out if that is possible with the new models, so can you still use the 7x, 7x+ or 9x without battery and wired like the arctic 3?
I really hope I can get one before black friday, just can't figure it out!
Thank you!
I have the Arctis 7X and upgrading to Novas 7X, because on my Arctis when I turn up or down the volume wheel sometimes the sound goes off on the L side, do you know how to fix it?
For what I need I have the arctis 7p+ they do just fine , I like them
At the 7x can I use the microphone without stretching outside with Bluetooth and PC connection?
Great reviews greetings from Sweden!
I bought the Nova 7x and I am really happy with these only thing I can't get my steelseries engine to recognise the headset even tried uninstalling the engine and reinstalling it? I understand the Novas have a new firmware but what am I missing if I can't update?
I have the Artics 3 console. Is the 7x or 9x just Sound-vise worth the upgrade?
How about between the 9X and the Nova 7X which one is better and you recommend? Thanks
Hej! I really love your content. I got a question. which one is best for xbox arctis 9x vs arctis nova 7x? 😊
would you have the same opinion about the 9x arctic tot he 7x nova? theres so many models all priced so strangely its hard to keep up
With that eq set up on the Nova 7x on the Xbox, do you use Dolby Atmos as well? If so what eq on Atmos?
ive been using an Apply Headseet from 2014 until today, its starting to die out RN. im looking for an upgrade. Is te Arctis nova pro wireless worth it?
I'm looking for this.
my priorities is comfort, bluetooth, and sound quality
i mostly wanna use this for my online classes for 8 to 10 hrs a day, my current headphones' ear cushions are of leather and they heat so much i get pimples around my temples. are these ear cushions good for long sessions? because i see they aren't made from leather...
Hey great video. I was wondering what’s ur EQ settings for the novas in COD and Warzone 2
I have the Arctis Pro Wireless headset currently.
I use them for gaming and the Bluetooth for work.
For gaming I notice the bass isn't the greatest for explosions for fps where it kinda starts getting kinda a static sound?
My question is would you recommend the Nova pro wireless over the older model?
I'm also interested in the corshair xt wireless as well if you would recommend that one over perhaps both?
Thank you!
Had to return the Nova 7x. Earpads are a little on the small side and would become uncomfortable for me. I tried putting Wicked Cusions on, but was still not very comfortable.
Is there a spec about what charger should i have to use on this headset?
i have the 7x Nova and the 9X, on the 9X you can cycle through the preset options? can you do that on the Nova's? not sure how to do it
I got the steel series artic nova 7x wireless it says green is 50-100 precent how do I know if it 100?is there a specific time I need to charge it for
I bought the 9x for Blackfriday because they were cheaper than the nova 7s. the 9x of course doesn't come with a dongle but I only remembered that you mentioned that Xbox is the version to buy... And of course the usb dongle (wireless adapter for windows 10) isn't available at the moment. The lag due to bluetooth on the 9x is slightly noticeable on my pc and I regret not picking up the novus 7. I primarily bought it for the bluetooth connectivity to my phone so that I had a subtle headset for phone and music usage outside of the house... So it works well for my phone but I smend most of my free time on PC. Phone calls are ok, you warned us about the mic quality and i can accept it. But the pc game lag... that hurt. And my 9x, like the A7s are micro usb charging :( At least I can always get wicked cushions
Which is the 7x+ in the video? The right one?
So does sonar save to the dongle aswell, or just GG settings
Could i use the novas for competitive too though or the 7x are recommended better?
i have those 7's but mine didn't come with a USB C dongle. it came with a USB cable with a hockey puck as the receiver.
Can you use either one of these wired and using the mic function?
Do you suggest the nova 7X or the Microsoft Xbox wireless headset !
Do you have to do a firmware update on on the 7p+ ??? Or can I just not do it and they will be fine ?
When will you be reviewing the new Audeze Maxwell set?
Usare nova 7 con ps4 funziona bene in marito alla ricezione delle voce con amici oppure c’è qualche ritardo rispetto a ps5 ?
For me personally, I wouldn’t upgrade mine at the moment, because I have the Arctis 7X+, and I got it like 3-4 months before the Nova 7x came out. I kinda regret buying it because the Novas have Bluetooth and I would’ve loved to have that. Also the 7X+ is $170 and I would’ve had no issue paying 10$ more for a technically better headset. I will probably get the Novas later, but not at the moment.
I am in the same boat but that Bluetooth function I've missed after I switched from the turtle beach ones I had before the 7p+.
I have just picked up a pair of the Nova 7x and I love them. I see you can buy the wireless transmitter from the Steelseries website seperatly. Does that mean I can have one receiever at my home machine and one on my work machine and the headset will work seemlessly after pairing? or would I have to re-pair each time I move between home and work?
Good question
Would you say go for the arctic 9 or this 7 nova ?
In still confused which 1 to get for ps5 there is nova 7 7p + but 9 costs the same im rly confused
Revisiting this video, I got the nova 7 about 2 months ago and my cousin is getting the 7+ today. Only thing about nova 7 is it feels like it doesn’t close all the way on the left ear cup like I got a gap I can fit my finger in from the bottom
Soooo, what about the PRO? Is it worth it?
Yes you should, the old arctis distorted when you tried to boost the bass, also the sound was flat and boring. The new refresh fixed everything, like you said you can finally bring bass out of these cans
I love my maxwells for everything not gonna lie. I can't even say you aren't being biased due to the turtles being new and being excited.
But I respect your reviews and point of view.
In my opinion, you can use the maxwells for gaming, work and music and they are going to be amazing in everything, noise suppression on the mic has done wonders in my meetings due to my neighbors construction, sound is super immersive, and footsteps aren't as good as described here, I bet it would be better on turtles, even without measuring.
However, the features on the turtle can definitely outperform the maxwells
For the arctis Nova: Lets say we use discord via bluetooth while gaming, does it lower the game volume?
Recommendation…do the 7x and 9x sound better than turtle beach stealth 500s?
Are these better than the Corsair Virtuoso XT?
7x vs nova pro worth upgrading?
I have the 9x and have yet to find a headset better than those.
I've had the artist Nova sevens And yes they are better than the regular 7 But there is a drawback to them people will complain about echoing That's why I went with the artist Nova pros And they are so much better than the seven's because you could actually hear way better footsteps And no one will ever sneak up on you
i have the Nova x7s and ive never had any echo issues with mine only thing is is that they are pretty big and loose on my head by default i have to use the smallest headband setting and then slightly move the adjustable slider
Which one is compatible with ps4/switch?
Picked up the Nova 7 last week at the same time buying the 7+ on amazon while they were $99. Those should come in next week. Hopefully I can make a quick decision if the Nova's are "worth $80" more. What's your thoughts? PC Only. Call of Duty and a little bit of world of warcraft.
Is it worth the 80 Buck 🤔I’m stuck rn don’t know which one to pick I have regular 7 and honestly I’m just tired of the usb-micro Shits annoying. Now there 60 bucks difference but I’m still stuck 😂
