I would love to build my own motorcycle from the frame up like with a kit. Imagine you get a frame, engine, tubing, brakes, suspension, dash, lights, handle bars, wheels, tires, controlls, and a seat and you have to put it all together. I would imagine that the things like the engine are all assembled and you wouldnt need to weld anything, only bolt things together. That would be pretty fun and I would imagine it would be a relativly low end bike as a high end bike customer probably wouldnt want to build a bike. I think that something like an injected 1 or 2 cylinder air cooled motor with options for abs would be realistic. The only problem of this is that if it were to be a kit, it would also need to be quite a bit cheaper than a pre built one.
FYI Yamaha is selling R15 and MT15 (150cc segment), KTM selling Duke 125, Husky svart & vitpilen 250 (with tuned Duke 250 engines) in India. They're budget option motorcycles from the manufacturers so far

Corrections:- Honda - Honda shine 125cc Suzuki - Gixxer 150cc Yamaha - FZ 150cc. Also, if you go for Yamaha R15 V4, that would be a steal in the cheap segment, a hell of a bike than any other in this range. *Aprilia - Aprilia 150 was showcased but didn't launch... So no huss KTM - Duke 125 Husqvarna - both models are available in 250cc also. So those are the cheapest technically.
On the cheapest Kawa you showed a video of the Z125 which is a “full” sized bike (15hp). The Grom competitor is the Z125 Pro (8,8hp). It looks even smaller then the Grom.

Icebear Fuerza is only $1600. Pretty good alternative to a custom grom. It’s already lower and stretched with a belly pan and bar end mirrors and half the price. It’s also a 125cc. Pretty good beginner bike. I recommend. Pay attention to the gears though as they’re ⬇️N1234 and ⬆️4321N instead of the standard ⬇️1⬆️N23456
Here in the Philippines the streets are dominated by 150cc class underbones in which the big four companies have contributed a lot of these bikes in the street for example YAMAHA - Sniper150/155 which is a 150cc class underbone and I have one of this bike I got the V1 or the 150cc which was priced at Php95,000 or $1,736.44 and the Sniper155 is priced at 114,500 SUZUKI - Raider150FI also known as the RFI or Satria is a 150cc underbone from suzuki and it is the fastest in the underbone class having a 62mm bore and a shortstroke and is priced at Php116,400 or $2,127.60 HONDA - RS150/GTR150 also a 150cc from honda they have the same engine setup and priced at Php102,900 or $1,881.32 Only the kawasaki don't offer a 150cc underbone but it has many alternatives these are just example or reason on why these bikes dominate the Philippine highway.
The cheapest HD, at least in other markets, will be the X 350. No official price yet, but the estimated price in India will be 2.5 lakh. Which works out at a little over $3000 US !

Let me shine some light on you for the cheapest motorcycles available in india. For suzuki there is a 'Gixxer 150' air cooled 13bhp naked , for ktm there is duke 125 which is liquid cooled, for Enfield there is 'Bullet 350' aka 'Standard 350' which is even cheaper than classic, for Kawasaki there is W175, air cooled since it is 50cc more than the one you mentioned you can ignore it. Forgot to mention Husqvarna 250s 👍
Hi ! I was always thinking that Honda CB125F is the cheapest motorcycle from Honda, not sure if you´re able to get in US and it is avaible only in EU. It´s a shame as it´s a really good bike, low price around 2600€, very fuel efficient - 1,3l/100km (which is unbelievable) and in my opinion just a perfect bike for city riding (as it lacks a bit of a power for rides out of the town). Excellent beginner bike in my opinion.

I’m 6’3”, very long legs, and my knees and back hate it. There's a written test and a riding test. Written test is 30 questions, riding test is keeping your two wheels between the lines on the ground (it's basically two circles arranged in a figure eight). If you don't wanna do that, take a motorcycle safety course which takes two days, or one weekend to complete. There are several community colleges that offer them and CHP also does them too. If you're under 21 years old, the course is under $200. If you're over 21, it's about $260 (in 2019 dollars, not accounting for inflation). Pass the course and this waives the riding portion of the DMV test so all you have to do is go in, take the test, and walk out with your M1 license.

No, it's a Yamaha so very reliable and meant to last through some abuse. A very good beginner cruiser, as long as you don't expect it to be what it's not.
Light weight and low seat makes it super maneuverable for parking in tight, out of the way spots. Awesome gas mileage. 80mpg or better. Pair of saddlebags and a backpack will fit plenty of groceries. Fast enough for legal highway speeds, (just be super aware, stay in slow lane and avoid tractor trailer wind gusts). Much better than a car for commuting to work. Simple to work on. About 75.00/year full coverage insurance. Not just for beginners, perfect for this short(and getting shorter), still working, 40+ year's riding experience, old rider. BTW my other bikes were Suzuki GS300L to learn on, Yamaha 650 maxim, Yamaha 750 virago, and Harley FLH full dressed. (Did i mention i was short?)

Why would Honda bring an ancient sample to the us when it has better options available that would be not much more money? In Australia the Grom is 5k AUD, the cheapest bike we have is the CB125e at 3.6k AUD, the CB125f is 3.9k

@AnAverageHuman i wouldn't know. In mexico we have the xre300 which is not available in the USA but they have the grom which we cant get. For the bigger bike, theres quite a few models we cant get in mexico
