    Mantises are such rewarding pets. Yes they have short lives, but they give so much joy in a short time. Their binocular vision means that you feel a connection with them, even if all they're thinking is "Whoa! What's that big creature with the dorky expression?". My current mantis has a broken arm, so I'm waiting to see if she moults and fixes it. Cross your fingers!

    I remember I started with the exotic hobby with a mantis when I was a kid. Then small centipedes, scolopendra genus ones then tarantulas and scorpions. Mantids are really easy to keep and you'll learn basic husbandry from them. Great video man

    If mantids are harmful because they don't have any venom, than Six Eyed Sand Spiders are harmless because they have the most potent venom of any spider. Perfect for your kids.

    • @erwinrommel1149
      @erwinrommel1149 6 лет назад

      Mack Milne I’ve heard the Brazilian wandering spider has the most potent venom

    • @mackmilne8155
      @mackmilne8155 6 лет назад

      It's debatable which one actually takes the title. Both are lethal and extremely dangerous, but in very different ways. The wandering spider uses a neurotoxin that is fast acting to paralyze and kill due to muscle failure. The Six Eyed Spider reportedly has an extremely powerful hemolytic and necrotic venom. It is slower to take effect but causes extreme damage. There are only 2 suspected cases of a bite on humans. One person died of internal hemorrhaging and the other lost an arm from necrosis (and possibly died as well, not too sure on that part). The wandering spider, however, is much more aggressive and likely to be in proximity of people, so it is no question which is more dangerous to humans.

    😂 Dark Den Master ... normally I agree with everything you say (HOW VERY UN-LADY LIKE OF ME 😂) ... but I have to disagree with you on Preying Mantis's being great pets for children BCUZ THEY HAVE SUCH A SHORT LIFE SPAN 😵 ... I was 10 or 11 years old when my pet Belostomatidae (I had to google it lol) aka: Gigantic Water Bug / Beetle DIED ON ME ... AND I CRIED HYSTERICALLY for a few days - and it's death SERIOUSLY UPSET ME...!!! Then my parents let me move up the "Pet Ladder" lol and go from having Water Beetles and Caterpillars as pets - to having Mice and Hamsters as pets 👍 ... they die too lol but at least they live for A FEW YEARS 👍 which meant my family DIDN'T have to have "Funerals" every few months - and only have Funerals once EVERY FEW YEARS ... AND IT SAVED ME A LOT OF TEARS AND A LOT OF HEARTACHE ... so personally speaking - I DON'T THINK that animals with a SUPER SHORT LIFESPAN 😭💔 MAKE GOOD PETS FOR CHILDREN. Much love from Canada ... 💕💋💕

    You should have trade it, if you don't want to buy an adult female to him. Adult male mantises are hard to come by in the hobby! After a week and some good meals, he is ready to mate! Also, it won't live long. If you keep it warm, he'll pass away in 6 to 8 weeks! He'll be very active in the first few weeks, constantly searching for the smell of a female. Then he'll run out of stamina, will stop eating, and slowly dies.
    Very sad. Don't let him die as a virgin!

      i had it and i think that if you are responsible you can get any tarantula as your first, for example my first tarantula was p irminia, everybody told me that i am retarded because i got her but i took care for her, even if they are really fast and many are aggressive i handled my irminia with a little fear but nevwr had any inciddnt with her
      with blonde i also had no issues just make hee enclosure with lower humidity and that is it
