    Yeah I used to hate spiders and actually have severe arachnophobia from having panic attacks when I was a kid because of bad dreams, but because of your videos I’ve actually began thinking of getting my own one! Also your videos are so informative and help me escape whenever I get really depressed, I always tune in and it helps calm my anxiety and just keeps my thoughts silent for a little bit! So yeah just wanted to say thanks and say you also help me with my anxiety and depression too! (Also changed my perspective on spiders completely)

They have two cats so I also have to cat-proof the encolsure somehow, anyone got tips for that? This actually is NOT a Lethocerus sp. giant water bug, this is a Laccotrephes sp., which belongs to a different but closely related group of true bugs commonly called "Water Scorpions".
    Care between the two groups should be pretty much the same, but as a rule of thumb I believe most water scorpions live longer and are also easier to breed than giant water bugs/toebiters. Water scorpions are also less voracious and like smaller prey items than Lethocerus.

    • @InvertebrateDude
      @InvertebrateDude 6 лет назад +2

      @Declan Hegge Yeah, I think there are even Laccotrephes species in Australia, as well as other genera I'm sure. :) I remember catching a Ranatra sp. here in North America, was not aggressive at all and easy to handle as well. Hopefully Petko will see this!

    I think at this point if I may.... it was your videos that made me buy my first curly hair tarantula in June of 2018... I now have 22 lol. I was terrified of tarantulas saw just how awesome they were from your videos and you were the first tarantula/exotic pet owner I subscribed to on RUclips. Now I’m on a lot and I follow yours weekly still.. I’m from Indiana here in the states. And just Incase your curious on what my newly found collection consist of..
    I have 6 slings 1/2inch to 11/2 inches and the other 16 are all juveniles
    I got my curly hair
    1st curly, 2nd rose hair, stripe knee, curly hair again cus their great eaters, then rose hair again which is the sibling to my other rose hair, then Mexican blonde, another stripe knee, then 3 pink toes... 1 is avic avic the other 2 or Avicularia minatrix, so now at 10... I got Mexican red knee, then Goliath bird eater only 51/2 inch female, salmon pink bird eater, then I went to an expo and all on the same day I got .... 2 blue foot baboons, Indian ornamental, ornamental baboon, Trinidad Chevron, Brazilian black and white, Chaco gold knee, Mexican red leg, and Asian fawn. Now that being said other then my 5 inch bird eater, my other 21 ts are literally 1/2 inch to 3 inch max and that 3 inch is my stripe knee everything else is 21/2 inch or smaller so I got everyone so I could grow with them. Rather then getting fully grown from the start. I must say by now we should be considered the “Dark Den Family” or Dark Den Universe... this is about so much more then just you, you have inspired many people with huge fears of spiders like myself to become avid collectors of the hobby. Thanks again and keep it up man.

    Hey Petko. I really love your channel. Thanks for uploading regulary! Are you ever gonna get a Trapdoor-Spider? I think that would be a really cool asset! Loving greets from Berlin, Germany :-)

    The snorkel was kinda neat. Interesting bug. You mention Exotics Lair a lot. I watch both of you daily.

    I'm not sure if you can find water bugs of this size in Croatia,but where I live,in Greece,you can find specimens up to 11cm,many times holding frogs on their proboscis.They are just like the assassin bugs.

    like the Mantid zine. I like Spiders, I love Scorpions but when it come to the world of "bugs" my #1 is always the mantis (well, Stick-Insects are pretty sweet too). I'll have to check out that 'zine sometime

    You've got too many comments on your last video you probably missed my comments so I thought I'd say it here too cos I really want to know (btw, cool new animal!) --
    Hi Petko! Another great video, love it. I've been following your channel for awhile now and have always been interested in your enclosure builds. I'd love to know the dimensions for your rufilata enclosure as I will be getting one next week. Hope you see this and will be able to reply. Thank you! ❤

    Nothing but respect for you, Petko, but why would you tweeze that poor thing like a common feeder roach? It was very clearly in distress.

    I've seen pick up trucks run over those things, and they just get up and walk away! :O Totally thought it was going to grab the tweezers and pinch you back! LOL
