  • My plan was to stay as long as I could in the Cairngorms of Scotland, one of the harshest places in Britain deep in the wild where the weather can get extreme.
    I have no experience of camping, hiking, survival or bushcraft. Just a regular unfit guy wanting to push myself to the limits.
    Follow me in this 16 part RUclips journey every Wednesday & Sunday as I wild camp in Scotland.

    Took some of those same dehydrated foods to a convention I went to.
    They were delicious and easy to prepare, and easy to pack. I want to order like a crate of them. They are about 7$ USD each here.

    Doing a little pondering myself. Does it make sense if it seems to be always raining in Scotland that it may be why so many Scott's emigrated to other parts of the world. What do you think? Scotland looks very nice though.

    Ok don't get me wrong, the place you are hiking and camping is the most beautiful place I think I have ever seen, but why did you decide to hike and camp in a place that never stops raining?
    Would have been nice if you could have talk to some local folk that could tell you about the area.

    Hey Dan, I worked at a cinema for about 4-5 years, and I can tell you, the movie still runs. These day the digital projectors are all timed and automated, and can be shut down to save energy, but that doesn't happen often. But even with the old film negative system, the projectionist would still have to lace through the film into the projector, so there was no stopping the film early at all, the film had to go all the way through and re-spool, ready for the next session.
    Hope this answers your ponders mate! Keep up the good work!

    • @MrTaLL9000
      @MrTaLL9000 9 лет назад +1

      Haha, no worries mate. The thing that surprises people the most about cinema projectors, it wasn't until about 4-5 years ago they stopped using large spools or film negatives to actually shot the feature. It's only recently projectors have gone digital (At least here in Australia). The films used to be crazy heavy to move around too, so working in a double level cinema and having the elevator break was not fun

    Dan, not sure I've ever commented but I do like your videos. Proteins, fats, and carbs. Lu Bu marched his army through hell on rice and what they could catch. I love watching you do Scotland. Just some words of support for when people are screwing with you from a dude putting cancer through the wringer. Keep doing what you enjoy and other people will enjoy watching you having fun. The people messing with you are unhappy people who don't yet understand they won't be happy making others unhappy.

    LOL. In school they used to tell us to remember the name Roy G. Biv for the color.
    Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet.
    Never heard the song before.
    That warning sign was hilarious. It's like they saw you walking around and put it up for you!
    I went to a movie once and was the only person in the theater. If there's no one in there they cancel it. They told me they played it just for me. =P
    BTW you look really scary in the dark.

    that dead tree that's left standing at 13:09 was potentially left there when the last trees were removed so that the birds of prey had somewhere to land. I could be wrong there but iv heard that before about some random dead trees that are left standing.

    Some of the Roman Emperors collected antiques, so its been going on for a long time. In the past antique was defined as an object more than 100 years old. Over 50 was defined as veteran. But thats been forgotten these days.

    Dying of old age in my opinion just means there is no real cause of death other than you just got tired of living. But from a scientific stand point it may be that you died of diabetes or hear failure which happens as we age and our body begins to stop working as it once did. Also on the antique thing. The true meaning of an antique here in the states is pretty much anything of desire from a by gone age. Mostly the ritzier things of wealthier people but collectors can make anything an antique these days. Thanks for the great videos Dan.Try a summer trip next time, you look miserable. LOL

    When people die of old age it is usually a deterioration of the body and often a number of diseases that in most cases may not cause death but in the case of "old people" they are unable to recover from a general run down state and they die. Also oftentimes the Dr. doesn't really know the exact cause to list on the death certificate so "old age" is a general term adopted for this reason....

  • @walkertongdee
    @walkertongdee 9 лет назад

    The word Antiques is a relatively new term and yes old things were always collected by some people but others did not care for them and preferred the new I phone...

    About that notice at 11:25 > as the text of it already indicates, you're here near a favourite swimming route of the wild Salmon. Some 300 m upstream of Lui bridge - where you stood - there's a Salmon ladder too. Scottish elite & upperclass very afraid of bacterial warfare :-) Think about mad cows, dizzy pigs, birdflue AND mad Salmon :-)

    Concerning your thoughts on old age...
    In the 'old days', on death certificates, if no obvious cause of death could be discovered, the attending physician that was responsible for making the house call to pronounce the person dead would write on the death certificate, "Infirmities of old age." Even if they were 40. Lol.
    Nowadays, you wont see "old age" on a death certificate anymore... Its North Carolina [where im from] law now that that reasoning cannot be listed by a Dr or a pathologist as the cause... It needs to be 'congestive heart failure, dementia, etc...' BUT if there is no explanation at all, they can put "Failure to thrive." Random information but kinda interesting to know maybe. [ I managed a funeral home for 3 years. ] Ive pondered the same thing before though... how old is 'old'?

    You don't really "die of old age" it's more along the lines of your immune system just giving up and you dying to thing you usually wouldn't. So it varies, or at least its something along those lines. I asked that of my Biology teacher years ago so I may remember it wrong, take it with a grain of salt.
