    I think it's a grip that makes the bat more stable when you're playing forehand blocks, but once you try to play backhands or really hit the ball on the forehand you'd better change it (as he did). But I'm not sure Vladi ever did give him a lesson. His form's been bad off the Olympics. I had him as slight favourite to win this after the way he played early this year. But now...I don't think you can say anyone's in brilliant form. I'm still rooting for Vladi for sentimental reasons.

    It seemed like the grip puts limits on spin. Most of his shots were flat or block punches. If he can get spin on the shot he should vary it a bit.

    lol at the guys complaining that this grip is bad....the inventor of this grip attained 8th in the world and beat Waldner in his prime.

    • @inyourface123
      @inyourface123 7 лет назад

      Can you you provide citation for both your claims - Dan Seemiller reaching top 8 ranking in the world and beating Waldner in his prime? AFAIK, Danny never was quite successful outside USA.
      Also, the grip is bad for modern play style, period.

    • @Tigrboy

      Seemiller actually reached 19th in the world and was on upward trajectory. He used anti on one side and twiddled very deceptively. In his book he claims, that he was the reason why the rule change to have different color rubbers for backhand and forehand came into effect. That rule change really hampered his deceptiveness.

    • @Tigrboy
      @Tigrboy 7 лет назад +1

      Also it was Eric Boggan who used similar grip who beat Waldner. Boggan was once ranked 18th in the world. Seemiller never beat Waldner.

      beat waldner in his prime?stop bullshitting people please. The grip maybe effective in the 70's and 80's when technique was still developing, but for modern play is absolutely crap. ITs definitely admirable to beat boys at his age with this grip but you can see that this grip has limitations. It is a wasted talent, he has excellent ball feeling and good stoke mechanics plus good tactics but he wont achieve much with this grip, as expected in his europe youth participations he was not in top positions.

    • @gdounito
      @gdounito 7 лет назад

      One more wthing, seemilller was not the only player for the rule change, there were many chinese and europeans that twiddled alot with pips and anti. Clearly an unfair advantage and definitely bad for sport specatcle , as your opponent does not know what is coming to him. Same thing happened when the first sponged rubber appeared. Seemiller is undoubtedly a contributor to this sport, but definitely over rated. He never achieved anything outside the US. just search his results on google before claiming that he beat waldner or that he was top in the world.

      @@MrRothhaendlesorry but this is good for the sport, to have a variety of grips to be developed and get matured over the decades, but people like you would copy the most used grip so most young talent wouldn’t invest in new grips and unlock some interesting table tennis play

      @@ibraheemkhan6660 I agree with you! The two best players in American history used the Seemiller grip. Danny Seemiller and Eric Boggan.

    This grip is only good for blocking and it will get you no where at the end. The "Wall" crushed the little boy at the end.
