There is actually an option to reset display settings of the VRX if you set it to unsupported resolution of your goggles. If I remember it correctly you have to press and hold back button for 5 seconds and it sets the resolution back to 720p/60.
Major drawback of this vrx is that it is limited to 16:9 output 😞 ...(there is a 4:3 thing in menu but it adds blackborders. Basically still outputs 16:9) in fatshark hdo1 everything gets stretched out... was on the fence to buy hdzero goggles and this puched me over... so we will se if I buy mostly hdzero transmitters or caddex transmitter going forward now.
Interesting -- I'll have to look really hard next time to see if I notice any screen tearing while flying with my Sky04x v2. I either do not have it or just missed it.
I hope HDzero runs another sale - I missed out on the pre-order - they should have a sale - lot of us do not get our tax returns until April. They are missing out on sales.
Hi Ian - I have the Fatshark HD3 attached and it has 720p not the 1080. I wondered if you tried goggles that had only 720p - and what your impression was. I wish I could see screenshots or sample footage of the difference in image quality between the two - I can assume it is better but a picture is worth a 1,000 words…
_"worst case scenario"_ Not sure you could call the Avatar VRX on Sky04x's worst case, lol. Those optics are choice, and the rest (fit, VRx, power) quite nice too (if pricey).
You said you would be making a video explaining why the osd Betaflight and in the goggles. Since adding the Butter firmware. If you move an object in the betaflight window, eg GPS top right corner. It puts that icon bottom left in my dji goggles.
Ian, thank you very much for this informative video. I had a question about stock Walksnail antennas and couldn't find a decent review. No, I know the antennas are fine :)
Why the VTx was overheating in standby mode at 25mW? I am assuming that Standby mode is a pit mode and should be putting out only 10mW. I did not see any image improvement between the two goggles, it was quite patchy resolution. This could be the result of CMOS based camera which uses rolling shutter method. A CCD sensor based camera with global shutter could improve this (I think).
Yes the VTX will overheat if left on the bench even in low power mode 25mw. It’s not all about the RF power. The SOC and power circuit creates a lot of heat in its self.
JB tested the latency of this VRX. He found the Very Best it can do is 42ms latency. Real world flying he said it would be more like 52ms - 57ms latency. I think it's SOOOOOO FUNNY how when DJI digital came out people were saying the typical 28ms latency of DJI was way too much! Haahaaha Then, this tacky, set top box, with it's hella hokey wires going every which way, with pretty much DOUBLE THE LATENCY, is fine to fly with! Well then, go out and buy it and find out! LOL Go ahead, ORDER TODAY! 💸💸💸 LOL 🥴🤣🤦♂
@@MadRC PLEASE pin your comment! SOOOOOO many pilots put so much emphasis on latency, when I feel no difference, and most of what "They think" they feel is made up by their brain!
General rule of thumb is don’t power something that transmits a signal without an antenna. If it only receives. You’re fine to power it without an antenna.
Hmm honestly the dynamic range on the cameras on walksnail is basically shit. The ground whilst flying in the park looks like grass used to on my old Eachine racer that had a crap cmos camera without any WDR. How are they not using cameras at least as good as the Nebula Pro camera at the moment this system seems totally ruined by the cameras you are stuck with and there terrible dynamic range. You would be mental to get this system over a DJI v2 and a Nebula pro It costs more and its worse. Its kind of funny as Hdzero cameras are some of the best out there now for a good balanced flyable image but sadly the link limits the ultimate clarity of the image. Walksnail has very good link quality but terrible cameras. O3 has amazing image and link quality but the OSD looks like it was designed by a sight impaired ten year old. If O3 gets full support for customised osd hd fonts it will be the system for long range. HDzero is by far the best for proximity flying and racing. It seems if DJI wakes up then walksnail will be the third wheel tbh.
This is a very short sighted opinion. Yes Walksnail isn't quite mature yet but DJI wasn't perfect when it came out either. However WS has been steadily improving and listening to the community. If people don't invest into WS, Caddx won't have the revenue to continue improving it and DJI will ultimately win....and their price will go up. IMO competition in digital FPV is a good thing and we should be supporting new entrants like WS, rather than discouraging people from buying it.

That's correct. Although it's been nearer to ten seconds or so when I've done it.
It says on the card that comes in the box.
Haha I missed that lol.
Mads Tech is the most underrated channel in FPV.
18:34 There is a way to revert back. I believe it was holding down the return arrow button for 10 sec or something…

Latest firmware has an new 4:3 (full) mode that basically stretches the 4:3 image to 16:9 so it should display properly on HDO1.
Why the hdzero not affected with hdmi latency?
This thing rocks on the HDZ goggles.
Fly the sim
I just saved you $250

Me either, no tearing on sky04x v2.
Interesting. Thanks for the data point it gives me something to look at more.
Looking for a recommended vrx antenna upgrade for this vrx's included Redbird antennas.
Any suggestions?

Hy im a new subscriber to your chanell .Id like to ask where i can purchase HD ZERO googles?
Hello sir can it be paired with dji air 03 unit ?? Can't buy dji fpv goggles they are costly.
17:54 WA, great info on this module, could I fit this module on DJI goggles RE? Regards Alastair ( Western Australia)
Technically yes they have hdmi in so should work.

Got mine in an old 10 inch Monitor. To my surprise it does 1080p at 60 FPS..Looks amazing for my FW stuff...🤔😳😏🇬🇧

thank you so much for this.
Would you advise getting the walksnail set instead of analoge for flying inside a building with walls etc. Penetration better or about the same?
I just tried my for the first time this morning, and the latency is UNBEARABLE.
Great video Ian, Did you change the banner on your channel ? Looks good. Thanks for all you do Stay safe my friend.😎
Hi, for Skyzone 04X mount can I have your like stl ?
Great review bud. I'm looking forward to getting mine from aliexpress soon hopefully 🤞
Thanks for the tip at 18:16 . HD Zero users will never know that struggle. 😁👍
How is the battery drain? I’ve been informed that they drain your battery so quickly.
It absolutely hammers the battery lol. I got a JB battery cable to use with a bigger lipo pack and that helps alot!
It’s pretty heavy
@@MrTimmyGT ah I see so it’s best to have it on a separate battery than the goggles.
i get 45 minutes till it alarms with an old tattu 1300mah 4s on my cobraX powering both!

I get better detail with my Fusion vrx...
So would one recommend this method over the walksnail goggles?
Can i use the runcam nighteagle hd camera with this receiver?
Sadly no. It’s DJI only and there is no DJI VRX module.

Yea that IE2000 is an Artosyn AR 8003s.

H.265 video compression and COFDM digital modulation are very computationally intensive stuff, even for an ASIC.
does the VNA readings mean that the patch performs best around channel 4 and the omni around channel 6 ?
Technically yes the lowest point of loss will be the most conversion to RF.

I think you will find for 80% of pilots latency is not an issue. Everyone makes noise about it but I can tell you now it’s not the be all and end all.

Not far from overheating on the bench there :)
