    • @ArtemisKitty
      @ArtemisKitty 5 месяцев назад

      Depends on the compatibility with my existing hardware/planned future builds, battery life and range IRL (not as reported, since that's never accurate) and cross-brand compatibility. Since I build, my stuff is never the same from drone to drone.
      Also... for that same price, you can easily pick up a "Refreshed" fat shark or similar from the rain forest online merchant YT doesn't allow named, so it would be a comparison there between a known good product and a new contender. They would have to offer enough more than the old one for me to justify it.
      I do applaud the price, though, as this puts it in the affordable realm of a lot more people vs the average 3x this price that I see on other brands.
      Edit: by existing hardware, I mean components like chargers/batteries/controllers I already have from other RC hobbies besides drones. But... as a new user, I'd still want to know I can use it on any future ones I own/build. At least for a few years. I hate buying stuff that's outdated/unusable 6 months later.
      Edit 2: Oh, except it's not compatible with anything, even the camera modules we might have already, so the actual entry price is $379.99... (Can't just plug in an existing starvis module to their tx module or anything, which also limits you to ONLY using their cameras. Closed system.)

    FINALLY! I've been avoiding DJI for a while due to personal reasons, but man... I won't lie and say I wasn't jealous of their FPV. I feel both amusement at their paying 10x as much as I did and not building it themselves, and also a bit of jealousy over the amazing range/FPV they get straight out of the box. We fixed the range thing, pretty much, so it's just been a wait for the FPV. Thanks again, but I think I can hear my wallet cursing in the next room already! Gotta get this!🙂

    Thanx for this great review!
    Do you have access to the FatShark Recon HD Walksnail goggles and could you do a comparison with the Avatar Goggles L ?
    They seem to be very similar, as far as I know with basically these differences:
    - The Recon HD have an external video output, the Avatar don't.
    - The Recon HD can be used with optical correction glasses, the Avatar is too narrow for that.
    - The Recon HD have an FOV of 44°, the Avatar 75° - is this like comparison between a home tv screen and imax cinema?
    And what else differences are there? Is there a difference in visual quality, etc...?

      its wireless. SO the main recieving headset passes the image onto the ride along set. and im not 100% sure this, BUT from what i have heard. IF you start loosing signal etc, the main goggles will stop trying to "broadcast" etc and focus everythingon getting your signal back to the main pilot if your drone is about to be lost etc.

    • @UAVfutures
      @UAVfutures  5 месяцев назад +1

      great question. So all digital systems need an reciever and a transmitter. we call the transmitter either the VTX for video transmitter or airunit. The RX or reciever is basically whats built into the goggles we wear. all the digital systems need their own system to intergrate with, no mix and match. This specific system is the walksnal avatar system. So the drone has its own walksnail airunit that only walksnail goggles can decode and recieve. does that make sense?
