This is a nice little video. I really enjoyed the tips and tricks you showed. This is were the wall trimmer stands out! You were able to cut the whole area in and still have enough to tuck down the gully.

i usually go ahead and either strait edge my doorway or row cut it first and line it up with the room. it makes it easier to seam for me

Absolutely. I appreciate all your tips and tricks. I was burned out on flooring, driving 200 milesa day commute, just to load up and get home. On top of averaging 1000 yards a week with furniture and demo with 1 helper. When I saw your video for young and new installers, it brought back the light I used to see this trade in. Check out this video I've just found it's called (stretching in heavy thick carpet) it's a lady in a pink vest power stretching a carpet and it reminded me about the time you said about stretching a carpet to hard.

Great video with good info. you mention the baseboard is raised a bit but the track is not. I am getting ready to frame in a closet, is it it a good idea to raise the sliding closet door track if I know I am going to get carpet?

Robbie Jeffrey right now i am really liking the Roberts kicker but it’s the first one I have ever had so I don’t know how long it’s going to last, I have always used crane kickers and I know they last a long time, but that Roberts feels really good, and they Taylor 890 seam iron It’s probably my favorite
Hey Ruben I love your videos, am a new apprentice to carpet laying. I struggle with reach in closets Mainly on getting the carpet to stay set on closet track tackstrips/ tucked into track consistently. It seems like random luck to me when it stays lol annnd thats not gonna make for a capable installer. Plug me in with any extra tips if you dont mind? (We get alot of stiff berbers don't get much plush they told me learning on berbers is a little harder) thanks in advance for yyour time if you get back to me on that.

I have a closet under the stairs that doesn’t have trim. If I’m just using it for a teeny tiny office and place to read/write, do I need to use a kicker? Im super intimidated, and we’ll I don’t have one. Is there another way

I know it's a funny question but I've always noticed that you have a tool pouch that you put your knife inside. Raised base boards is the way to go. No trimming necessary, just tuck and move on to the next room/livingroom and you're done

I've never laid carpet and I'm trying to do a closet as well. The videos very helpful but it doesn't show what you're talking about with circles and in the corners.

Only thing I would do different is I would have cut the door way in also then snugged every wall with the kicker!!! The closet is a standing, more than "traffic bearing"area is why we don't need to get crazy with the stretching!!! Don't think it's ever gonna need a restretch do you?? Lol

I do about three restretches a week. All I do is repairs and restretches. Oddly enough the closet area is often is wrinkled. Not sure why
Yea, no need to cut down four walls!! I would have started at the door slide , cut and tuck, then kicked away from door , trim and tuck, then trim and tuck east wall, then kick and tuck West wall!! That just me!!! I start at the door in case of a miss cut.!! Are you starting to recognize my name yet?? I comment on a lot of your videos ??!!!!

I watch a lot of videos of different people doing installs or repairs,, I was lucky to have good teachers that showed me and told me !!! The average guy only has a knife and a chisel, not those fancy tools.
