      @@justdoityourself one more question…I’ve read a lot of debate on OEM vs deter,asker. How is the one you bought holding up?

      The only time I had issue with the axle was Nissan Versa, other than that aftermarket a doing their job. Just do jot buy the cheapest one. Get one made by any of well known brands.

    You correctly mention the new axle bolt and 35ft-lbs, but this bolt is torque to yield. Are you supposed to tighten it 90 degrees after 35 ft-lbs? This is important.

    • @justdoityourself
      @justdoityourself  Год назад

      That is a very good question. From what I learned recently it is supposed to be 26 ft-lbs + 90°. Having said that I do not have a document to reference, sorry.

    what were the symptoms that you had that made you know you needed to replace the drivers side axle?

    Wow, you made it look easy! I have a pry bar like yours, but I cannot get it in there to apply pry force with the frame in the way. Was your pry bar tip pointing outward or inward when you got it in there? I can get mine in with the tip pointing inward, but I won't be able to pry with the tip flipped. Could you explain a bit more on this? Much appreciated!

    • @justdoityourself
      @justdoityourself  Год назад

      Hi there! If I remember correctly the tip was pointing inward, couldn't get it in the other way. If you are not doing that on a hoist, try to get the car as high as you safely can, that should allow you to stick your pry bar in right spot.

    • @dyzking794
      @dyzking794 Год назад +1

      Thanks for the quick reply! I guess I didn't pry from the right spot since the tip slips out when applying pry force with the tip pointing inward. I'll give it another try.

      @@justdoityourself Still no luck :( The inverted tip simply slips out when force is applied. Hate to admit the defeat, so I'll work on it a bit more. Thanks!

    did you have to let out the transmission fluid before?

    • @justdoityourself
      @justdoityourself  Год назад

      This transmission is sealed and there is no direct contact of the axle with the fluid.

      Is it still necessary to coat the end of the axle with transmission fluid before inserting it? Thanks @@justdoityourself

      @justdoityourself  Год назад

      @@Tyler-sk9xb I would not recommend to put it in dry, but you can use other type of oil, not just that super expensive transmission fluid.
