I haven’t been able to find a good priced copy anywhere so my only nostalgia was from twitch streams with people loudly yelling in a different language and small youtube playthroughs that were mostly taken down by copyright. Hopefully one day i can find a good copy of this game and livestream it. This brings back so many memories for me! Finally i have a longplay to keep my past memories alive while i find my own copy.
Man, this brings so many memories. Diablo was one of my fav games as a kid, and the sequel kept me hooked during my teen years. A shame Blizzard North is no more.
Something got lost along the way, the Diablo of then wasn't over the top, it was paced and didn't rely on MASSIVE screen filling effects and a million things at once. Now everything is about how much bullshit can we fit on the screen at once to appease the audience of purely visual stimuli.
Diablo 1 was just a simple horror-themed RPG. Combat was secondary to ambiance and tone. The story was extraordinarily simple and small-scale (a small hamlet is beset by demons, and it is slowly revealed why it's happening), but it worked to make the player feel less like some kind of "chosen hero" and more like just some wretched, lonely traveler that is the only one remotely capable of solving this problem. The tone slowly shifts from "fighting zombies in a spooky crypt" to "fighting for your life as you encounter horrors beyond belief deep below the surface of the world." While you do level up and gain new equipment, effectively becoming stronger and more capable, there's still always a sense that you are ill-equipped to deal with the kind of evil that inhabits this hellish underworld, and it's wonderful. Diablo 2 returned with a much, MUCH bigger focus on gameplay, mostly with the stat-building, skill-tree mechanics, and the iconic loot system. The story was blown up from being small-scale with the threat of becoming large-scale, to simply large-scale. We get about 50 times more background information on Diablo and the other prime evils, their plans, their history, their powers, etc. We now take control of one of seven grand heroes, and travel across the entire world with the goal of destroying three ancient and powerful-beyond-human-comprehension evil forces. Player empowerment is a big part of the game, as you grow and become more able to fend of massive hordes of demons and beasts with your overwhelming power. Both have their merits, but have wildly different focus. They are most easily compared to Terminator 1 and Terminator 2, really; both great movies, but very very different from one another, despite being so closely connected.

Mage is the best char for D1, just first 4 lvls are pain to play. Till you gets hands on first book of mana shield. After then, the gameplay is just a park-stroll. :)
I remember this game. As you descended into the lower depths of Hell, it actually became scary, like a horror movie. Fun game! Glad to see it again.
Came here after the awfulness that was the Diablo Immortal unveil that happened at Blizzcon this year.
If we could have this Diablo format on mobile, I'd be down for that. I'm sure our phone's can run this game now. Just need to figure out an interface.
@@90FirstGenPGT try exagear rpg
@@aryat8579 does this work with D1?
@@90FirstGenPGT well I do play it with D2
@@aryat8579 nice I'll have to give it a try
Nostalgia hits really hard, all the quotes, sounds, the music etc. omg
When you accidentaly hit one of the Blood Knights with your sword at 7.56:23 is pure gold haha
This and Kings quest was some of my favorite pc games
Same! As well as Heroes of Might and Magic.
I wish they would remaster this game, all i ask for is too see items on ground toggle :P.
And maybe running / faster movement in town.
Rob C a stash and gold not using inventory space would be nice. Also maybe holding the mouse button to continuously attack.
@@robc6022 you can speed up the running in town. There's an option for it.
@@lisvender you can leave unused items including gold on the ground in town. It never disappears. Just remember to pick it up before you save and shut it off for the day. Yeah been there done that 😭
Diablo 2 LoD longplay after this?
Am I the only one who tried clicking on the screen forgetting that I wasn't actually playing the game?
Nossa mano!
was only able to beat this classic with the Rogue. Frustrating. But i had a lot of fun playing it and 2.
Yeah, Rogue was the first I was able to beat it with. After playing it enough and getting experience, I was eventually able to beat it with the Sorcerer. I've never beaten the game with the Warrior.
@@robc6022 I played and finished Diablo 1 over 40 times with all classes. Howewer, with warrior is a bit more hard, but not impossible:)
When menu at 2:00 displayed, and nothing happened for a while, I've forgot in nostalgy memories during intro, that it is only video, and I've tried to move mouse to the Single Player option. :)
As a kid watching my dad playing this game, the eerie music just scares me.
This is the game that made me fall in love with gaming.
Childhood memories right here.
I loved this game back in the 90's
I was in college when this came out. Needless to say my marks started to slip for a short while.
happy new year guys I'm hoping you guys do longplays for all 3 diablo games
I love watching you getting owned by the steel lords 6 hours and above.
2:24:00 It appears that many firebolts aren't connecting. If holding shift while casting maybe you need to aim for their feet.
Stay a while, and listen...
They ain't kidding. Eight hours? That's a hell of a timer. Aw well, Geronimo!
Lots of nostalgia here. I played countless hours back in the day. That music in the town, so creepy and familiar!
I still remember the "YOU DRINK WATER??"
So much fun watching this! I used to spend every free hour with this game back in the day! Love it!
Oh man being a low level mage was so hard! Love this
Hope you're working on longplaying Diablo II as well~
i still remember when i entered a computer shop looking for a pc with a Quake game. i saw the icon for diablo, clicked it and i was immediately hooked. that was around 1997, time flies really fast.
1:45 - 3:10 thank you for playing back the whole sound
You drink water?
Ironically, made when Blizzard still had a soul.
