HOW TO USE GROOVES/MIDI FROM NATIVE INSTRUMENTS DRUMMER SERIES | IN DEPTH
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 18 мар 2017
- In this video we will look at how to use the included grooves in the Native Instruments Drummer Series. All the Drummer Series instruments employ grooves in the same way, whether it's, STUDIO DRUMMER, MODERN DRUMMER, ABBEY ROAD | 60's, 70's, 80's DRUMMER, ect...
You will see how to get the grooves/MIDI out of the KONTAKT instrument. How to access the grooves without even opening KONTAKT or a DRUMMER instrument. You will also see how to use the included grooves with other drum plugins like, BFD3, Superior Drummer, and more, by paying attention to the KEY MAP.

thank you. had kontakt for years and always wondered how to use the grooves in actual daws. you're the man!!!!!!
Bruh, I been wanting to work with drums, got studio drummer and was immediately intimidated by the fact that I couldn't get the midi grooves. I just about gave up and regretted even getting it before I was comfortable making my own stuff, but your video then saved me! Thank you so much for actually answering some of our simple questions. Now I can use the midi instead of just bussing it to an audio track
This is great!!!! Resolved a lotta questions I had. And learned new things which is going to be awesome in my workflow from now on!! Thank you!!!
Thanks for the video - many of us never read readme files, hence we are all flocking to such videos.....you helped me out
You answered my question in less than 1 minute of the video! Thank you! :)
Great info. Thanks BenoniStudio!
Thank You! Great vid, answered my question right away & gave me info I'll need later

You got me. Great info and very pleasant presentation. Wish I'd known about you a couple of years ago.
Great video, things explained simply, thank you
Thank you so much for your explanation, it sure was helpful!

thanks for the video!!!!!
Cool, 1st video answered my question, and More! lol, Thanks. Really my question was how the 'Select by MIDI' button worked, but this is even better.
7 TIMES THANK YOU!
Excellent job. Subscribed. :)
a BIG THANK YOU!!!
Thanks! Very helpful
OMFG HTANK YOU SO MUCH UR A LIFE SAVER
If you have the midi pattern playing in the session drummer software, you can make changes to timing, swing, and overall velocity. THEN when you import the pattern via the import button, your pattern will import ADJUSTED! Very helpful. For example, you could start with a low velocity, import, raise the velocity a bit, import, and repeat several times, and you have a buildup!
That's an important point. I'm glad you mentioned it here.
Thank you so much!
Thanks, man!
Thank you for this! Was pulling my hair out. That technique is NOT obvious (like everything else in Kontakt, lol).
Thanks for the tip
Thanks really helpful
thx. saved a lot of my time ;)
Great. I've been wondering how to get the midi out, Now I know. Thanks 🙏🏽
Cool, thanks for watching bro
THANKS MAN !!!
Thank You Sir !!!
great..thanks
Great. Thank you :)
Thank you so much Brother
I knew there must be a way to do that ... somehow ... but would never have found it without some help. Thanks!
Ok fantastic! I look it :)
Hey I just wanted to mention a slightly better hack that I have been using for years... in the mac finder you can make a separate folder, in that folder copy all the "MIDI Files" folders from a specific drummer one at a time and rename them, for example, copy the "02 Blues" folder from Abbey Road 50s to the new Master folder and call it Blues (Abbey 50s), do this for every drummer and make sure not to move or rename the original MID File folders for each drummer or you will create a script error, so now will all the MIDI files combined into one folder... Disco (Abbeys 70s), Funk (Studio), Heavy Metal (Abbey's 80s), etc you now copy that complete master folder into each individual NI Kontakt Drummer, each drummer will now have their original numbered folders and all the renamed folders from the other drummers, if you delete the original numbered folders you get a script error when loading a kit that may reference a pattern on load; this may sound like a lot of duplication, but the files are small, all together about 4MB; so now each individual drummer will have from withing Kontakt all the patterns, ready to audition perfectly right within the plugin !, literally 10,000 MIDI patters and named and organized and can be auditioned and dragged directly to a track, I never shared this, but maybe it will help others
I think I get the idea but could you make a video of it please? 🙏🏻 that sounds like a great idea. Thank you in advance bro
nice one
thank u thank u soooo much
Thank you
I love you so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
THIS WAS AWESOME - I use BFD3 as well and like to arrange all my drum tracks in their Groove editor track built into BFD3. It's fairly easy to rearrange grooves in BFD3 before recording them into your DAW (PT 2020 myself). Too bad there isn't a way to drag the NI midi grooves into the Groove Editor of BFD3 - or is there???
Loved the video, left a sub °⌣°
Thanks for the great Tutorial! Only thing is, i'm using "One Kit Wonder" from GGD in Kontakt Player and it doesn't show that Symbol next to the Midi Player to drag the File into Logic. Is it depending on what kind of Instrument you use in Kontakt, wether it works or not?
Thanks for ur nice video . But I'm really need to know is it important for drums be I scale or not . If must be in scale . How to do that. Any library can control scale before playing drums 🥁
Thank you for all your helpful vids, appreciate it! This was a question I had of course. Running Pro Tools 12.8 and Kontakt5. I have dragged and dropped a studio drum kit groove onto a stereo Inst track and for some reason Pro tools is not reading the groove correctly,it is the right drum kit just not the groove at all! I am wondering if I am missing anything here? Thanks for any assistance! best dp
It could be a bug. I would start with trashing prefs. Also remember that any modifiers are included in the groove you drag out, things like swing, tempo, etc... We have a more in-depth video about the Drummer series here:

@@BenoniStudio Thank you! Oddly enough I don't see any of my Preferences? I have checked Home library and HD Library, no preferences? So odd. I am running a iMac Sierra. . Is that possible to not have Pref. for Pro tools? Running 12.8.2. Thanks for any help!
Does it sound better than any EZX with Toontrack ez drummer 2 too ?
Hello! Does anyone know if there are grooves in 3/4?
You saved my ass!
👍
Hey there im easing drumlab. I do exactly this and drag the midi pattern to the drumlab track. But sound will only come out if i activate the play button in drumlab. Otherwise its mute. Anyone got any ideas?
when you drag and drop the midi into pro tools, how does protools know which kit you are using and everything is setup? Do you have to click on the kontakt vst in pro tools and set it up? this is driving me crazy because all I want to do is string together a few grooves to make an entire song, but I have to use a DAW and load the vst and blah blah blah. Isn't there a way to just export the grooves as audio files instead of midi files? so I could just drag them onto audacity or something?
How can I still use the grooves when I change all my mapping the way I prefer it on my controller. When I layout my pads and mapping none of the grooves sound right since all the mapping is different. And the stock mapping is horrible. Nothing is in a suitable area and it all needs to be changed. Any info would be great.
Any idea how to combine grooves without manually clicking the notes in? Is there a way to drag grooves on top of eachother without replacing the midi underneath? I thought turning MIDI merge on would solve this but it doesnt.
If you want to combine two existing MIDI clips you'll have to use the special command. Here's how

Thanks so much man, i just have a weird problem with Drum Lab, i click on it on native instruments software, and nothing happens after i installed it all the other programs such as guitar rig appeared on my Desktop except for Drum Lab can you help please?
Drum Lab is not a standalone product. It runs inside Kontakt.
thanks a million @@BenoniStudio
Can't drag and drop the midi grooves in any way : / Fl Studio, WIndows.
I can put it into my daw, but I don’t get any output audio
Thanks, this could've been designed in a more obvious way by NI.
I still cant drag and drop please help me
Hi a have.a question. I want to record the midi notes in realtime in cubase. so what will I do? I Will play Pattern from the AR 70s Drummer and switch between patterns and at the same moment I will record these midi notes as midi data. does it work? How? Best regards Chris
Not sure what you mean. If you just want to record in MIDI you don't need to use the patterns.
@@BenoniStudio Thanks for your answer. Does the Abbey Road Drummer have an MIDI- OUTPUT so that i cant record in realtime the midinotes directly in the track. Then you play the patterns directly in the drummer i want to record it in the track. Best regards Chris
I'm not following. You don't record into Abbey Rode Drummer, you record the MIDI into the DAW and that MIDI will trigger the drums.
Is it possible to use NI Drummer series and create your own original drum patterns with a MIDI Keyboard on Pro Tools 12?
Sure. you don't have to use the included grooves. just pound out whatever you want on a MIDI track 👍
@@BenoniStudio That's great. Thanks for the fast reply! Shall get my hands on one of these soon.
Hi, I've gotten Abbey Road Modern Drummer(Latest version). But I have problems getting this instrument plugin to show up on PT12. Wondering if you are able to help me with this issue. Thanks
how can I use the single drum sounds in my DAW drum editor?
Use the pencil tool to draw in notes or play them in with a MIDI keyboard.
will it work with battery 4 ?
If you are referring to the MIDI you pull from the Drummer Series, then yes. Any MIDI will trigger Battery 4.
why do the drum fills sound harsh and dont match the tone of the grooves?
they're not 'played' by actual drummers...
i hate this drum kits so far..how di i sidechain the damn kick!! someone please explain
You unstuck me. Thanks. Now my session can continue.
How if at FL studio ? 😭😭
Do I want to spend 2 hours reading the manual when you gave me the solution in exactly 60 seconds?
Not really
Thanks you so much!
What was the point to upload it with high speed? Sounds a bit selfish . A good video though.😊
jesus christ native instruments.. fix that! talk about counter-intuitive. thanks for the video.
