Was super excited, then went flaccid like that arm.
Yeah, that arm sucks, both because the shoulder is weak and because the biceps swivel is too tight. I'll get mine soon and hope these are just anomalies. If anyone got theirs and it has no issues, I'd love to hear that too!
my left arm is loose as f too :-/ its unfortunate
It's fitting anyway, I think his ONLY G1 appearance was sitting on a table getting his joints worked on. Not exactly a must-have for team building.
@@youmongrel My Skids arrived today. The only issue I have with him is the unpegging of the upper arms when you rotate the biceps, but it's less than I saw in some of the reviews. My Skids also has an underwhelming face sculpt, but in hand this too looks less bad than in the reviews. Fortunately for me, results do vary!

The X-Transbots Masterpiece G1 Skids mold is spot-on G1 cartoon model-accurate and the official TakaraTomy Masterpiece MP-53 G1 Skids mold is G1 toy model-accurate, but has the G1 cartoon Skids paint scheme. The official TakaraTomy Masterpiece version of G1 Skids needs a G1 cartoon model-accurate version 2.0 mold. Version 1.0 ALMOST looks good.
Do you wear the skullface while doing reviews? Just curious because you seem very comfortable in it.
He conceived 8 of his 12 kids in that mask.... legend has it.

I don't care for Skids a whole lot. That said, I kind of like this one and may pick one up. Have a great time at TFCon. I wish I could be there. Would love the chance to meet the legendary Skullface.

Just wanted to say that I recently discovered your channel and you have actually helped me decide on my Third party that I'm buying... Wasn't shure about a lot of stuff like quality and materials... Thanks for these videos it is amazing info for people getting into collecting third party and masterpiece Transformers!
I love that people are assuming that the issues with this figure are "anomalies". It shows that Kieth's stuff is starting to live up to the sculpts that he has put out for many years now. However it was only 3 or 4 releases ago that the "anomaly" was wreck-gar, or cosmos. They got a reputation, and it's a hard one to shake. Are we being more lenient with this figure because we are all convinced no one else is going to take a stab at it? I can tell you that's why I'm buying it, not because I think it is a remarkable figure.

Finally got this guy opened up and was cautious of that arm. Good news is mine is nice and tight, so might be hit and miss for people.
Very cool, simple transformation and nice loyalty to the subject material. Definitely a great 3rd party piece.
Got the Crosscut repaint last week. absolutely phenomenal toy. mine has no looseness issues. great joints, fantastic paint, hard but fair transformation. its pretty much everything I wanted it to be.
Thanks for getting this review out before TFCon. I've wanted to see him reviewed. Skids was one of my favorite transformer toys as a kid, and I really enjoyed his story line in G1 comic. I have mine on the way. As you said, he certainly looks good enough to not need to be replaced in the future. I just hope those QC issues aren't too bad.

I seemed to have got lucky and all my tolerances are pretty good. Tight where they should be and looser where they should be. Thanks for the review, as always enjoyable. I agree with you about the face sculpt, and that windshield is a bit scary. Always loved this character as a kid, and was one of my favorite G1 toys.
great review got mine Saturday and the arms weren't as big a problem. i didn't have the paint issue you were saying but i don't have harsh lights either. The biggest issue for me was the muted face sculpt. That really takes a very good figure and knocks it down a peg. Again great review
Thanks for the review. How is the bicep swivel on the stronger arm and could the limp arm be a mileage may vary situation? Mine is sitting in a box waiting to be delivered so I look forward to getting it.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I've waited a long time for this guy. Hope you say he's good. I should have mine in a couple of days. From what I recall, we are now done season 2 with the exception of protectobots in the remaining aerialbots. Anyone else I'm forgetting?
Guess it's a individual results will vary because mine has no issues with his arm. My only complaint is the insanely tight windshield/hood connection.
That's the second example I've seen with the left shoulder being so loose. I hope they can fix it by the time they release Crosscut.

I waxed the paint on this rig. Nice and shiny now. Shiny skids stain is always welcome at the love house lol
Finally got mine from TF-source, great figure, but I will say his arms are a pain in the ass to transform, esp when you have to pull them up and swing out to free up the inside ball joint - it feels like they're gonna break. Otherwise the arms on mine are fairly stiff, not loose like the one in the video. My one beef was one of the doors that close up the gap in his leg was cracked in half - it was like that outta the box, kinda POed at that but you can't see the stress mark in the plastic, so you don't even know it was there. I just have to be careful not to break it all the way. I like his little scooter - that came with the original Diaclone figure, Hasbro dropped it for some reason. The scooter also comes with the real life car it's based on - the Honda City.
Odd that the left arm seems to be loose on a lot of this figure, as well as the shoulder tab popping out when rotating the bicep. Right arm and shoulder seem a lot tighter for some reason.
I'll have to superglue my steering wheel back on at some point, as well as the left wing mirror (which seemed to be held on by the panel before I moved it). QC issues again X-Tb...
Love your content. I have a video format suggestion. Sometimes I just want to fast forward to the final thoughts section because I may not have a deep interest in character you are reviewing. So I think it would be cool if you had like a 1.5 to 3 second buffer where are you display a special final thoughts title card that precedes the final thoughts segment. That way when a person scrubs through they can look for that title card and then go from there. Thanks for reading and considering.

That off center black part on the front bumper is killing me, and the red stripe would look better running the whole side. I have no idea if that's how he is supposed to be. I do like the lil phaser style gun. My only other nitpick would be the coloring. I like the metallic blue but not a fan how it looks with the pale blue plastic and almost pink looking reds.

For Skids, he looks great! I like the gimmick of the doors & the back hatch, which is a nice touch. They could've done better on the arms in bot mode, though, make 'em where they don't droop at least.
its a very good and decent pass for me.. don't need a skids on the shelf that bad... bae Bobby saved me $80 bucks.. we going sizzler!
Can't say this excites me even a little. just feels off putting the more i see it.
Tolerances on mine are much better, though I did file the windscreen tabs. Got some nasty paint chipping on the thighs though, my have to resort them.
The one shoulder piece that hooks over the tire came broken off on mine. Other than that I like this figure.
The light color of the arms don't seem to compliment the rest of the deco all that well, do they match his brief on-screen moment in the g1 spotlight. Also, really a shame about that dace sculpt, it looks exceptionally bad. That said, the chest paint looks awesome, and overall I think he looks pretty nice as well. He will definitely outclass his stand-in that have been holding down his square for so long: alternator Skids.
An actual Savant transformer for a savant about transformers, how ironic mack.....

I honestly don't know what it is that is really bothering me, but there is something I just can't get over with this. My first reaction when I saw it was hoping it would lead to someone else to announce their version of Skids which obviously hasn't happened. For now I'm going to have to do the same as I'm doing with Megatron which is wait and hope that someone else does one that I do like.
When you were describing how the paint in bot mode my thought was that they painted the car mode parts but did not paint the bot mode parts. Obviously parts that are in both modes show through the car mode paint, but anything bot exclusive is unpainted beyond a couple of accents. Would you consider that an accurate assessment?
Skids has more screentime in this review than the entirety of the g1 cartoon
The face looks generic like an Autobot Rebel. Pitty about the final product as the engineering looks alright.
Just like the G1 toy. Mission accomplished for XTB. They nailed it. Skids never was a "must have" but some do like him for some reason. :)
I doubt the MP-33 inferno face might be able to replace this.

To be honest, I'm surprised this came out before a IDW-Skids figure (most likely by MMC), because MTMTE is the only reason Skids has any real presence today. Honestly I was a bit taken back by this figure because I wasn't aware just how drastically different the IDW Skids design is.

Only talking 3P here, because a third party figure like this doesn't compare to a Hasbro deluxe, especially one with limited shoulder articulation and can't stand up very well

I love this figure despite giving 0 shits about the transformers lore or needing to have certain characters for reasons besides 'this toy looks/manipulates/transformes awesomely` I also thought the character bio of this guy is really cute in that its just straight up describing me :p
The tolerances on mine are as perfect as can be, better than many hasbro/takara stuff in my possesion. I do think its a bummer xtb removed the raised section on the hood that the testshots had:( Not only did it look better with it, now you see an unsightly empty space between the hood and nek where that raised section wouldve been. Must've been a very last minute change.
Oh and that mouth really sucks :( Ive been thinking about maybe tracing the lines of the mouth with a hobby knife to make em more pronounced but im worried about chipping the paint..
Unclipping that windshield from the hood is definitely also scary on mine btw. Anyone try to sand down those pegs yet? Im honestly a bit worried doing that would compromise the pegs strength.
I have to finally point something out, after watching many, many of these videos. Maybe it comes down to a personal choice on Bobby's part, but isn't the character's name "TigerTRACK" not "Tiger TRACKS?"

I just got mine and the same panel is off color. Other than that the bot is great!
the bottom portion of the legs are "dinobot" large. Looks good on the dinobots but not on Skids.

This looks like it's referencing the anime "You're Under Arrest" with the vehicle looking like it was modeled after a Honda Today and it even has that Moto-compo
Nosrep Suomynona The original Skids toy from G1 was a Honda City Turbo, which of course had the little motorcycle/scooter thing. Wasn't a reference, that came with the IRL car and was awesome.

I wonder if you strip the paint off the face if the details are sharper. The paint could just be too thick.

This guy fills a gap, but man he's underwhelming.
A lot of X-Transbots stuff has a sort of lifeless quality to it...

seems like typical xtb. bad tolerances. weird color choices. tiny plastic parts for no reason. bad face sculpt. no chrome. minimal paint on robot parts. will wait for clearance or for something better.

a good figure for a mediocre character
Complete trashy product, Garbage not worth the time or money . Shotty engineering and 1000% will break in time for something that is basic like the sketchy windshield. One of things I noticed while in china and dealing with factories "engineers" is just a word use 99% of them dont have a degree to support the BS they try and sell you and tell you. Engineered means 15 -20 years of life labor experience not education... mindless and makeshift "I will pass and do for now after they bitch and complain then we will correct it Chinese mentality" Fact... dont buy this trash... bots may vary.
