OMG I prefer the Takara version of a figure. That hasnt happened since Sunstreaker. It's about time Takara. A good figure and a more tolerable price.

Really like the Takara one myself. Seems like a return to old school MP to me. The shoulders on the XTB always annoyed me too, but it’s still a good figure. I really enjoy handling the Takara as well as transforming it. That said I love owning both and it’s awesome having options.
This is almost exactly my feelings as well, down to the old school MP nature and the shoulders on XTB being a dealbreaker - if I can't move an arm or leg without holding something down, it's not much of a figure to me. And yeah, the Takara is light, but it feels sturdy, like I'm not afraid of my cat knocking it over at all. I skipped the XTB for the shoulders, and glad I did, since I got Takara for $74 shipped from Amazon JP.

I think I prefer the MP version. Great comparison as usual, you do amazingly detailed comparison so it gives the viewer a really good idea of what he'd prefer. Awesome stuff Deluxe!

Thanks for the comparison! After your review, I was worried I made the wrong choice with MP, but after seeing the comparison I feel better about picking it over XTB overall, even if it's not perfect.

Overall, I really feel the Hasbro MP Skids just looks so much more dynamic! Just a lot of good design going there. Is he mostly painted clear plastic?

X-transbots all the way he is very toon inspired.. I had him on pre-order and never regret my purchase. Mines is tight shoulders, legs ,arms everything snap together very well

I had the G1 toys, so that is the look I want to replicate. It looks like the Takara version has more accurate shoulders and the colour is closer to the original. It is irritating that the scooter is not included, but I think I might buy the masterpiece.

Dang I like Savant’s cartoon accuracy better but passed on him before. I have the takara on preorder and don’t want to pay $20 more for Savant, oh well.

I'm still torn about which one I want in the main display. I guess I can move the XTB one to the toy accurate shelf. I'm getting the official Crosscut, so I'll wait until he gets here.

I'm keeping my Savant as I'm not a fan of the character but I'm probably going to get the red redeco of the MP Skids mold.
Anyone have suggestions on how to straighten the mirrors on Savant? Mine droop to one side. That's my main gripe with that figure. They should have been made with a harder plastic or been detachable.

The XTB has better materials.
They both have problems with joints being loose or tight.
For looks I think it just matters which is better for each person's individual collection.
For articulation XTB is slightly better but not by much.
I'm sticking with my XTB.

The Autobot logo on the MP-53 version looks a little cartoony instead of toy-accurate.

@@DeluxeBaldwin In my honest opinion, TakaraTomy rushed the Masterpiece G1 Skids/Masterpiece Diaclone Reboost/Masterpiece Autobot Crosscut mold. Come on, TakaraTomy! You can do better than that!
Savant's head is a bit to big, while Skids' head is a bit to small.

I am lucky, both of my shoulders are pretty tight on my Savant. I think both are good, I think I prefer Savant a bit in bot mode. I definitely like where Savant's head is located when looking from the side. The official looks a bit to far back, especially with it being smaller. Saying that, I do wish Savant's arms were painted. I am still getting the official, but I am a sucker. I am getting the Skids and Reboost for official, I have Savant and have the police repaint on the way. I plan to keep Savant and Reboost in bot mode, the police repaint and the official Skids in alt mode. Thanks for the comparison. I am looking forward to getting it in hand.

I like the mp car better but xtb bot better. The shoulders of the xtb are cartoon accurate, not so with the mp.
