Hasbro refuses to do a lot of things *cough cough fix the yellow plastic issue* but at least they make nice toys. I think they do do some stuff in cheaper classes for the sake of just being able to get it like the warrior class stuff but it's really only for TV shows, wish we got some for g1, the movies, comics, etc.
According to tfwiki with the yellowing issue : "Hasbro has attributed this issue to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic making it difficult for them to send dedicated quality control agents to their factories in Vietnam."
This is the only transformers figure that survived my childhood, the joints are super loose now, but to this day the thing is still in pretty reasonable condition for the time
With the way the classes have been shrinking in size over the years, all you have to do is wait a little longer for "leader" class to be the same height as what we used to call "deluxe" class 10 years ago.
Hasbro had to make the toys a good size for houses. If you have The Whole first movie autobot collection that’s probably taking 1 foot of space but back than it was bad and un affordable
4:13 ruby barking at something (probably nothing) is something I can relate. My dog does the same exact thing constantly. At one point she saw a bag caught on a tree branch right outside the window and just wouldn't stop growling at it lol. Love the video
The thing is in lines like earthspark, the rotb mainline or cyberverse they do have deluxe versions of the main characters. It’s really just a mainline thing
I have the AOE silver version of this mold and I really hope to track this one down sometime, something that doesn't smudge and get covered in fingerprints.
If you want to get this mold, They resell this specific mold at universal Hollywood so if you go on holiday and go to universal you can get this guy for around $30
I kind of fell in love with the effective simplicityof Deluxe DOTM Optimus when i got that overly chrome one in a two pack with FOC Grimlock from AOE (So many wild repaints and repacks then werent there?) Movie Optimus can be so complex sometimes... so its a nice desk toy to transform back and forth!
I used to have that figure, but as time passed, I lost both the figure and the trailer (lost the trailer years after I lost the figure itself). If I bought this figure, I'd throw away the figure in a storage cabinet somewhere and use the trailer for the Volvo Optimus Prime.
I'm not a huge scale nut. I just like my toys to scale with how I prefer them to. I don't care if Waspinator is supposed to be bigger, I like how small his Kingdom toy is. I would honestly love characters in different size classes in the same lines again. I really hope the upcoming Legacy Animated Optimus is a small voyager, and that they make a Leader Animated Megatron in the future that dwarfs him, since I've always loved the size difference between the two in that show.
Animated will be interesting to see because if they keep the scale the same, Prowl should go up to the beginning of his Autobot logo on his left shoulder. So I will be curious to see if they keep the scale like that and if they keep the Decepticons like say Starscream way taller than the Autobots.
The Deluxe mold of Animated Optimus from the "The Battle Begins" 2-pack and Leader Megatron scale so well and accurate! That's the main reason why I prefer that Deluxe Optimus over the Voyager mold, it scales nicely with most of the entire Animated line!
@@thomasjohnson1885 I liked that Optimus, too, but didn’t he have “battle damage”? It’s kind of a pet peeve of mine, if the only figure has “damage” you can’t hide or remove. Especially since that Optimus had a cool vehicle mode. 👍
Besides the Minicons being the main reason I got so many legends/legion/deluxe/cyberverse, and now Core. Lass, the fact they were easier to get when I was younger made it fun because I was able to get so many!.❤
I can relate - 84/85 G1 small robots started out at a few bucks. So, I bought them in 3s. So much fun… I like Target doing $7.50 Core, but it’s not all of them…
Got the silver knight repaint of this figure on ebay for £5. I absolutely agree they need more primes at this scale, honestly never seen any of your videos before but this video has made me want more. So I'll be sure to watch now. Editing is brilliant, and you are actually funny
I’m 18 now and I remember having this Optimus and another with like a clear orange battle axe that turned into a gun too (fire burst Optimus prime) Good times😭
I feel like loose joints are just a problem with this figure for everyone lol. I owned both they original and the chrome AOE version of this guy, and they both had horribly loose joints even after I tightened them
i feel the cyberverse deluxes were a good step in the right direction, with earthspark and rise of the beasts both getting their respective deluxe lines
I got one of these in Tenerife years ago for pretty cheap and I was so happy to finally have a trailer! Sadly the trailer only works with him, and I THINK mine is a KO? The plastic feels…weird, and I worry it’s fragile, but I also got Titans Return Blurr and Sentinel Prime (which were new at the time from the same shop) and they felt fine, the box and everything seemed fine, it’s always been so weird to me. Also I think mine opens like a traditional trailer with 2 doors which makes it EVEN WEIRDER! It was sealed in a authentic looking box, it’s an enigma to me
I lowkey love this figure. I had the Walmart exclusive version of Prime cause I couldn't afford the Voyager or Leader one and later the Movie Trilogy one with the trailer. I'd say he still holds up today as a great figure. Figure has six ports so you can load him with some firepower if you wanted to and the transformation is REALLY simple and best part is he looks good in both robot and vehicle. (yes the front of the truck becomes a backpack in robot but it doesn't bother me plus it's lightweight so it won't affect posing). I actually had mine use the Arms Micron Prime toys as his weapons (they were a small version of TFP Optimus that transformed into a gun)
This optimus prime is one of the reasons why I didn't get the SS optimus, back when I hated faux parts, now I'm just tired arguing about it. This figure uses actual truck windows and it's much simpler to transform, even the truck mode is clean.
I've seen reviews on how SS44 is fiddly to transform. And the trailer on that figure was disappointing because it wasn’t able to deluxe figures in them. Since I already have mainline DOTM Optimus, I've been thinking about seeing if I can get this trailer separately, and get the jet pack upgrade kit as well. That way I don’t spend too much money.
The reaspn i think prime and megs are in voyager is scale. because theyre not as short as characters like wheeljack neither are they as tall as characters like ultra magnus. So theyre put in voyager
i would like if the whole line was scale down, like we move deluxe characters to legends/core class and go on up and repeat with Leaders as voyagers and so on
Great video! I think my nephew has him. Great toy! So, G1 Bumblebee/Cliffjumper had terrible heels, and fell over all the time. I used to slip a standard paper clip under their heels - yeah, they lean forward a little, but then stand OK.
I remember when it was hard to get characters in size-classes *other* than Deluxe. We had likes like the War for Cybertron videogame toys where everyone was a Deluxe regardless of what size they really should be, including important characters like Optimus, Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave and Shockwave (although Soundwave got an upscaled toy later in the Fall of Cybertron line.) I wouldn't have minded so much if Hasbro wasn't also so dead-set against providing smaller characters like Prowl and Wheeljack in sub-deluxe sizes. The Deluxe versions of major characters were often pretty good toys in their own right (the FoC Shockwave is still my favourite version of the character) and Hasbro showed in the RotF line that it was perfectly possible to make great toys in Scout size, but Hasbro refused to allow people to have small but scale-accurate collections for ages.
i wish for the studio series had used the basic engineering of this prime's legs and obliviously tweaked it a little to help clean up the rear end in truck mode.
The Lunar Fire repaint of this is one of my childhood favorite figures. The Mechtech canon I gave to the Studio Series 15th anniversary Prime for my current display.
Bruh i miss this figure so much especially when i was a huge fan of optimus and dotm when i was 3 to 5 and i hated myself for so many years because of dumb child me losing its limbs and trailer and now its just a torso with one leg
I actually own the Universal Studios exclusive version of this figure, and i just broke off the truck front off his back. Now he can stand no problem And this doesnt hinder the transformation, yes it does give you partsforming, but if you're someone who doesnt mind partsforming, like me, then i recommend doing this
"Make the most important toys the expensive ones" omg that really was the transformers experience for ages especially during the Unicron Trilogy. No way my parents going to get me a $50 Optimus or Megatron thats a foot tall and chock full of lights, sounds and other gimmicks.
Dude, I know how you feel, I used to have that Prime when I was in my teens back then, it was good, but realized that it suffered from mold degradation a few years later, it might have worked better if the plastic used for the legs didn't self destruct at the thighs after a few years, this is why the original mold had been used so much, I think Hasbro has mostly learned make their figures better, and in some cases, it's not always true due to the QC issues plaguing a lot of their toys, believe me, I've suffered from this problem a lot from the figures I owned and lost over the years. At least Hasbro is starting to understand what's going on, we know about the QC issues, or not, depending on how you look at it.
I owned the Lunarfire variant which was a Walmart exclusive and came with a recolor of Voyager DOTM Primes’ blaster so much better. Now I know the best release of this is in between the Movie Trilogy and the Chronicles version. This was a good deluxe prime for its time alongside Generations Pax and the WFC video game primes. We don’t talk about the other classics Prime XD

I honestly have no idea when DOTM released this one. Only remember seeing the solar paneled voyager, and the one with the enormous transformable trailer. Robot mode here isn't exactly great, but truck mode/trailer fares a lot better than any of the studio series voyagers with the exception of the Bumblebee one. Interesting too that this is a deluxe when it sizes about the same as most of the Studio series voyagers as the trailer looks about right for earthrise. Also deluxes here in Canada are about $35 already so outside of Core not all that affordable opposed to the $15 they were about 10+ years ago.
