That's crazy, I went to the ADTR show in Toronto on Tuesday and during the changeover after The Story So Far, the drum tech did very similar checking to what I've seen in your videos and thought to myself "hmmm why does this dude look like Matt Horn".... Go figure lmao
I’m OAF, a little old school metal head, pantera, Black Sabbath, so on and on but watching Matt has introduced me to newer bands, Falling in reverse and a day to remember, thanks for the videos and keep em coming
IF the Abbott brothers were still around they would really have to up their stage money these days..... looking back at old Pantera days to the New modern times.. (Lights, Pyro, throwing shit at the crowd instead of them throwing bottles at you)
Man, the venue clean up crew earns their pay on this show. I worked at a venue back in the 80s that hosted a college basketball team. During basketball season, we would often have to do the load out, then wait for them to clean the floor, then put the basketball court back down on the floor so the team had the court in the morning. That made for a very long fucking day if you stayed and picked up the extra pay to drop the court after a show. Humping those 4 x 8 sections of court which weighed several hundred pounds each and then beating them tight and pinning them together. If you had a good crew it took a couple hours to do correctly. It payed a flat rate, so we usually humped it to get home. You could pick up $150 bucks for two hours on a good night.
lmao, as the video started I was wondering if we would get a new one. I have seen a couple other guys do it during check, but wasn't sure if it was really a standard thing or not.
Dude......I admit that (shamefully) after being a drummer for 44 years that I had NEVER heard of Snare Weight until I started following your channel. I ordered a couple of each size and LOVE them! Thanks for that.
watching these drum tech video's made me realize the perfections we worry about as little guys are nothing at the big time because you can't even hear them since it's so f**king loud!!!
Still don’t know what a snare weight is , unless it’s a heavy bag sitting on the stand to keep it from walking away, anxiously awaiting the next episode
Snareweight ought to just endorse you at this point. You've made true believers out of your artists and subscribers both. I bought a few M80s myself, and judging from the comments, apparently I'm not the only one who's come to love them.
Paul seems like a really cool dude to work with. My advice for those tension rods is buy a tap and die for the thread pitch of the tension rods. Dip the tension rods in oil and then run the die on them. Test the fit, if that doesn't do it, dip the tap in oil and VERY CAREFULLY run the tap into the lugs. 1 full rotation clockwise to cut, then 1 half rotation counterclockwise to break the string of material the tap is cutting. After 4 or 5 full rotations, back the tap all the way out of the hole and blow the hole out with a can of air duster or an air wand on an air compressor fed line. I would check the fit here as well because you might not need to run the tap all the way to the bottom of the hole if the threads aren't already too damaged. The most common thread pitch for tension rods is a #12-24tpi. S2F crew dawg 😂😂😂
STF guy here. Another band, another gig, another excellent behind the scenes video, Matt! Rock On! (devil horns, banging head, and.... can't think of any additional heavy rock tropes at the moment) 🥁
Yeh, JK hooves on the drum mat! It’s a small Dutch company. Being Dutch, this makes me a little bit proud. 😊 I use their drumplates with the hooves. Great system.
@@nielsdebeijer4236I bought the whole system from René Collum, the drummer from Doe Maar. As Henny Vrienten passed away, he didn’t need the system anymore…😢
Sorry if this is a dumb question, I dont work in the industry, so I dont know how these things work. But what happened with Falling in Reverse? Do you still work with them, or did you decide to leave to work for a different band? Or do you work for multiple bands? I love watching your videos, but I'm clueless on how these things operate lol
Will you go back to helping Luke when they go back on the road of if they have a few shows? Also, who you work for? Like when you were with FIR, did you work for FIR, for Luke or for a company that provides tech for that band?
S2F. Matt, we’ve missed you. Perhaps more importantly, you seem to have lost the lazy Susan and the Walmart shower curtain. What in the exact hell is going on with this gig?? ♥️
Question: When you work with a new drummer that you just started working for, do you and the drummer discuss what drums he’s using, what drumheads that needs changing depending how many times per show, tuning preference and how often to clean cymbals? Btw, been watching your videos since the first POV drum tech video.
Are you on for the whole tour? If so, I'm curios to know if you'll be filming all the shows. Of course there's a snowball's chance in hell this comment getting responded to but much appreciated. Great content btw
So you made us fans of Falling in Reverse and now we're big fans of A Day to Remember...Feeling kinda sheltered up here in Canada...Great stuff Matt!!! btw...maybe do a secret number or word at the end of the video so you can see how many of us go right to the end. Cheers dude!!
So Matt, after a whole tour where you worked on the same drums, isn't it a little stressful to do the first gig on new equipment for a drummer with different expectations? Great job man ! :)
Quick question: Do you get a sheet made by the drummer of the band telling the right turns for each drum so it's tuned right or is it like an estimate for each drum of what it should sound like?
@matthorndrums who is the manufacturer of the plastic guide where the kit stands fit into? Like you set the kick drum into at 9:08 in this vid? Are those an accessory to the rug your using??
50:36 "And we have confetti cannons" ADTR loves their confetti. You can see the beginning of show confetti at 45:00 as well. ADTR has always valued production and always have a fun live show with tons of bells and whistles. Especially headline tours with venues that allow and can accommodate all of the production they want. I appreciate the production and even the little things like them tossing out TP or T shirts, or how Jeremy used to go out and crowd surf in the human hamster ball. Haha
Start to finish again! Nice to see other kit and zildjian! Good to hear your feelings about different stuff! Thanks for this evasion hour and cheers from Belgium !🎉
Man I miss helping with these types of gigs. I didn't have to play an instrument to feed off the crowd's energy. Instead of hiring security guards, we'd go ask our local kingsmen club. They'd do security detail for free beer.
