That's crazy, I went to the ADTR show in Toronto on Tuesday and during the changeover after The Story So Far, the drum tech did very similar checking to what I've seen in your videos and thought to myself "hmmm why does this dude look like Matt Horn".... Go figure lmao
lmao, as the video started I was wondering if we would get a new one. I have seen a couple other guys do it during check, but wasn't sure if it was really a standard thing or not.
Dude......I admit that (shamefully) after being a drummer for 44 years that I had NEVER heard of Snare Weight until I started following your channel. I ordered a couple of each size and LOVE them! Thanks for that.
watching these drum tech video's made me realize the perfections we worry about as little guys are nothing at the big time because you can't even hear them since it's so f**king loud!!!
Still don’t know what a snare weight is , unless it’s a heavy bag sitting on the stand to keep it from walking away, anxiously awaiting the next episode
Snareweight ought to just endorse you at this point. You've made true believers out of your artists and subscribers both. I bought a few M80s myself, and judging from the comments, apparently I'm not the only one who's come to love them.
Paul seems like a really cool dude to work with. My advice for those tension rods is buy a tap and die for the thread pitch of the tension rods. Dip the tension rods in oil and then run the die on them. Test the fit, if that doesn't do it, dip the tap in oil and VERY CAREFULLY run the tap into the lugs. 1 full rotation clockwise to cut, then 1 half rotation counterclockwise to break the string of material the tap is cutting. After 4 or 5 full rotations, back the tap all the way out of the hole and blow the hole out with a can of air duster or an air wand on an air compressor fed line. I would check the fit here as well because you might not need to run the tap all the way to the bottom of the hole if the threads aren't already too damaged. The most common thread pitch for tension rods is a #12-24tpi. S2F crew dawg 😂😂😂
STF guy here. Another band, another gig, another excellent behind the scenes video, Matt! Rock On! (devil horns, banging head, and.... can't think of any additional heavy rock tropes at the moment) 🥁
Start to finish again! Nice to see other kit and zildjian! Good to hear your feelings about different stuff! Thanks for this evasion hour and cheers from Belgium !🎉
50:36 "And we have confetti cannons" ADTR loves their confetti. You can see the beginning of show confetti at 45:00 as well. ADTR has always valued production and always have a fun live show with tons of bells and whistles. Especially headline tours with venues that allow and can accommodate all of the production they want. I appreciate the production and even the little things like them tossing out TP or T shirts, or how Jeremy used to go out and crowd surf in the human hamster ball. Haha
It's awesome to see this fresh series, ADTR is a beast of a band, so glad we can have this perspective from you into this! Wishing you good luck and waiting for more videos!!
I’m OAF, a little old school metal head, pantera, Black Sabbath, so on and on but watching Matt has introduced me to newer bands, Falling in reverse and a day to remember, thanks for the videos and keep em coming
IF the Abbott brothers were still around they would really have to up their stage money these days..... looking back at old Pantera days to the New modern times.. (Lights, Pyro, throwing shit at the crowd instead of them throwing bottles at you)
I'm 66 now. Been a drummer since I was 8. I never went pro. But I have to give coodoes to you and all these people doing all this work. Not only the setup, but the take down. Crazy
I'm a 66 year old drummer myself!! I did a bunch of paying and non-paying gigs(Open Mic Nite's) at area bars and clubs over the last 13 years. Covid slowed down the shows and my health stopped me from doing music. I miss it terribly. Thank you to the creator of this vid!!! Would have loved to have been a "Tech" in my 20s and 30s!!
Yeh, JK hooves on the drum mat! It’s a small Dutch company. Being Dutch, this makes me a little bit proud. 😊 I use their drumplates with the hooves. Great system.
@@nielsdebeijer4236I bought the whole system from René Collum, the drummer from Doe Maar. As Henny Vrienten passed away, he didn’t need the system anymore…😢
I own a small/medium sized audio and lighting production company, so yeah, I'm a start to finish guy. Unload, setup, most times mix audio, occasionally run lights, strike and reload a 26' box truck every show! Cool videos. Always love seeing what others are doing in the production world. Discovering new ideas and ways of doing things. Thanks for sharing Matt!!
I enjoy the level of professionalism each persons has no matter what their function is… as an avid concert attendee these vlogs give a nice secondary element to the concert experience. Rock on!
Fun seeing you working with another band. Great video. It's amazing that this amphitheater and Desert Sky in Phoenix have so little space back behind them.
Matt, you might try to grab a M8x1.25 tapered plug tap and run it down the threads to clean them out on the shell side. You should be able to look at the screw threads to make sure they’re not funky looking.
Great stuff!! Thanks for sharing Matt. I enjoy your videos. My good friend of mine used to be the drum tech for Ray Luzier when he was with David Lee Roth. Great stories from when they were on the road together. Good luck on this new tour.
Disappointed we didn't get a 1 2 3 on a cowbell during line check. ;) Beautiful sounding kit! Hope the rest of the tour is smoother than this day was. Congrats on the new gig and safe travels!
S2F crew from North Carolina! Great video, as always, Matt! Looked like a killer show, tons of fun. Sucks that you had such a problem getting set up, but you handled it great. Thanks for bringing us the new content and hope you have a great tour!
Another great video Matt, these are addictive to watch great content!! I also got hooked on Mav, Stevodrums32 and Kurt Caz and you so you are a legend on YT man!!
Hello Matt, just found your videos and enjoy them. I’m a drummer also and a part time drum tech for a local Cover Band in MN so since I have a day job and work with the band on weekends it’s interesting to see how the pros work. Keep up the good work, I’ll be watching 🥁
So you made us fans of Falling in Reverse and now we're big fans of A Day to Remember...Feeling kinda sheltered up here in Canada...Great stuff Matt!!! btw...maybe do a secret number or word at the end of the video so you can see how many of us go right to the end. Cheers dude!!
Matt just ran across your channel and have to say this is some really interesting stuff. never learned how to play kit, tried a few different times, much more of a marching percussionist and give me Timpani all day long in the concert setting. watching you work and totally enjoying every minute of it.
Well..... It would seem i am part of the 'start to finish crew', I cannot remember the last time I sat through over 50 mins of content on YT! Enjoyed this so much chap, Great easy watching (of course, it's drumming!) & interesting content. I'm in! 👏👍👌🤘✌🖖🤙🍻

Congrats on the new gig Matt.
While it's a shame we don't have the Relic and Cowbell anymore, we now have the Chicken and The Little Guy.
He’s just a little guy
Shout out to the lil guy for being a hero and sounding great regardless of his shortcomings

The snare needing yet another dampener DURING the show is just too classic. That head is cursed!😂
