I love it!, the military/submarine claustrophobic feel is really something and with all those turrets and the heavy torp payload it is like the space B17 flying fortress... I hope it will get a gold pass soon!
I own a Tally and love it but my big complaint is how unwieldy it is in flight. For a ship so aerodynamic with a huge amount of control surfaces you'd think it would handle better. This isn't the only ship CIG has done this to. The Corsair is the same way. Lots of control surfaces but handles worse than a Connie's that has NO control surfaces. I think you have to have the power on for the rest of the ship's interior lights to come on. Since you didn't get into the pilot's seat until later that might have been why it is so dark. The Connies are the same way. I actually like the tight submarine feel of the ship. It is also my hope that when the other modules come in for the ship they allow for the ability to have a pilot-controlled gun mounted.
I may have missed it but it is also important to notice that the Retaliator is the ship with the highest amount of HP! No other ship offers so much HP... This is a beast! Anyway nice presentation of the most dangerous ship in the entire verse
i think this ship resembles a submarine the most hence the cramped sleeping cabins and corridors. i have an eclipse and love it to bits and wanted to add a retaliator to my fleet. amazing video! could you make a video about your fleet? reasons for purchases and future add ons and gameplay loops you want to cover in the future
I bought this for the 6 torpedo's. I love the way it looks, more than I thought, and its fun to look at while on those boring jumps. It also has a top Quantum Drive out of the box, just upgrade the rest. The inside is bigger than it feels, and I like the ship more than I thought I would. However, it drives like drunk duck, and feel like the Caterpillar should with a ton of time to change directions. This thing needs the handling improvement patch, if you overshoot the hanger it is a bugger getting it back around to park. I think my C2 flies 3x better than this, but it does work and looks great. Also if doing solo, you can buff the shields up and I have never taken a scratch, it is a beast. I hate that it has no pilot controlled guns though in solo with all that firepower wasted.
This is my favorite design out of everything in this game. This is the quintessential "hero" ship shape. Like for example the Outlaw Star and the Valkyrie from Titan A.E. have a very similar profile to the Tali.
One of the ships that desperately needs more love from the developers hasn't been touched since hanger days and was my first ever ship. its meant to have 8 size 9 torps 2 in the back 6 in the front. a lot of ships need this pass though, the prowler needs this too as its completely broken
perfect ship dont touch anything inside !!!!! Just make it more flyable. Dont change the lighting !!!!! This ship is perfectly made i absolutly love the (not dark at all) optimal lighting inside and the perfect interior. Whoever made this ship is genius
The dark interior of the Tali *IS* actually intentional. There's been a dev on record saying it was designed to resemble the interior of a real-life submarine. Dark, cramped, and utilitarian.
Biggest problem I have is less about the ship and more about the current turret mechanics. They are intended to be used in an anti fighter role, but light fighters laugh at any turret trying to hit them thanks to the forced auto aim.
you can turn off gimbled mode in any turret that is manned and not remote .. i do it all the time when im in my mates Hurricane ... hit G or manually toggle gimble mode in the screens of the manned turret
@@AussieTGirl toggling gimbal in a manned turret doesn't do anything. They have the fixed weapon aim assist greatly increased and you can't turn it off
I think missiles definitely need a rework. Even size 1 are extremity easy to dodge without using countermeasures. Hell, they can even miss a target holding still. Torpedoes, on the other hand, I feel are in a pretty good place. If you take the risk of getting as close to minimum on an intended target (large ships) they are extremely accurate even if the target tries to decoy them.
The Retaliator is like a Submarine, so I expect it to be cramped but as we cant move as in real world, its to narrow. Yes, they have talked about getting this to Gold Standard, and since its in SQ42 Im sure its not far of ;) A meter should be sufficient.
I think the narrow passageways is purposeful and should stay that way. It definitely needs to get brighter- but it feels just like its role. It's a stealth submarine. I think it's perfect in that regard.
I am really interested in this ship and the more I watch videos on it and research the more I think it will fit my needs in the verse! Thanks for the good video o7
Agree a good-looking ship. The darkness and the claustrophobic hallways is spot on. I would also add that the handling can be improved as it can be bouncy at times.

Its current version dilutes this ship's legacy. This ship and its history deserve better and we should demand better. I'm all for a revision at some point.
Maybe it's my experience playing Elite Dangerous talking, but I still wish the Retaliator had pilot-controlled energy or projectile weapons in case it still needed to fight after exhausting its compliment of torpedoes, instead of just relying on the turrets
No because that’s the point. It’s a boomer, and a large one at that. If you want what you’re asking for then it makes sense to be required to fly a single seat bomber such as the eclipse
i would like to see actual customization options in game for this ship. my goto is still the eclipse simply because it can get in close enough to fire a torp and hit a target. a retali is seen to far out and ships fire counter measures to soon and missiles will always miss
I have both and am at the point where I’m going to melt one. I think I’m going to melt the Eclipse. You can still easily solo play the one shot VHRTs game in the Tali with same hit rate as the Eclipse (in my experience) It’s boost can still get it away from the Bounty target’s ‘friends’. i would change the amount of turrets to less ones and and bigger ones. 2 top and 1 bot. size 4 or 5 weapons on top and the single defensive bot turret size 3. to get 5 turret gunners and a pilot is way to much of a undertaking. make it a good 4 man crew ship. i like to be in a turret but at minimum size 3 guns. size 4 or 5 makes it a lot more fun to turret gun in like you are doing a mining full difference.
I solo tally for ERT bounties, Arlington Idris and high threat beacon, and just did a critical beacon with two tallys, an eclipse and a fully manned Hammerhead. Reckon the design is quite dated, no sane aircraft designer mounts engines at the very front of a combat bomber, and the rotating VTOL engines are a 1960 design. The ship design has already had a rework, but it’s in SQ42 priority. To me, get rid of the manned turrets for remote turrets, and you free up a ton of ‘corridor’ space for component rework, and the crew should all be placed in a central cockpit area, not down a stupid corridor for an s2 turret, where they have to run back the length of the ship, then up a ladder to get to the beds/escape pods. Tally’s are tough, but lose a front whisker and it flies all over the place, yet I’ve lost a wing with zero handling issues. I run full mil A spec with Seeker IX torps as I bounty hunt, and there’s plenty of QT fuel to jump from Crusader to Hurston with TK-01 in under three minutes. You also said the Vanguard remind you of an old school Cadillac.
i found the first modules expensive. Its just module not a ship. Anyway ship interior etc is perfect dont touch it !! Do NOT resize it its perfect now !
why is it called a bomber, when it has no bombs. also, why do people call space missiles torpedoes, when the definition of a torpedo is a MISSILE that travels UNDERWATER ffs, might as well call the retaliator a submarine while were at it.

I honestly love the cramped, narrow feel to the ship. Id hate to lose that, it feels more real somehow

I would imagine the Gold pass is coming soonish*. It is going to be in Squadron and those seem to be the ships they focus on doing the pass on.

As a side note, you CANNOT currently customize the retaliator in game. It is strictly a torpedo boat.
Get rid of those crappy size 2's and give it all S3's. Its too big/high value to have tiny whimpy turrets

That's a good shout, I do feel that a ships countermeasures should be reduced, they should be used tactically and not just spammed.

Called torpedoes because they don’t maneuver very well at all plus of the specialized role of destroying large to capital sized ships.
