    My reviews are of the ship STOCK, when you purchase the ship on the store or in game. This means no upgrades were applied, nor do I typically discuss upgrades.
    This video showcases the AEGIS HAMMERHEAD, a sub-capital ship with tons of firepower for escorting and locking down areas.
    Let me know what you think in the comments below!
    Thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed!

    Idea for a future video: a walk-through list of all the improvements needed for a gold pass of each ship. What you would like to see, from ideas for variants to critiques of proposed ships. Just an idea🤷‍♂️

      I love this idea. Each ship needs its own work and love.

    The Hammerhead desperately needs a re-concept. Star Citizen has a serious issue of providing awful turret angles for their ships, and that holds true for the Hammerhead. Not a single turret holds an arc coverage greater than 185 degrees. Instead of actually designing more crossover between the turrets, CIG opted to throw more turrets on it, further bloating it by refusing to use remote turrets instead of manned.
    Not only that, but the interior is nothing but wasted space and caused an insane amount of bloat in size. This ship could have easily been half to a third of its size, and reduced the manpower by 2 had they just focused on internal space rather than an external shape first, and used remote turrets with elevated positions to have larger arc coverage.
    For how much CIG wants to charge for this ship, it's outright the worst ship in capabilities, manpower constraints, and design for the money. It requires a crew only marginally smaller than a Polaris, and yet has no medical room, no hangar, a tiny cargo bay, no armory, and a weapon set exclusively designed for fighters. Compare that to the Perseus, a ship that is similarly hyperfocused on 1 role, it only requires a maximum of 6 people, so 2/3 of the crew, is smaller, and at least has usable design constraints with only a single turret with bad coverage to help balance it as being weak to fighters.
    That said, I absolutely love the Hammerhead and would love to seriously want to keep one, but my god it's a perfect example of CIG designing a ship for looks before gameplay, capability, and player constraints.

      I hope it will eventually shine in the anti-fighter role sufficiently to demand a counter for it.

    I like the center cut out section on the Hammerhead, but I honestly would LOVE a variant that has a center section for like more cargo or something, and make that variant like a heavily armed cargo ship for like 8 people. Or maybe classify it as a heavily armed hauler, and have it carry like 2 Tonks or something in the center and rear sections (one each.)

    I hope the HH gets a buff in the future. As is, a fully crewed A2 has higher dps, 5x more cargo, vehicle room, and costs less than half the auec. I think the HH is a lot cooler looking though and the military style looks great.

    • @EvenLease44
      @EvenLease44  7 месяцев назад +3

      If we are talking upgrades and manned turrets only, A fully equipped hammerhead with ballistics does 33,000 dps with almost triple the health pool.
      The A2 only performs better with cargo and space for vehicles. Oh and it has bombs.

    • @MysteicVoltronus
      @MysteicVoltronus 7 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, but they have drastically different roles. The A2 is for going into a ground assault area and ended a battle. Drop bomb(s), drop off a tank and/or several ground vehicles/troops, then hang around providing air support fire.
      The HH is a support ship designed to keep medium and light aircraft away from something else. Its basically a flying AA battery that will chase you if necessary. If we had large scale ground fights, they would complement each other beautifully.

    • @TrustSpiders
      @TrustSpiders 7 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah on paper you basically have 22.5k dps and 81k hull vs, 33k dps and nearly 300k hull when using ballistics. I feel like the HH would still underperform though since it has awful maneuverability and its turrets are extremely easy to disable due to how they stick out so far. Because of the maneuverability and vulnerable turrets it would be a toss up in pvp for which ship would come out on top, when a dedicated military corvette should have an advantage over a repurposed cargo/transportation ship.
      Hopefully this changes with the armor and weapons rework but since the HH only has s4 weapons, it will have a harder time punching though armour then the A2 with its 8 s5 weapons.
      Perhaps the turret coverage would make the HH better at anti fighter cover if its turret hp was improved, but I still feel it could use a buff when it gets its gold standard. Also bombs, yeah.
      I'm looking forward to you doing a 10 minute review of the A2 if you decide to at some point though. I'm sure there's a lot more going on that could be looked at.

      A2 is a military transport, Hammerhead is an anti-fighter gunship. It performs very well for its role. People just pick a favorite ship and demand it to do everything other ships do but better. Hilarious really

    I never really liked the HH unitl now. I recently decided to rent it at Invictus and have fallen in love. It has so much character. Unfortunately, I mostly play solo so it's not a feasible choice (especially at 725 USD which in Canadian is approx $1000). That said, it will be amazing when NPC crew members will be introduced.
    For an org, this ship would be an awesome area denial ship, even landed. Drop a fully crewed HH in an area you want to control and take fire away.

    A 10?? I love you mate, but with how easy it is to disable its turrets, how prominantly they also stick out for easy targetting, and totally lacking true anti-cap defences (size fours will be outranged and possibly out armored by many capital ships given capital combat seems to take place with larger size guns and a minimum size 5 torp (which i do think you can refit the Hammerhead with thankfully), it cant fufill any role particularly well. Light fighters outmaneuver it easilly and can take out the turrets at their leisure dictating the pace of combat, medium fighters and even some geavy fighters easilly outmanuever it, especially when its manned with AI, it has design flaws such as the hole in the middle which could easilly be filled with a cargo pod, small vehicle elevator, or even internal cago space, medical area, scanning room, dedicated snub docking collar (like the Connie), open mess, or conjoined hall for quicker traversal from each side of the ship. Not to mention, as is right now one of its primary features, armor, is yet to be implemented in the game.
    It misses out on too much of its potential to ever have earnes a 10 from me, and this is comming from someone who regularly flies one (got it as a loaner, i think, for my Polaris).
    Also, sorry but i have to pee on one of ypur rainbows. 40 SCU is outdone by a Cutlass Black...this is a subcap... i dont consider that a win. I consider it a critical failure that with its size and wasted space, it cant support as much cargo as the lowest capacity medium daily driver. And a military sub cap with no ground vehicle support for quick transport of VIPs (such as your captain) fells like poor planning.
    My personal Rating is a 7 out of 10 with Armor later, a 6 out of 10 as is right now.

      I totally understand your points. I gave this ship a 10 just due to the sheer fact that in the current game and especially in the future game its able to do exactly what it is made for. (after its balance passes)
      I picture a WW2 fleet and the hammerhead being a Destroyer escorting a carrier group. Because it fends off smaller targets. It's 40SCU mixed with its 11,000 QT tell me its a shorter range escort and ships like the Polaris and Perseus will put this thing to shame.
      In the current game with the right crew this ship would be untouchable. But again, it needs a big balance pass from turret health and ship health. But it also cannot be balanced into being the best thing around either.
      Thanks for your comment, I always appreciate seeing your support! The more I do these reviews the more I learn about these ships from users that have had much more time with them and that helps me for further reviews. To which each ship I've already done will be getting a new review once theyve had their balance, gold standard, or reworks.

      I think your problem is that you're thinking of these things in 1v1 vacuums, granted that's probably how it will play out in our little sandbox but I think the intention of this thing is to do what an A10 does in real life for ground troops. It's supposed to create a singular point that other combatants in a squadron battle either have to engage with or actively avoid. If a fighter is your infantry, The hammerhead being a Corvette would be your ballista battery or your wall of archers, If not protected by its own infantry it will simply just be bowled over without even really engaging in much attrition. In terms of it versus another capital however I'm not sure it was ever supposed to fight those but I'll agree it would be nice to see some bigger guns for more range so it's not just bodied instantly by things like the idris rail gun or Perseus cannons.
      Tldr: it has problems but I think how infrequent squad battles are in general is this things biggest issue, it never does it's real job in player hands.
