Speaking as a Christian who grew up pentecostal I've never heard the rapture taught as a secret . Quiet the opposite actually. Ive only heard the term mostly from SDAs
The rapture has been taught by many Christian’s denominations. SDA is one of the few denominations that denied such teaching. The only rapture that SDA teach is Thessalonians 4:13-16….not secret but universally seen.

@3abn hi, is it the pre-trib that you are calling a secret rapture? If so, again I don't know of any church that teaches it will be a secret (maybe jehovah'switness - and that's a whole other storyby itself). Kinda impossible for millions of people disappear secretly. What part do SDAS think is a secret?
We are the generation to gain that knowledge. It does not matter if Benjamin Franklin, George Washington never heard of it… If they don’t know about social media, does that prove that social media isn’t real? They lucked that knowledge of scripture because they didn’t reach that level of understanding yet. Just as God told Daniel that knowledge will increase in the last days, so it’s being fulfilled. We are still gaining knowledge of the scriptures till this day. That’s one of the amazing mystery of the scriptures.

True, we don’t even really need to call it a rapture, though it is a rapturous event: “When with rapture I behold Him/Jesus Christ, who died for me.” It is the Second Coming of Jesus in all its splendor and glory.

Your are so correct... the rapture is one of the biggest lies in the church today. Why would someone want to teach the opposite of Christ? To suggest a rapture is to reject Christ. He directly taught that He comes after the tribulation... Matt 24:29-31. To teach the opposite and suggest that He comes prior is to teach the opposite of Christ. To teach the opposite of Christ is to be antichrist... John tells us that they come from within the church...1 John 2:18,19. We must believe Jesus to be saved. Paul directly called the event 'The Resurrection of the dead'... 1 Cor 15;42-55, which is what he didn't want us ignorant about in 1 Thess 4:13-18. When Paul declares that he is revealing a mystery in verse 50,51, that mystery is how people are changed at the event he directly called "the resurrection of the dead". The terms "rapture" and 'second coming" do not exist in Scripture but were created to divide the "resurrection of the dead" into multiple events. The resurrection of the dead is not some new event revealed by Paul, but declared as early as Job 14:12... where we are told that it occurs when the heavens are destroyed. Jesus references Job in Matt 24;35-43, Mark 13:31,32 and tells us that the heavens will be destroyed and of THAT DAY, no man knows the day or the hour. Peter refers to Christ and tells us that Jesus comes like a thief in the night when the heavens are destroyed with a great noise...2 Peter 3:10. I think the point he was trying to make is that the secret societies are not of God and therefore, there is no salvation in them.
