as a nintendo and xbox fan, astro bot is a really fun playstation title and a great redemption after the concord incident, hope to see sony going to branch more variety of games on the ps5.
If you played the one that comes with the ps5 you'd know it's not a shock at all. The quality of that one was incredible so a full length feature of that was always going to be impressive.
Shocker? Rescue Mission and Playroom were some of my favorite games of all time. I would have been shocked if they managed to mess it up. I was expecting nothing less than 90.
Honestly? Not for me, when they first revealed it the quality seemed off the charts to everyone who saw it and I think we all knew it was getting 90 average score at least.

While I am not interested in Astro Bot, I am really glad it is reviewing well! That said, I really do think in the case of Sony they just need smaller games along with the Big AAA games. It helps keep the momentum going.
Not really to be honest. There are some useless features like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. If I’m being honest it’s just a controller and Xbox and PlayStation have controllers for different type of people
Wow. People are surprised Astro Bot is such a great game? Why? I knew it would be because, for one, the free Astro's Playroom that came with the console was an unequivocal masterpiece, albeit short, and for two, this is what happens when a studio is only focused on making a quality game and not pushing their ideological propaganda. It's not rocket science, yet PS can't seem to grasp this concept everywhere else with their brand, which is how we end up with trash like Concord. I'll definitely be buying Astro Bot because I reward studios that deliver great games who just want gamers to have fun escapism with, not to lecture them.

My sons and I LOVE the VR game and the PS5 demo game, and have been super excited for a full Astro game. Glad to hear it didn't disappoint! I can't wait to pick this up tomorrow. We'll be playing all weekend!!
Astros playroom was my first and only trophy as I never had a ps3 or ps4. And I've been saying since playroom they better make a full game and now they have and I have the shit pre ordered. That playroom was so colorful and fun my eyes felt like they were gonna pop out of my head when I played it.

The worker there was playing mk3 in a demo disc and that was about the time mk was pretty hot with the movie coming out too in 1995 … then after mk3 he put on toshiden and it was over I knew I had to work the next year to get one , I finally saved up enough on 1996 of September to get one ! Had PS1 pre-ordered either 1994 or 1995 from Electronics Boutique (EB Games) well before release and couldn't wait. Without a doubt the most exciting Playstation console launch of all time for me. PS2 launch felt more mellow and anti-climactic picking It up and actually playing It , the leap didn't feel as fresh and revolutionary due to DC dropping over a year earlier so we already had a taste of 6th gen for a while by that time. Dreamcast was the 6th gen console that felt most revolutionary similar to the level PS1 felt In 5th gen to me.. and I'd even say GameCube and Xbox with Halo at launch both Impressed me more than PS2 *initially* did , even though they dropped last. Of course PS2 would quickly pick up steam and wipe the floor with everyone within the first 12-18 months. PS3 launch was even less exciting for the same reasons with 360 already being available a year earlier and stealing all 7th gens initial wow factor. In fact PS3 multiplats were mostly Inferior to 360 versions for the first few years , plus I already had 2 PS3s preordered just to be safe so I avoided the waiting in line chaos. Overall I'd say PS1 was the most exciting and revolutionary feeling , even though the launch line up was weak It didn't matter because everything still felt so new and never done before that almost every 3D game was Interesting by default. All of 5th gen - early 6th gen was the most experimentally exciting time In the Industry imo. PS4 was the ONLY Sony console I didn't have day 1 , just wasn't too impressed or hyped for Its launch line up , all 8th gen consoles initially felt just kinda "meh" , but the other main reason I didn't get PS4 day 1 was because I was In some seriously dark times at that point and I couldn't really enjoy gaming or hardly anything. PS5 I had preordered and got from GameStop at launch , but returned It shortly after not Impressed and now focus strictly on PC/Nintendo/Steam Deck/Legion GO etc. I miss old PS1/PS2 era Sony when they felt proudly Japanese and were way more eclectic and experimental with a lot of their supported/funded games. Maybe PS5 Pro will change my mind (not If It's $600) , If Pro gets a 30th Anniversary limited edition with PS1 color scheme I'll prob buy It anyway.
I was really hyped for Astro bot. I was awake 00:00 playing it for one hour or two. It was really good but this kind of game is not for me. I'm more into Space Marines 2 and Metaphors those games is 10/10 for me. This can only become maybe 8/10 or 9/10 because it is still a platform game. Monster Hunter Wilds will be the best game for me next year and I already know that.
The irony is, I wouldn't mind a go on Astro Bot, even as a BIG Xbox guy. Also, back in 1995 I got a modded PS1 for £200 off my cousin, to get copied games for a fiver a pop off his mate.
I did not expect it to get this GOOD of a score on Metacritic. Say what you want about Sony, but they can still make great games. Almost on par with Nintendo... almost.

Hard to tell with platformers. The last 2 Ratchet and Clank games only sold around a million at launch. Spiderman 2 hit 2.5 mill launch week, which was a record for Sony at the time. So around a million is probably safe. After a few months or lifetime sales though? Who knows. This is a day one for me though. Hopefully it sells well enough to keep them coming. We hardly get any triple A platformers on console these days outside the Switch.

Starfield ya guess was kind of mid and not this year. Hellblade 2 was (the only game this year for Xbox) also kinda mid but I ran credits which is much more than Xberts can say as they didn’t make it past first boss 30 min in in a 6 hour game lol. PS5 has kept me busy with much more, this year so far.

almost as if a game doesnt need "dEeP, eMoTiOnAL" stories, preachy politics, walk/talk segments, and hours of cutscenes taking up half the game to be unanimously considered "good", and i guarantee you astro bot didnt even cost that much to make compared to the "games" i just described.
I’m kinda AMAZED. I FIGURED it would review well but didn’t think it would score QUITE THIS HIGH. Usually, it feels like a lot of the Western gaming media outlets try to find nitpicks with PlayStation first-party games and try to “blow them up” into BIGGER ISSUES to dock an entire point or two off (so that the Metacritic average ends up landing more “comfortably” in the 80s rather than 90+; like it’s INSANE that Ghost of Tsushima has an average close to or on par with Starfield).

I didn’t finish the free Astro bot 😂 it’s looks fun and beautiful but I’m not a fan and I used to own all PlayStation platforms
First time I saw a PlayStation was on an EGM when I was 10 in 1994! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Had PS1 pre-ordered either 1994 or 1995 from Electronics Boutique (EB Games) well before release and couldn't wait. Without a doubt the most exciting Playstation console launch of all time for me.
PS2 launch felt more mellow and anti-climactic picking It up and actually playing It , the leap didn't feel as fresh and revolutionary due to DC dropping over a year earlier so we already had a taste of 6th gen for a while by that time. Dreamcast was the 6th gen console that felt most revolutionary similar to the level PS1 felt In 5th gen to me.. and I'd even say GameCube and Xbox with Halo at launch both Impressed me more than PS2 *initially* did , even though they dropped last. Of course PS2 would quickly pick up steam and wipe the floor with everyone within the first 12-18 months.
PS3 launch was even less exciting for the same reasons with 360 already being available a year earlier and stealing all 7th gens initial wow factor. In fact PS3 multiplats were mostly Inferior to 360 versions for the first few years , plus I already had 2 PS3s preordered just to be safe so I avoided the waiting in line chaos.
Overall I'd say PS1 was the most exciting and revolutionary feeling , even though the launch line up was weak It didn't matter because everything still felt so new and never done before that almost every 3D game was Interesting by default. All of 5th gen - early 6th gen was the most experimentally exciting time In the Industry imo.
PS4 was the ONLY Sony console I didn't have day 1 , just wasn't too impressed or hyped for Its launch line up , all 8th gen consoles initially felt just kinda "meh" , but the other main reason I didn't get PS4 day 1 was because I was In some seriously dark times at that point and I couldn't really enjoy gaming or hardly anything.
PS5 I had preordered and got from GameStop at launch , but returned It shortly after not Impressed and now focus strictly on PC/Nintendo/Steam Deck/Legion GO etc. I miss old PS1/PS2 era Sony when they felt proudly Japanese and were way more eclectic and experimental with a lot of their supported/funded games. Maybe PS5 Pro will change my mind (not If It's $600) , If Pro gets a 30th Anniversary limited edition with PS1 color scheme I'll prob buy It anyway.

I found the 1st game to be an absolute chore, I don’t think the second game will be any different
I was really hyped for Astro bot. I was awake 00:00 playing it for one hour or two. It was really good but this kind of game is not for me. I'm more into Space Marines 2 and Metaphors those games is 10/10 for me. This can only become maybe 8/10 or 9/10 because it is still a platform game. Monster Hunter Wilds will be the best game for me next year and I already know that.
The irony is, I wouldn't mind a go on Astro Bot, even as a BIG Xbox guy. Also, back in 1995 I got a modded PS1 for £200 off my cousin, to get copied games for a fiver a pop off his mate.
Pretty sure it says that there is more to come in several places of the blog. Let's keep that in mind.
Personally, the only thing I am looking forward to in the 30th anniversary is the PSN sales

I did not expect it to get this GOOD of a score on Metacritic. Say what you want about Sony, but they can still make great games. Almost on par with Nintendo... almost.
🙄 they’ve had rise of the ronin and Stellar Balde which are some of the best games this year just because the score isn’t in the 90’s doesn’t mean it’s a bad game
@@thegamewin100 Yes, but I'm talking about their first party games, Stellar Blade and Rise of Ronin are second party games, which are great games too, but they just made something even greater, and its a first party title.

I wonder what metric Astrobot could realistically hit if Spiderman 2 sold over 11 million. What would be a Respectable number for Astrobot 3 Million, 5 Million, 7 Million? What? Im excited for it personally. I love Platformers since Super Mario NES Days.
Hard to tell with platformers. The last 2 Ratchet and Clank games only sold around a million at launch. Spiderman 2 hit 2.5 mill launch week, which was a record for Sony at the time. So around a million is probably safe. After a few months or lifetime sales though? Who knows. This is a day one for me though. Hopefully it sells well enough to keep them coming. We hardly get any triple A platformers on console these days outside the Switch.

should be free online for a weekend & ps subscription to mark 30th anniversary & no need for a special edition console they can do do plates & sell them on ps direct
Having the Biggest L and Biggest W at the same time should show what They focus should be on! Fun single player games and not the Garbo multiplayer live service crap! I mean we can still have good original multiplayer games but none of the live service versions play for 10 years mess

Sounds to me like Sony's checks cleared 🤨 I have no doubt the game's good (especially compared to the slop Sony's been putting out this gen), but it can't be THAT good. Not to mention it's a ps5 "exclusive" so it won't be available to as many people as other heavy hitters released this year, especially Palworld and wukong...
Unit 13 is a PS vita game, kinda weird to release the soundtrack to streaming now.
Starfield ya guess was kind of mid and not this year. Hellblade 2 was (the only game this year for Xbox) also kinda mid but I ran credits which is much more than Xberts can say as they didn’t make it past first boss 30 min in in a 6 hour game lol. PS5 has kept me busy with much more, this year so far.
Random question but do you guys think of the switch as a portable that connects to the tv or a home console that you can take with you.

almost as if a game doesnt need "dEeP, eMoTiOnAL" stories, preachy politics, walk/talk segments, and hours of cutscenes taking up half the game to be unanimously considered "good", and i guarantee you astro bot didnt even cost that much to make compared to the "games" i just described.

Usually, it feels like a lot of the Western gaming media outlets try to find nitpicks with PlayStation first-party games and try to “blow them up” into BIGGER ISSUES to dock an entire point or two off (so that the Metacritic average ends up landing more “comfortably” in the 80s rather than 90+; like it’s INSANE that Ghost of Tsushima has an average close to or on par with Starfield).
