im trying to install mint too but i can't seem to get it to boot from Linux and goes to bios instead. I followed the steps in the video and i got the installation completed and restarted my pc, but it keeps going in to the bios where instead of a mint boot option there are 2 identical Ubuntu options neither of which works

My laptop did not have the choose an efi file option, so here is a fix. Boot to grub, then type these command: ls (to show your your disk partitions) set root=(hd0,gptX) "(where your installation file is stored)" ls (hd0,gptX)/efi/boot/ press tab to complete and show you the files. Then type: chain loader /efi/boot/grubx64.efi Then: Boot If you don't understand the commands above, just Google "how to boot from USB in grub" and use the same procedure but choose the partitionwhere you burned the iso . Wish you well. Adios!

Thanks a lot. Finally it worked for me. I use a dell laptop with windows 10. The bios settings are different but after trying to figure out for sometime in the boot sequence option i found a file where i can browse and insert the file then once done i pressed f12 again and in the UEFI boot option, i found the file. Clicked it and it worked. Thanks a lottt❤

It's in "boot" or something along the lines of that. Then at the top there should be an arrow near the very top. Then you use the + or - keys to choose which SSD or HDD to boot off of.

So i did everything but when i got to the part where you need to reset the laptop and go to bios i realized i dont have the same options as you. I dont see secure boot or anything so i said fine. I try to start my laptop again but it doesnt want to boot with windows anymore only ubuntu. When i boot it with ubuntu it goes through a whole pile of codes and just freezes. Any ideas what to do this is my only laptop btw. And also my bios is rev 3.5 which has no advance options or anything.

i might be 9 months late, **BUT don't worry, I got your back!!** in the uui folder, extract the iso file and just move all of the new files to the root folder THEN, when you restart your laptop/desktop and get into the "boot from efi file" option, choose the one that starts with **UUI** (other ones will **NOT** work) then, go to "/efi/boot/" and you'll find a boot.efi file. **You're welcome!**

Cant get it to work for LMDE6 Debian Mint It does not see the disk/volumes, also not after using Launch GParted tab during install process Maybe that is bcs ut restarts in/falls back on Legacy mode, after attempting in vain EFI mode, leaving the disk unmounted somehow
this is not a good format for explanatory videos, to be honest, - when there is a lot of things happening and not much explanation about what you are doing and why. when somebody is doing the voice over himself the talking happens naturally, but when one creates text, and then asks Voice Over app to do the voice over for him then there is not much explanation. Conclusion, even if you use voice over soft you should feed it with more text. . Just advise.

I tried installing Linux Mint and got a "Failed to unmount partitions" error. It says: "The installer needs to commit changes to partition tables, but cannot do so because partitions on the following mount points could not be unmounted: /cdrom Please close any applications using these mount points. Would you like the installer to try to unmount these partitions again?" Then it gives me two options: "Go back" and "Continue". Neither of them do anything. Pls help!
Can this work on arch linux? I like testing. Something gives me the idea this will work, since it may be manipulated into thinking the partition is an USB

The only step that I find it difficult is the “boot from the file”. I’ve been trying to find the option but nothing. I’m using Windows 10.
After disabling secure boot hit ESC to exit. I was having the same problem as you. But this worked for me.

if you cant find boot from file, your computer does not support it. You cant install it either its impossible so, your out of luck

Maybe that is bcs ut restarts in/falls back on Legacy mode, after attempting in vain EFI mode, leaving the disk unmounted somehow
this is not a good format for explanatory videos, to be honest, - when there is a lot of things happening and not much explanation about what you are doing and why. when somebody is doing the voice over himself the talking happens naturally, but when one creates text, and then asks Voice Over app to do the voice over for him then there is not much explanation. Conclusion, even if you use voice over soft you should feed it with more text. . Just advise.
5:50 I dont have mmx64.efi file and cannot access the LinuxMint installation GUI after restart. I did disabled secure boot but still the order cannot be changed as the boot menu does not have option for LinuxMint boot file. Is there anyway to fix this?
I tried installing Linux Mint and got a "Failed to unmount partitions" error.
It says: "The installer needs to commit changes to partition tables, but cannot do so because partitions on the following mount points could not be unmounted:
/cdrom
Please close any applications using these mount points.
Would you like the installer to try to unmount these partitions again?"
Then it gives me two options: "Go back" and "Continue". Neither of them do anything. Pls help!
Note: I don't have any CD-ROM nor any type of optical disk inserted
