The older generations sometimes referred to those steering knobs as "suicide knobs". The reason being that they could be used to make it easier to drive while drinking, or drink while driving, depending on your personal priorities.

SERIES IDEA It could be called some sort of ultimate ricer or something similar. the idea is that there is a car that you guys have, and you put all sorts of random nonsense on it. But, it's not just anything, first either there is a poll for the fans to decide what sort of items to get for the next video, or Donut decides. (it would be a umbrella term, like "interior lighting" or "car food accessories" or "performance mods", etc...) then donut would purchase 2-4 items under that category or by typing the umbrella term into amazon. James and Jobe would unbox all the items, and review them and shenanigans, and then either themselves decide what item they like best or make a poll so the fans could "build" the car with them. Then in the beginning of the next video, they would put that item on the car permanently, and mess around with it. Then for the final videos, you could set up a hidden camera(s) inside it and park it somewhere, and see what kind of looks it gets, and maybe take it to the track too. Like this comment so they can see and potentially make this a series or mini-series!! Thx Donut for the awesome content🥳🥳
Just found your channel. As to the steering knob. We called them "knecking nobs" back when I was younger (I'm 80), and used them in cars without power steering. Most of them would fold flat so did not interfere with steering when not using them. They made one handed steering easy, with the other arm around your "honey". Power steering took away the need for them. The one you showed was too obtrusive for ease of use. By the way, I like your videos, especially when you try out after market products.
Theoretically yes but on such a small scale it would be unnoticeable. Taking a big poop before you go for a drive would have a greater effect on mileage.
No, it works pretty well actually! You plug it in and leave it plugged over night. Then during the morning it has drained your battery and you can't drive your car (unless you hack it with jumper cables, but that's against the product rules!) and booom! You just saved gas for that day at least :D
I had one of those steering wheel desks in the Army. I also had a netbook (small laptop), a printer/copier, and power converter. I would go out to my "office" anytime I needed to print something and didn't feel like waiting for a computer to open up or do it at home. It was awesome! The bad part was that I was at Ft. Bliss and the printer ink would dry out way too fast. So I would pop over to the PX and get a new cartridge for $15.
@@FruityBubbleGumKushh you know, having this small thing on your tiny steering wheel on a forklift accually helps with precise steering in thight places
@@polon9089 facts, I drive a forklift everyday for my job and I only use the suicide knob. It keeps your other hand free to use other controls too. It's mostly useful for vehicles that you need to turn a lot or when it takes many revolutions to get to steering lock. On a forklift you go from lock right to lock left a lot, and it takes too long without the knob. My truck also doesn't have power steering and I've considered a suicide knob there but it takes a lot of force to turn the wheel and I'm not sure the knob could take it, also it'll go straight through your sternum in a crash (hence suicide knob)

The sad thing about that desk that attaches to the steering wheel is that when I was still driving trucks for a living I'd see people with similar set-ups trying to run an office at 70mph.

19:19. Got to the end of the video then thought: “wait did that product say it was unisex for women” and oh my god it does
It is basically just a funnel, and it isn't like a man can't use it.
@@garethbaus5471 yeah i can see that, designed for women, works for all. makes sense.
That one is bad but there are good ones. They are made to fit a woman's body anatomically so there's no leakage.

16:09 Finally, you can practice driving a forklift during your daily commute!
I feel like Zach just discovered cocaine
this is what i was thinking but couldn’t put into words
Why?
@@kap1526 he just seems really hyper. It was essentially a joke, but I did notice he had a different energy in this video
Remember when everyone said bart was doing coke and he got sacked?
@@leonflpqzhz4765 nope. No idea who Bart is
The knob is very useful for 1 handed drivers, I know someone with one hand and they use this in their automatic (although the knob was much higher quality)
Also on 18 wheelers and class b sized trucks as the steering wheel is twice to three times the size.
@@Mrjumperdude01 big trucks and buses have this all over the world. I'm surprised a car channel never saw this anywhere in real life to think that there's a niche clientele not to mention people that lost an arm or were born without a hand/arm.
This is the coolest D-List BY FAR
When James made the joke about the sad picture of a guy in a parking lot with that laptop mount, that hit me hard because it’s 6:45 AM and I’m at my office doing exactly that (minus the laptop mount). I’m laughing but also a little scared you’re watching me.
Rice and Dice
The laptop steering wheel holder is awesome for tuners though. Would be good as something for while your on the dyno.
I got dummy fuel saver. no improvement , ther garbage. waste of moneys $50
That table thing is pointless. A laptop can sit on your lap or against steering wheel.
I can just see some moron trying to use it while driving.
Yeah they're going to make a fortune off those couple of thousand people who actually tune cars
@@JohnWick-stardawg pretty sure quite a few people tune cars lmao
“I would like a million fries please”
That doesn’t look like a million fries🧐😂
Just found your channel. As to the steering knob. We called them "knecking nobs" back when I was younger (I'm 80), and used them in cars without power steering. Most of them would fold flat so did not interfere with steering when not using them. They made one handed steering easy, with the other arm around your "honey". Power steering took away the need for them. The one you showed was too obtrusive for ease of use.
By the way, I like your videos, especially when you try out after market products.
Now we just need a porta-poopy seat
Isn’t there a car with one built in the back?
Don't I mean do not get that pocket PU is z z i e because I could not get that thing to fit in my pocket it was way too big

Wouldn't the fuel shark actually be using more gas because its sucking energy lol
Theoretically yes but on such a small scale it would be unnoticeable. Taking a big poop before you go for a drive would have a greater effect on mileage.
@@pv2xeek or drive naked, clothes takes some weight
@@bitelaserkhalif don't forget to shave your hair
@@bugattisss6603 mommy? why is there a bald naked man waving at me?
Everyone in the comments: talking about cars and products.
Me: bro James's tan line is epic
this...omg...I just kept staring at it.
Looks like he forgot to let the engine cool before taking a look at the radiator fluid level 😂
I was in another state, taking care of a family member (who has since passed), and decided we need more of these ASAP. Too funny!!!! 😂

Wanted to update my review: The fire department is currently here, heating has improved!
James was genuinely upset that steering knob damaged his wheel. I felt that.

16:10 this is how driving a forklift is like...
I rather use the actual steering wheels some time propane feel good on a steering wheel
@@FruityBubbleGumKushh you know, having this small thing on your tiny steering wheel on a forklift accually helps with precise steering in thight places
@Martin Liu no, theyre like thoseboxy things with metal bars in front that go up and down to lift pallets with stuff
@Martin Liu you meant wheelchairs?
My truck also doesn't have power steering and I've considered a suicide knob there but it takes a lot of force to turn the wheel and I'm not sure the knob could take it, also it'll go straight through your sternum in a crash (hence suicide knob)
the editing in this one is really funny. love this
9:59 - wholesome shoutout; i love them
Now James has an excuse to get a quick release steering wheel for his golf.😂😂😂
That was the weirdest suicide knob I've ever seen.
