hey Taylor, to respond to you ending question. I don't think its the number of options in mooers line that is the problem. it's the outlining of the products that causes the rub and maybe makes customers move on to something easier to digest. In remedy I would (if not already available) make a chart that compares directly all the varying features across models (with model release dates) in an easy-to-read format and display this on all products to foster congruency as people compare. I would also suggest future naming schemes that create a series with easily recognizable names to help define/differentiate between products and their target consumer needs. (ex. a mooer series called "curb stomp" being all 2 button units. these units in series would be "curb stomp" model "soul preacher" "block party" "ultra-sonic" etc. the larger capturing units could be in a series called "sound lake" with model names like "neural swan" or something similarly outrageous. Random letters and numbers we see everywhere it has no staying power in our minds and makes it hard to compare. The point is to have a funnel for people to follow. so, my suggestion is "select a series, use features chart, get name and information of desired products, than be assured in future support" the names being outrages helps the staying power imo. This is just my feelings on the issue I don't have a marketing education.
I think the biggest problem with Mooer is the lack of continued, long-term support for their devices, especially their flagships. They did like 3 or 4 updates for GE-300 and then called it a day. Compare it to how Line 6 treats it's flagships products, 10+ years and they're still putting out updates. I'll never buy a flagship Mooer product again if they continue this trend.
@Pyuras ya at the cost of the flagship models that is def lame and pretty unacceptable when compared to what the competition is offering. What kind of things feature or support do you think they were missing?
maybe i skipped it.. but can you turn the lights OFF? mooer should put a battery in every unit and make th "li" version mean lights. having batteries is great. bravo mooer. use a bose1 as monitor, when power goes down my battery powered, always charging setup goes on. would have bought this immediateley in pandemic. hx stomp so hard to power. had some nice jams in industrial spaces...
My humble opinion; this is what I personally expected from the Nano Cortex, even a bit more stripped down (2 pedals in front and 3 after the amp), we'll see how Mooer evolves, Neural's updates aren't fast either...
Unfortunately it sounds a bit off. Something in the response doesn't sound right, it's kind of stale and dead, and the high end sounds artificial. If I had to guess, the processor is not quite up for the task, and the capture algorithms are somewhat outdated.
i like mooer... kinda. love the mini preamp pedals, the cab loader RADAR... thought their mini delay D7 was cool... didnt do it for me. but mooer does some good stuff at a low cost. no interest in capture stuff.
On the older mooer stuff .i have ge300 lite, you can get the fx to spill over between presets if you have the same fx block in each preset..does the gs1000 do that Too?
I think the device itself is cool. The RGB makes feel a bit cheap, but I feel a touch screen is a viable upgrade. I don't understand the capture though. Why do I need to capture my analog gear if the captured model only "kinda sounds a little bit similar, I guess". If you don't really capture the device, just use any of the included presets. What I am more interested in is software support for older models. The Quad Cortex is expensive, but even years later there is always new stuff you can do with it. I don't know enough about Mooer product lifecycles to trust them that much (for a $500 device).
I'm pretty sure the Amp capture is so you don't have to bring an Amp to a gig with a full PA system with good monitors. Yer kinda bringing an entire rig in a small box. Pretty cool actually. Surprised on the cost. $500 is a decent price. Who knows what will happen once the Trump tarrifs go into effect. It might double in price along with many other things... :-/
If I left the HX ecosphere I would go ToneX or Hotone. I really wanted a GE300 but they just didn’t seem to support things after they dropped them. Spoiled with Helix updates.
@@Eddyvnhln5150 so, I’m not exactly sure. When I reviewed that guitar I tried to do the capture and load the gnr file on my guitar… but couldn’t find it after upload. Then mooer said they needed to make my account “featured” or something. Idk if they’ve changed that.
Multieffects with batteries and touchscreen, are they going to be as obsolete as the mobilphones when the battery got it's full cycles of charging etc, no one mentions the lifespans, although appreciate that Mooer gives other brands some competition. I'll probably never going to buy a multieffect with an internal rechargeable battery, regardless the brand.
This modeler looks like they can step into the Quad Cortex territory, especially if they could get a partnership with one of the plug-in companies. That way obviously being that whoever they partner up with, you could transfer your plug-ins to the unit. Idk,I'm just saying these companies seem to be missing out on an opportunity that would benefit both in the financial department.
I can make like 100 or more profiles in eight hours or so on a kemper. They need to bring that 3 minutes down, more workflow means more expensive produced packs.
Great video Taylor, although I'd like to hear more of the sounds along with Heavy Distortions. Does it have any synth sounds or anything like Eventide H90 does ? And can you run vocals through it along with guitars ? That would put it above if it does that... Thanks !!! Have a great day ! :-)

@@jimsimmons2674 I mean, they will die. It's the downside to any battery powered device I'm guessing it would not be that hard to get them replaced, but it's definitely a concern for the long run
And now mooer is like -HEY, EVERYONE IN THE OFFICE, WE SHOULD MAKE A RACK MOUNT VERSION OF EVERY SINGLE ONE OF OUR PRODUCTS -should we also include things like bags for pedalboards and footswitch toppers? -EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.
$520?!?! Umm I’m sorry but FUCK YEAH!!!! You have my full and undivided attention! That’s the most fair price for such a feature rich pedal I’ve seen in quite some time. Bravo Mooer. Bravo! I’ve been looking for basically exactly this for years now. I really don’t need all the effects but I’m not arguing with that. lol. I’ve just been waiting on this form factor (4 switch, no built in expression pedal, touch screen, midi capable profiler). I have a pretty awesome rig as it is but I wanna be able to go ampless if I need to. As it currently stands, I cannot do that. I’m stuck having to use my amp. I have a couple boost pedals but no actual preamp or distortion sounds. I get all that off my amp. I also don’t have cab ir capabilities. My rig is super bad ass… for 20 years ago. lol. So I just need one small piece of gear that I could still fit on my pedal board. I could replace my boost pedals and maybe compressor with it. And have presets for using my full rig with an amp and presets for going direct. Maybe even potentially have another preset where I would need to also add another rockboard patch bay to my board so I can go direct AND use my full rig at the same time. Idk. I day dream sometimes. Ribbon mic shootout yooooooo!!! Lol
They should kept upgrading the ge300. Quite sure they could offer this as an update. Ge300 is build like a tank, but what is the point of having it last forever if you will not update?! As a helix competidor, sorry mooer, but helix is a much better and reliable product. I love the ge300, but they have a lot to improve in their effects. A big part of this is because chinese still have a long run until they can finally figure out how to do business. Good enough isn't great, and that the chinese have to learn by constantly losing their market again and again... but i the positive side, they are doing a good job with their amp and drive sounds, they are on point. I love the wah, prefer ge300 to my cry baby. Reverbs and delays I guess I am not sure, but the chorus, phaser and others, just terrible. The work around is to never leave the mix too high, or u will hear how they sound terrible. Specially the chorus (some friends can't get over it).
As someone who used a Mooer GE 250 for a long time and tried most of the hi gain caputes on the Mooer cloud, i have to say that in a real life scenario, the MNRS 2.0 capturing is sub par, most captures are terrible and aliasing, and the cloud is complete garbage. This tech stands and falls with a strong community supported by the company, which is not the case here.
Why is every channel demoing new gear only using VERY hi gain sounds. Is it because most buyers of this kind of units are members of the chugga-chugga-society ?
My thoughts exactly. It’s always extremely high gain modern metal sounds. Lacking all the dynamics and tonality. That’s probably where these units are going to struggle. Even though I personally play very gainy fuzzy stoner doom metal shit. You don’t hear even that kind of stuff played out of these. Not to mention bluesy and dad rock stuff

Well. Its still a mooer product. It will have bugs. They try to improve it. And then they will abandon the product. Their products have a lot of potential. But the lack of customer support, updates, good working software will kill them one day I have the preamp live. Good unit. You cant use the built in boosts when using midi. The app crashes a lot. And the online tone hub just doesnt work.
Question for you Tyler. I'm in the market for some good gear and i came across your channel. I a fan of your content already. I currently have a shecter diamond series guitar and a old crate 50w combo amp atm. Looking to drop around $2k on some gear. I'm looking at a set of lichtlaerm audio pedals, a new guitar, or a nice tube amp. I also am interested in your Obsidian pedal as well. Been playing guitar for over 15 years and just never invested much money into new gear. I've been writing music on and off since 2010 but life and ny career have got in the way. I am a good point in life to where I can finally dive back in and the industry has so much gear now its hard for me to decide. I can drop $2k now and more money later. I am looking for a dope metal setup. If possible let me know what you think. Thanks and keep on rocking!
Well you gotta figure out what you need. Is your guitar bad (bad fretwork, warped fretboard, uncomfortable shape, singlecoil when you want humbuckers?) because if not then the guitar doesn't matter at all, they all sound the same in the end when playing metal. If you want to go full analog (so pedals, amp, cabinet) just start out with a solid overdrive, an amp that you like (maybe something like the 5150 lunchbox amps?) and a good cabinet with the right speakers. Do your research on what tone you want (creambacks, V30s, greenbacks etc) and decide afterwards. If you don't want to research anything, get this for the modern metal tone: Any Humbucker guitar, any standard overdrive (SD1, TS9 etc), a 5150/6505 and a Mesa Boogie 4x12 oversized with V30 speakers. For recording mic it with an SM57. You'll have the tone of every big metal record form the past 10 years. But for anything more specific you need to figure out where that tone comes from. Which is really hard since you never see videos of 10 pedals with the same DI signal through the same signal chain, they'll always have a different mic or cab and so everything sounds different, but it's completely unclear where the difference comes from.
@LuLeBe thanks for the info man. My guitar is in pretty good shape with humbuckers. My amp is early 2000's solid state. I've just recently just started diving down the rabbit hole of gear. There's just so much stuff now and I'm just looking for money well spent. I want to be able to have some variety when it comes to tone and limit myself lol
I had a mooer multi fix back in 2020 and the thing was just weird man. It’s like if an AI tried to design a multi fx I’m almost convinced humans didn’t even make it
MNRS profiles are actually very good for high gain amps. I wanted Mooer 017 micro preamp on my pedalboard to use it via FX return of my amp. Prices were crazy so I decided to buy X2 preamp. It came broken but the seller got a replacement for me from Mooer. Works great with JP2C MNRS profiles from Choptones. Not to mention that a friend's friend fixed the broken one for free (just re-soldering the dsp adapter socket) so now I have two 😊. Mooer is a great value for the money. And to be honest I like it more than my Ampltube/Tonex re-amped profiles. Only a few NAM profiles sound better, most if not all for vintage, old cleanish/edge of breakup amp tones.
@ELECTRICSCARS it's not for fractal. Their amp simulation alone is amazing. Now the only question is, what about their FX. Fractals FX are top tier. Some of the best out there and many people including Steve Vai is fractal for their fx. Also Keith Urban as well as many guitar players like the guitarist for Bruno Mars. I just don't believe their fx are as good or as detailed. Big doubt on that one there. However, it does provide value though. That's not to say this sucks. It's like, Line 6 fx vs fractal. The fractal stuff just sounds better. Line 6 still rocks though.
It’s really not standing up to them. You are funny. Fractal is the gold standard of total quality and after sale support. No one is as proven and trusted over time. Mooer got sued and lost for stealing code from Electro-Harmonix. Not so great. You get what you pay for sometimes
In good Mooer fashion, they'll release this product and abandon it right away, and work on some new product that'll come out next year.

Leo Gibson does a pretty good job of doing comparison charts in his videos!
USB-B(Printer) is a more robust connection & doesn't limit power handling for this purpose.
I agree 100%!! I bought the Preamp Live. Then they stopped supporting it. This new pedal looks great, but will they support it in six months?
Mooer just support their products for 1 year, and then releases another one to replace it.... just buy if you want to support this business model 🙄
Damn nice stach
For 299 this would be amazing, maybe even 350-400 would be fair, but for the price there’s to many competitors
Nux
Can you export the IR back to a PC?
maybe i skipped it.. but can you turn the lights OFF? mooer should put a battery in every unit and make th "li" version mean lights. having batteries is great. bravo mooer. use a bose1 as monitor, when power goes down my battery powered, always charging setup goes on. would have bought this immediateley in pandemic. hx stomp so hard to power. had some nice jams in industrial spaces...
Is it equal to Mooer GE 1000?
My humble opinion; this is what I personally expected from the Nano Cortex, even a bit more stripped down (2 pedals in front and 3 after the amp), we'll see how Mooer evolves, Neural's updates aren't fast either...
Taylor thank you for covering gapless feature. I am one of those sensitive to it people you’re talking about.
Could you demo pitch shifting with it? As of trying to substitute a Whammy DT for example. THALL.
@@Zordid0 I usually do, I just forgot in this video! 🤦♂️
Unfortunately it sounds a bit off. Something in the response doesn't sound right, it's kind of stale and dead, and the high end sounds artificial. If I had to guess, the processor is not quite up for the task, and the capture algorithms are somewhat outdated.
I’m bagging, bagging, bagging you~
i like mooer... kinda. love the mini preamp pedals, the cab loader RADAR... thought their mini delay D7 was cool... didnt do it for me. but mooer does some good stuff at a low cost. no interest in capture stuff.
On the older mooer stuff .i have ge300 lite, you can get the fx to spill over between presets if you have the same fx block in each preset..does the gs1000 do that Too?
Mooer do great products but there aftersales, spare parts and download updates are virtually non existant. Hence there fast drop in resale value.
Should i sale my Valeton GP-200 and get this one?
:-/
The last update od the GE300 was 2022 (4 or 5th update) and they released it in 2019. AND IT WAS THEIR FLAGSHIP MODEL
Hey Taylor, are you going to NAMM this year?
If I left the HX ecosphere I would go ToneX or Hotone. I really wanted a GE300 but they just didn’t seem to support things after they dropped them. Spoiled with Helix updates.
don't buy Mooer if you want your hardware to maintain its value and getting updates to maximize its potential
So now you’ve made this capture can you send it to your MOOER GTRS P801 I remember you said be great to have this feature on that guitar 🎸
I have waited like 4 years for an update for my mooer ge 250.
OK LISTEN This with Tonex Pedal (in fx loop and using the midi). Right?
I can make like 100 or more profiles in eight hours or so on a kemper. They need to bring that 3 minutes down, more workflow means more expensive produced packs.
Great video Taylor, although I'd like to hear more of the sounds along with Heavy Distortions.
Does it have any synth sounds or anything like Eventide H90 does ?
And can you run vocals through it along with guitars ?
That would put it above if it does that...
Thanks !!!
Have a great day !
:-)
@@laptoples yes you can do 2 signal paths, one for each of the inputs. I’m not super familiar with synth stuff so I don’t know what’s comparable 🧐

I really like how your approaching you videos as of late. Very informative and how you use them especially when you do them in context to a band setting (drums, rehearsals). Its really catching my attention even more than before. Which was good too but better now. ok rant over lol

Another great video! How is your drummer doing? Is he able to play yet? 🤘🏼😎🍺
I'll stick with the tonex and nam for my kemper profiler amp sounds.
Mooer kicks arse.
Price to tone. I'm loving the P2.
What if the Battery dies or will not charge anymore in 5 years or less,is it still worth buying the Battery powered one?I would not take a chance,i would rather the one with the Power Supply!
@@jimsimmons2674 I mean, they will die. It's the downside to any battery powered device
I'm guessing it would not be that hard to get them replaced, but it's definitely a concern for the long run
You can do it either way with this unit
And now mooer is like
-HEY, EVERYONE IN THE OFFICE, WE SHOULD MAKE A RACK MOUNT VERSION OF EVERY SINGLE ONE OF OUR PRODUCTS
-should we also include things like bags for pedalboards and footswitch toppers?
-EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.
Lol
they are gonna drop support for it in 12 months, just be aware of it.
kinda sad that they never made the app as a plugin, I would ve paid for it, the app is sooo good
$500 a year later than the $50 mvave black block 🤣
I needed to check my video speed config just to make sure it was not set to 1.25x lol

$2600 guitar! Sweet
I wonder how Mooer stack up to Hotone and ToneX
Man it looks so complicated, a have a boss me90 and I scratch my head sometimes!!!😂😂😂😂

So still no review of Line 6 POD Express Black for metal? WTF
Well. Its still a mooer product. It will have bugs. They try to improve it. And then they will abandon the product.
Their products have a lot of potential. But the lack of customer support, updates, good working software will kill them one day
I have the preamp live. Good unit. You cant use the built in boosts when using midi. The app crashes a lot. And the online tone hub just doesnt work.
Just another year or 2 and we'll get these cloner multifx for 200 bucks
Hey Taylor… What does it cost?? Did I miss that?
I had a mooer multi fix back in 2020 and the thing was just weird man. It’s like if an AI tried to design a multi fx I’m almost convinced humans didn’t even make it
Maybe you could try to demo music that did not kill Rock n Roll with its Darkness.
Maybe if you did not show a baphomet in your video.
Maybe not 😂
MNRS profiles are actually very good for high gain amps.
How about a shootout between this and the Headrush Flex Prime? About the same price and do about the same thing.
This is a huge slap to Fractal Audio, Quad Cortex and Kemper.
I am glad that there is finally a Competitor that can stand up to the three Giants
