I think it’s officially over. X games has killed off FMX. It’s been slowly dwindling for years. Courses getting cheaper and worse, events dying off, new exciting athletes not getting invites and finally here we are with the worst event, 5 riders (only 2 actually competing), 1 ramp, mobile bag landing, 500sqft parking lot course, no dirt anywhere, and the same 4 tricks we saw last year and the 8 years before that. 2 frontflips compete for gold while a double gets bronze, Taka gets last with a rock flip and MAYBE a bodyvarial if we are really lucky. RIP FMX.

x games needs a new freestyle format, a score with 3 segments, freestyle line, best trick and a whip. Just like nitro world. And a half decent fmx course like in mineapolis. This here is just depressing to watch. Moto X used to be the raddest x games event 10 years ago or a bit more

To the people in the comments saying this discipline “is dead” who have never thrown their leg over a dirtbike, hear me out… Without this contest we would have never got the Pastrana double back and some of the craziest body varial combinations known to man. The issue is that there’s only so much time in the air and the progression has been pushed so far, what else is there for them to do? Let’s break this down. The main complaints are about progression being stale and the use of the air bag. (These issues are 100% connected) Honestly, I am totally fine with the air bag because I personally know dudes who have been paralyzed from this sport. You have to be so precise; the margin of error is so small. The truth is, if we want to see more progression, the bag has to be there. Some will tell you that Pastrana, Pages and the few guys who did the triple flip broke this sport. I disagree. Who has done a 720 or a 360 double back since Travis? Or wilder variations of upside down body varials? Even the front flips off normal ramps are MENTAL. FMX isn’t an Ollie down a set of steps. This is the top tier of risks, and these guys need to be well incentivized, well paid, and most importantly, well protected. At this point, to do a NBD trick on a dirtbike requires you to risk your life against the odds. Too many men have died for this sport for this sport to die.

It was the excitement and danger in the events that drew crowds. People are mostly let down by the event! The x games are just a joke and most the riders are just foam pit and airbag riders now. Id rather watch Axel ride without flips and just show off bike control on dirt! Travis is an unfair comparison because he's skilled at every discipline of motorcross. Among a lot of other stuff aswell. How do they hold a dirtbike event without dirt? Harts first flip was iconic, these are just going through the motions. None of these guys even looked like they wanted to be there

It’s not the fans job to sell people on what X games produces its X games responsibility to produce a quality product. these frontflip combos are huge but tbh i am getting a bit bored of seeing them winning every best trick context. its difficult to really see a solution though, because clearly they are very high level tricks which is why there are only 2 guys who pull them, and only a couple more who have ever landed them on a regular comp ramp if Rob and Jacko had pulled regular frontflips they would still have been first and second possibly i have forgotten something but i think only David Rinaldo has beaten a front flip in best trick since 2011
Man this is sad. From packed stadiums to a parking lot demo. I was obsessed with fmx as a kid. Pastrana, deegan, nate adams, twitch, lusk, bilko, rebeaud, mike mason, todd potter. I personally think tom pages is the best the sports ever had. Just a bummer to see it fizzle out like this honestly. I miss the dew tour too 😢
It's just X games in particular hasn't done a good job for Moto x like they did in the past. For whatever reasons moto x has fell off....but also if you still care about best trick then Nitro World games is worth your time to watch and plus you get to see them go for harder tricks because it's a bit safer with the airbags... I still watch every year though hoping X games will make Moto x great again, there's still hope

Sucks that you guys decided that you didn't want Rinaldo in this competition anymore. He was the only one who was really pushing the progression anymore and actually made the competition interesting.

Mad respect for all the riders but I feel like this event has just being trying to recreate best trick 2006 where the riders did battle over the win only to finally loose to the 199’s double flip.
I'm really disappointed in this comp this year. It's so watered down and it made me wonder if I was actually watching X-Games. I appreciate what these guys do as a rider myself, tricks aren't easy. But, these are the same tricks we've seen for years and it gets repetitive. I usually watch the older comps and seeing this new one was absolutely mood ruining. I agree with many of these comments, this is killing the sport. These guys put in a lot of effort and they are not getting the respect they deserve. Give them proper ramps, give them back the dirt, get them back in the stadiums. Give these guys the respect they deserve. My suggestion would be to please listen to the real fans who are recognizing the decline. There are many new and young riders aching for a chance to be at these comps that aren't being recognized at all. Please treat this sport with the respect it has worked so hard to earn.
Best x games was Glen Helen , step up step downs , more natural terrain would be better like , on the pipe . Take it back to the hills Beaumont , Reche Canyon , Jack pot Ranch , Danimals Domain .

Xgames and FMX are dead. No more packed crowds...barely any inovation with the tricks. Few riders doing this nowadays. And most important, not a Lot of advertising. I was scrolling down YT vídeos and this showed up. Sad to see. Been watching freestyle since 2003

Rinaldo retired from competitions. It was his decision and X Games has nothing to do with that.
