PJ HARVEY is the greatest british female artist of our times she kicks ass.
Goosebumps & melancholy.
She really nailed it with this album, In my eyes the greatest female solo artist ever. No bag is out of reach with her ✌️❤️🎶
Loving Aussie Mick Harvey singing about "ANZACS"!
And as for PJ...what is there to say - Distinctive. Original. Beautiful. Talented. GENIUS.
просто нет слов! - одни всхлипы от восхищения и возвывания от белой зависти!
это... это... чёрт! нет, у меня нет слов, чтоб выразить своё восхищение!
This album and videos by Seamus Murphy, are the most compelling I have ever heard and seen. They complement themselves perfectly.
I cant get by a day without listening to it. It;s like a good book, but better.
Polly, your aim to write music to your words to depict England and its history and people has been achieved perfectly
This album is easily in my top 5 off all I have collected over 38 years.
It makes me sad and happy at the same time. Pure Brilliance
So simple yet so potent, the "i couldn't get to him" gets me every time, must of been a life-ghost
PJ HARVEY the greatest ever
Never heard nor seen a more beautiful song. British history and musid genius, what a combination. This song is just as beautiful as PJ Harvey herself
One of the saddest and most beautiful songs ever written.
she'll set the bar so high................no one will surpass her
Louis was my dearest friend
Fighting in the ANZAC trench
Louis ran forward from the line
I never saw him again
Later in the dark
I thought I heard Louis' voice
Calling for his mother, then me
But I couldn't get to him
He's still up on that hill
Twenty years on that hill
Nothing more than a pile of bones
But I think of him still
If I was asked I'd tell
The color of the earth that day
It was dull and browny red
The color of blood, I'd say
Who needs "budget" when you have an idea, a theme? This kind of things puts my faith back into the music industry in these days of manufactured big-budget pop dominating everything.
amazing. just amazing.
Polly you are a beautiful artist. You are a legend. What a wonderful album.
A Masterpiece! Heartbreaking. Makes me cry I can't stop watching.
This, first off, I have to say is such a gorgeously sad song. Secondly, THANK YOU, Peej, for that acapella performance in the start of the video - You look surprisingly adorable in a beenie. LOVE to see you as much as we can... Now, can I just say this song reminds me a little bit of the Pogues? Anyone else hear that? I know it's not, but it makes/ would make a absolutely amazing combination. LOVE THIS SONG!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE! Polly, you are amazing!
Haven't listened to PJ Harvey since college... a while ago. Maybe I should again. Neat video.
this is such a brilliant song. and fantastic video clip. Harvey / Parish - one of very few almost perfect music collaborations...
So beautiful and sad... Good singing too! Thanks
Simple, raw and, honest!
beautiful album....she is truly special...would like to meet her.... applause to the other member of the band...
this beginning is so sincere and direct and just straight to the point! wonderful!
The music, lyric, video...poetry.
A sublime track on a sublime album.
Another genius video to accompany a wonderful song.
her voice men! her voice!!
masterpiece
Made me tear up...good music gets ya' right in the ticker.
LOVE IT! I love hearing the whole band's vocals! Beautiful. Story told.
One of my favorite songs.
Nice to see them just like this! And great video again. Can't wait till 30 of may - concert of PJ Harvey in Amsterdam!
great finally another good video!
the glorious land video was a low, but this one is much stronger
love the beginning and the portraits are stunning!
Thank you.
best yet...
Mick looks so uncomfortable, awesome! I love this video
Sad, beautiful and wonderfully English.

Shes gotta whole lot of genius in her - Progressive artist.

so good
i think its best song on let england shakeeeeeee.
pj harvey come on turkey.
The claps seem to mimic the sound of a distant gunshot and a bullet meeting its' intended chest... poignant.
Nice colours of the Earth
love it!
john te amo, pj te amo
Beautiful Polly! I like your new political approach!
this song makes me not afraid to die
Sweet.
thanks a lot, vnd!
Is it weird that I prefer the acoustic 'clapping' version to the normal one?
It was beautiful... in a folksy way.
F*cking brilliant!
incredilby moving
@clockwork0172 yeah seamus did mention in an interview that he didn't want the videos to be too literal of the songs. i think that probably would make them a little too epic. but i lovelove when the rhythm of the song is reflected in the video, like the old couple dancing in TWTMM. it's intoxicating!
@EvelynDungeon no, he's one of Nick Caves Bad Seeds and was with him in Boys Next Door and The Birthday Party before that. his solo stuff is worth a listen
@rifatbaba1 me too beautiful sad and true - a generation who knew suffering beyond (far) what we know in western europe and the usa.....
genius
@janotosinnumeros Yes, it's French drummer Jean-Marc Butty :)
@ZLUGGO Only this, her latest album is preoccupied with war - She's actually NEVER written about war before. You must be a newcomer to her if you think that. Try "To Bring You My Love" which is my personal favourite Polly Harvey album ;-)
Anyone else hear the cow mooing at 1:32 ? Mick heard it too. Lol.
@janotosinnumeros Mick Harvey is the guy in the video, on the record & at the shows. And don't call him old!
Oh, Mick can sing quite good.
@3nipplesVideo He left the Bad Seeds. I don't remember when, exactly- it was at least a year ago.
You are right, though.
I absolutely love this song and this is probably a stupid question but the second part is the official version correct? Just wondering.
@janotosinnumeros It's ok, I was saying it in a lighthearted way, he is great though :)
That is one hell of a tiny leather jacket Mr. Parish is wearing. Has he tumble-dried it?
@bellaferraro it is mick harvey
@hudlifuk thanks :)
Mick Harvey, is it, pj´s dad? Chickens and hoses.
@blixem59 I'm sorry!!! haha ...I'd always heard and read about him, and know that he's an important part of PJ's records, he also participed in "Stories..." and I know he's got his own records.
hes like morrissey
who's the guy who starts the song? such a beautiful voice...
@ricchardo me, too. like that theme of war, lost and grey england, tho i am not from england. been there one time and i think its different then germany. well, what are her other cds about lyrical-wise. love?
@blixem59 hahaI know, that's why i put those "haha"
Who is the old dudde that starts singing? Is he the same guy that sings in the record?
they all look self-conscious
@clockwork0172 a lot of people agree about the videos being pretty boring sometimes! i looove most of the words that maketh murder video and most of this one, but most of them do get pretty drab. seamus murphy is an amazing photographer, he's just out of his element with film. and the album isn't just about england, it's also about war in general! but the videos are so simple.. too simple sometimes. it just doesn't work for every song.
pj
Do you know who is the one between PJ and John Parish?
PJ Harvey looks mediterrenean. Even though she's british.
lalala
Mick Harvey, is it, pj´s dad?
I believe she is from england
minus is more!
@clockwork0172 I know it. But the essence of this album is about humanity and wars, 'England' is just a metaphor, it could be anywhere around the world where the people suffered a lot from wars.
And the videos, I never expected anything from PJ's videos. You have to admit she's a music genius, but most of her videos suck.
That is Billy, isn't it?
one word... disruption
Why does she always write about war?
Why is John Parish dressed like that?
:')
it's really too bad some of you can't see the beauty and the underlying theme of simplicity in the films. i mean, what exactly do you expect to go along with the music? certainly no high-gloss,big budget dullard that never makes sense to what the artist is doing. i don't like that. these....they speak to the music beautifully and poetically.
@simmy3000 I will try to listen to it. I was a fan of her first lot of albums and am a fan of John parrish, but I still think this is mediocre.
love the song, but hate all the videos from let england shake, so damn cheap and boring.
scheißeeeeeeee
WTF is she going to make a low budget vid for ALL of the songs of her horrid new album?
What is all the fuss about? This is average.
@simmy3000 I was commenting on this. It's badly sung and out of tune and I know lots of people who do stuff that is far better than this. You're loss is you don't know about them.
rugshort its not out of tune at all. PJ is a vocalist, she studied opera. She's def got an ear.
