Am I the only one that loses his shit laughing at the initial "YEAAAAAAH" every single time?
God it's so funny...
Me too man, me too :D
Marcifar Cracks me up everytime.
I could almost picture this being a boss in a AVGN game. lol
You are... not.😅
i can never get enough of that intro!
King Kong...Bruce Lee.
Kong...Bruce Lee....
Hong Kong....Bruce Lee....
*HONG KONG '97!*
I'm the 97th that liked this... is this... A SIGN?
@@alexanderstavroulakis335 I'm the 197th like
King Kong fighting a giant sized Bruce Lee? Now that is a movie I can get behind and support.
kamenridernephilim
Bruce Lee doesn't need to be giant sized to kick Kong's ass.
what if bruce lee got behind king kong and...nevermind.
What about bruce's relative Chin?
For a brief moment I actually wondered if it was October.
King Kong with the massive slong
AHeroAlmost is that monster island buddies?
Konga will always be one of my favorite 'bad' movies. That special effect of the girl doll in his hand will never leave me.
"If it wasn't for the KONGvoluted history of Kong"
Michael Gough was also in the 1958 Dracula. Weird how he ended up as the butler of the Batman.
Oh yeah! He was in Horror of Dracula with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, what a cast!
Burton was a fan of Gough's work in the hammer films
@@troyandrew6154 Understandably 👍
In Mighty Peking Man the woman was not a love interest. She was more like a daughter for the ape because when he found her she was just a little innocent girl.
That's even worse tbh
I’d say Mighty Joe Young is a spiritual successor than anything else, I mean it was made by the same team that made King Kong and Son Of Kong after all.
"King Kong vs. Power Rangers" or "King Kong vs. Transformers" would also be great!
I didn't know Randy Orton made Kong movies.
Bodo Ballermann wrong type of RKO lol
I missed the joke...what!
Konga is genuinely worthwhile. Glad it ranked #2. I gotta check out Mighty Peking Man.
"It's Cinemassacre's Monster Madness! King Kongathon!"
So are we not talking about the fact the woman in "A*P*E" is the mom from "Growing Pains"? No? Alright?
In South Korea, "A*P*E" was originally released as, I shit you not, "King Kong's Great Counterattack."
The reason the effects work in "Mighty Peking Man" is so good is because they were directed by Toho Company LTD's Sadamasa Arikawa ("Son of Godzilla", "Destroy All Monsters", "Yog - Monster from Space", and who had long since quit Toho), with an assist by Koichi Kawakita. And Utam himself was played by Toho sculptor Keizo Murase.
The main reason the end of "Mighty Peking Man" is the way it is boils down to... Chinese movies are very pessimistic and brutal. Very rarely do you see a happy ending in Chinese movies. There's another Chinese monster movie, "King of Snake/Thunder of Gigantic Serpent", which has a similarly unhappy ending. I guess maybe it's a cultural thing over there.
Actually |Infra-Man was sorta optimistic!
@@diddymuck The exception, not the rule.
When I heard "Alfred" I immediately thought "He is the main character of Alfred 'n the Fettuc?" I am not a smart man.
ShuriBear Alfred n the Fettuc 2 coming in 2022 confirmed???
I would buy that!
An open world game where you can explore the vast world of Fettuchinia. (I have very few ideas at the moment.)
I would back that project for sure.
Launch title for the Dreamcast 2.
The A*P*E is #3... I think that Brandon Tenold would disagree.
RageJoona it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It's better than both the yongary films from South Korea and to me more watchable than pulgasari from North Korea.
casey is pulgasari a Godzilla rip off
I was just comparing them due to their region of origin. I forgot about dragon wars, which I think is better than all of the previously mentioned titles. Pulgasari on the other hand is about a small hand sized monster who grows and later helps villagers overthrow their unfair ruler; so not taking much from any Godzilla movie storywise aside from Pulgasari being a giant monster at the end. Effects wise of course but that's a whole other story that has a whole book dedicated to it.
"it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It's better than both
the yongary films from South Korea and to me more watchable than
pulgasari from North Korea."
No. No. Not even close. "A*P*E" is one of the worst movies I've ever seen, probably only edged out by "Versus", "This Stuff'll Kill Ya" and "Absurd/Rosso Sangue."
"Yongary, Monster from the Deep" and "Pulgasari" are competently made movies from people who know what the hell they're doing. "A*P*E" is made by hucksters staging a 4th grade play. "A*P*E" doesn't even look worth a damn!
I've met him and I can attest this is indeed true.
Amazing review. I love how you took your passion for King Kong and put it right on our faces. Thank you James!
7:07 "Kongvoluted" I see what you did there.
Fun-Fact: The People who behind the special effects for Late Showa and Heisei Godzilla film was also involved in Production for Mighty Peking Man.
Konga and The Mighty Peking Man are awesome 😎!
"King Kong vs Godzilla: Dawn of the Kaijus"
Followed by: "Monster League!" Consists of Godzilla, King Kong, Mothra, Anguirus and Rodan who team up to fight King Ghidorah, Gigan and Orga!
The sequel will introduce Mechagodzilla and Jet Jaguar!
Mighty Peking man is brilliant.
Matthew Nicholls Generation Why Productions I just watched it on Amazon Prime. They should've stayed in the jungle with the cheetah.
That face James makes in the opening kills me every time 😂😂😂😂😂😂 hilarious
That moment when you subscribe to Cinemassacre for more than just AVGN.

King Kong Vs. Donkey Kong
King Bong
King Schlong
ANationalAcrobat 5
That already happened when Univseral Studios tried to sue Nintendo back in the Early 80’s.
Thank you for watching and reviewing these. I love bad ripoff movies but I'm not a huge King Kong guy so I can only take the "original films" I think, haha.
Tarantino also owns the original reels to "Manos: the Hands of Fate"
I saw APE about 15 years ago on AMC (when they played movies). I remember seeing the same scenes repeated over and over again but the negatives were printed backwards to make it look like a different scene. One in particular was a 3-second scene of a gunman moving into position I do remember the middle finger, though it was blurred out by AMC.
#Kongsploitation
sure, some girl that was stranded on an island for years has perfectly hairless arms and legs :)
Kong was in the Lego Batman Movie. XD
He flips the bird!
Recommended by both you and Brandon Tenold... so I guess I've got to watch Mighty Peking Man.
I knew it was inevitable that the instant a Kong knock-off showed a guy in an ape suit flipping the bird it was right on the chopping block for James to review.
Mighty Peking Man was made by the same people that worked on Inframan!
Also, Britain made a film similar to Godzilla called Gorgo. Coincidentally the same year as Konga from 1961.
Finally, The Gorilla from A.P.E. giving the finger was on the cover of a book based on the Razzies.
Rai Alvis Henshin!
The Mighty Peking Man rules, the scene wit hthe elephants randomly killing people is the funniest shit ever.
The Mighty Peking Man is actually better than the 1976 version of King kong in my opinion anyway
I wish he would also talk about the Mighty Joe Young remake. That also deserves more love.
Just saw Kong Skull Island today! And it was pretty great with a few problems. I think you're going to like it James!
Greetings from your Indonesian fan :)
I love Mighty Joe Young.
Had to laugh when he said King Kung Fu
Thanks for the video man! It was fucken awesome... all those Kong ripoff films I never got to watch and never knew about...
I remember seeing A*P*E featured in IT CAME FROM HOLLYWOOD, and always thought it was a straight-up parody.
I've watched Konga several times and even quote it occasionally.
That part in Ape where he gives them the finger... laughed so hard at that.
Mr. Hyde vs Godzilla!!!
When Toho was involved with The NES game Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, I thought it was a promotion for the "vs Godzilla."
Hulk vs mr hyde I would love to see
Oh man, my favorite Kong ripoff didn't make the list...
The Italian film Yeti: Giant of the 20th Century!
The Mighty Peking Man got a US release in 1980 as 'Goliathon'
I love Konga for how bad it was, and Michael Gough's performance.
I love whenn you say, "Say that three times fast," and you actually do it :D
I love that Yeeaahhh!!! at the beginning!
the kong giving the finger...priceless
Brandon Tenold Did Both A*P*E And Mighty Peking Man
GREAT series james
i love these types
We all know why James wants King Kong to become public domain....
MUNKY FUCK!
Love listening to you, James. Never change
only 1000 views? cinemassacre is dying. *uploaded the 8 march 2017* YAY new video!!
Amazing Kongathon!! Hey, 4:20 isn't that Gorgo from the Addams Family?
King Kong vs Bruce Lee!? Someone get the fuck on this NOW!!!
Dude man. You forgot Donkey Kong. Obviously the number one rip off!
🖕😂🖕
I really, really wanted to hear Rolfe yell KING KONG AIN'T GOT SHIT ON ME!
That's a Training Day reference BTW.
These videos are actually making me excited to watch the new movie. I wasn't even looking forward to it.
I've wanted to see Ape for years. it was once in the IMDb Bottom 100 and people said, in addition to an ape giving the finger, he also wears shoes and throws a cow at a helicopter.
I watched some of “Queen Kong” and may be one of the worst things I have ever seen. So poorly made and shot and the attempts at comedy are so embarrassing. Idk how u got thru it James, but god bless your soul.
I'm loving these Kong vids.
3:02 THAT was, it's self, ripped off later by the movie Incredible Shrinking Woman!
i was wondering when mighty peking man would be talked about, finally
It's as glorious as the scene in the werewolf film Cursed, where a she-wolf flips the bird as well XD
I've never seen the movie, but the Konga comic series is awesome. It's mostly done by Steve Ditko in his prime, right before he got into Ayn Rand and stopped putting effort into his mainstream work, and the quality is comparable to the Captain Atom and Blue Beetle work he was also doing for Charlton. It's public domain too, so you can read it online legally.
King Kong giving the finger in the thumbnail...I'm sold
Damn i wanna see most of these now
Honestly, you couldn't ask for a better list of Kong rip-offs. All those films are heckling gold.
I've seen in a Spanish blog that the best thing about Mighty Gorga is, at the end, the expedition crew suddenly finds a lost treasure and now they're rich. They don't even have to take the ape back with them anymore!
So the Hong Kong King Kong movie is also kind of a Tarzan ripoff.
I don't see donkey kong on this list
Thisusernameistaken Lol konga does look like donkey kong tho
I'm impressed he didn't mention that Konga has a similar plot as Son of Frankenstein
3:02 He's flipping the bird! He's giving the finger! And I'm not making that up.
NEW RING TONE: Hong Kong King Kong Hong Kong King Kong Hong Kong King Kong
"this makes the real Kong movies look like sissi movies" 😂❤️
oh my, I loved those King knong rip-off, the mighty Péking man especially. I like the blonde woman and her multiple wardrobe malfunctions.
I know most of these already thanks to Brandon Tenold
I wish he would upload more
Has anyone ever seen Brandon Tenold's review of 3 of these films?
Yes
I'm sort of finding these types of videos better than the new Nerd episodes.
the up close shot of konga is hilarious.
Fun fact: King Kong IS in the public domain… sort of. The novelization that predated the film’s release (and thus was technically the original version) fell into the public domain, but Universal owns the trademark to King Kong. HOWEVER, they don’t own the trademark to just Kong, as the courts ruled the concept of a giant ape named Kong untrademarkable, so you could hypothetically make your own Kong film just so long as he isn’t named Kong.
This is how we resulted in the 1998 movie The Mighty Kong, the 2000 Kong: The Animated Series, and even Kong’s inclusion in WB’s MonsterVerse (note how they don’t call him KING Kong in those movies). And even Disney is said to be working on their own Kong show for Disney+! So yes, Kong is in the public domain, it’s just that KING Kong is still under Universal.
Coming here to tell you that Godzilla vs Kong will have a scene in Hong Kong
Hong Kong King Kong 2
Brandond Tenold reviewed great part of these
I ur favorite vandalism
That number 1 film version of "Kong" reminds me of the "War of the Gargantuas".
i never liked any king kong film, but i appreciate the special effect tech. good video.
James sold me on going to see the new Kong flick.
All this talk of RKO makes me want to see Randy Orton come outta nowhere and hit James with the RKO
Hey I remember Konga! They used clips of it on Whose Line is it Anyway's Newsflash game.
King Kong vs Bruce Lee, I would watch that, sounds like an awesome concept
just saw kong skull island today. you should stay till the end James, there's Godzilla after credits
fucdekids
You're joking, right?!
Damien Bustamante of course not. just wait till the credits end my friend. I live in Indonesia it release yesterday. you can check kaiju forum for confirmation
Can defiantly tell Mike edit this. Great review & video James!
The last video of the kongathon era
I have thoroughly enjoyed this Kongathon. 😊
The start of the video scared the shit out of me.
thanks for doing this kongathon, it's a pleasant surprise
