@@Rumble225-qe7fy It's like you're watching another sport really. Late 90s to about 2004 the game was slow paced, physical and incredibly defensive minded. Not to mention the games seemed more intense, mainly in the playoffs. You can understand why the game changed so much, I doubt the league wanted a team like the 2004 Pistons to be the face of the Nba. They did whatever they could to remove the physicallity and make the game as offense-minded as possible and it worked.

Jordan was hiting 43% of 3 pointers (what is unusual for him) and whole Portland team was hiting just 20% despite having better snipers like Porter (carier average 38%) Danny Ainge (carrier average 37%) Drexler (32%). THe smothering defense Jordan faced @4:52 with three guys spying on him. That's what Jordan faced not "one-on-one." You sometimes don't see that type of defense on highlights because the defensive traps forced Jordan to pass or make a turnover which doesn't show up on highlights. Also Jordan turns away from a double that he feels coming you often won't even see the double forming in a highlight video.

Just ocurred to me, had Portland drafted MJ with the 2nd pick, Clyde would have essentially been the Pippen of the team. Kind of like Superman and Batman pairing with MJ and Clyde. I disagree, it could have had a different effect if portland had drafted MJ.. drexler was already the franchise player in portland.. so drexler won't play second fiddle to a young upstart rookie like MJ.. I think it was more of a blessing that he went to chicago where he showed what he can do as a player and had good coaches like doug, who helped michael reach his full potential as an individual player and phil, who showed MJ how to thrust his team and then eventually showed him how to win it all..

He was sweating profusely and extremely miserable all day and all night. He also had insomnia and didn't sleep. He came out and had a great game in that condition and led them to a victory in a very important game. He hit a clutch 3 to win it as well. He literally collapsed into Pippens arms when they won. Terry Porter was the 2nd best player on those Portland teams(he did have a few great underrated seasons 89-92) and Clyde got his Trailblazers squad to 2 NBA Finals. I'll say now what I was saying that summer of 92 and since then.. Jordan is a great player, but Pippen deserves more credit than the media and these youtube content creators give him. As you saw in this game, Jordan got all of the calls. His best friend Charles Oakley even said it in his book. He said he would have conversations with Jordan and tell him that thre is nothing they can do because the league favors him. He also said Bill Laimbeer told them in 1992(the best knicks team of the 90s), "we hope the league let you guys win". Add in that you can't guard Jordan or it's a foul and on the other end Pippen is guarding Drexler and Chicago is allowed to get away with playing more physical than other teams. Charles smith was fouled at least 3 times at the end of the game 5 1993 ECF, and it was no call. Once again, Jordan is a great player, but when the league favors a player and their team (Lakers in the early 2000s), there is nothing you can do but hope they miss. Content creators and social media don't tell us this. I was alive and well as a teenaer when these games were being played.

your playing against Jordan in the playoffs, score 30 w/ 10 boards from the shooting guard position, after averaging 26ppg, 7rebs, 6 assists, 2 1/2 steals on the season, and being the only nba player to lead his team in points, assists, and steals , and you see how good the glide really was

I still remember my sixteen year old self being straight twisted over this finals......
I was all about MJ the 🐐, but that trailblazer team SHOULD have won a title or two.... It seems criminal that they didn't.
