Protect him at all costs. Ben not only is so talented and brought Clive to life in a way that I think very few could, he's also a bonafide Final Fantasy and RPG fan that understands their emotional impact and why people love these games. What a find.

The more this guy opens his mouth, the more I like him. Final Fantasy VIII is the reason why I fell in love with video games. And I'm so happy that someone like him is giving love on FFVIII when everyone else would ignore it. Cheers to you, Sir.

They could create an Final Fantasy spin-off to play the laguna story before events in FFVIII
Because of Clive It's hard not to think of him playing Squall though. But Laguna would be an opportunity for him to show a different facet, being a much more lighthearted character.

I love the fact that Ben Starr is a FF fan. My first Squaresoft game was also FFVIII. I also put in more than 100 hours when playing FFXII. You can tell he is genuinely a fan.

It's nice when the voice talent is also an avid consumer. In contrast, I've seen interviews with marvel stars that have no idea what they're representing or how to explain what's happening around their characters. While it isn't necessary for actors, gosh does it make it better when the actor cares about the product!
Ben, it is an honor to have you as part of the Final Fantasy family. You nailed Clive and you nailed our hearts as well. How you're describing Final Fantasy 8 is exactly how i feel for Final Fantasy 9. It was the game that changed my life.

Ben, I've been playing FF games since FF1 for the NES when I was 7 years old. Your performance was incredible and you are one of my favourite protagonists. Period. It's so wonderful to hear how FF has influenced you as much as it has influenced me. Good luck at the Game Awards! You deserve the win!

The world of Final Fantasy VIII was a refreshing change in atmosphere after playing VII, Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill. It's so serene, familiar, with some very late 90s looks and early 00s y2k futuristic elements here and there and the music is some of the best in the series. VIII and VI deserve a remake the most imo.
Final Fantasy 8 and 10 are more than just a game. They're something special and timeless! I hope they remake both chapters.
I think 10 is fine as it is honestly. Definitely agree on 8 though.
FF8 was also my first FF game. That openning scene sold the game to me, but I was not ready for the experience. Final Fantasy became my favorite franchise after it, and it has a special place in my heart until now.
Every time i see more of this man in interviews, he just seems like a class act nerd and that's very reassuring for this industry. I'd love to see a project with him and Henry Cavil at some point.
Thank you Ben for actually saying Tee-dus LOL. Also, I liked that he was knowledgeable and talked about specific mechanics of the game (for example, the reverse spell in XII), instead of just mentioned it in passing "yeah, I played it/enjoyed the game", etc.
Also, FFVIII for the win! My first game and I was 10, holding an English dictionary to follow the game story and all. It was literally life changing, because it made me learned English and I developed an interest in foreign languages... Fast forward to about 10+ years later and I went study abroad and moved across the globe.. xD
We really need a Final Fantasy VIII Remake! I imagine Ben Diskin voicing Squall and Max Mittleman voicing Zell.

The cast of FF16 all deserve awards, every single person and also the devs all deserve awards too. Great game and can't wait for any and all future DLC. I just hope it has more Jote in it

Ben, you were robbed at the Game Awards. While Astarion's va was pretty great, he only had 1 scene at the end where his true acting prowess came out. Clive's performance was absolutely immaculate throughout the WHOLE game. Your voice performance at the beginning of the game after the Phoenix fight had me feel your pain. You are such an amazing VA, and I cannot wait to follow you in your career.
Thank you Ben, I felt the same way! FF8 was my first game as well. I was Grade 4 or 5? Seeing the cinematics, the graphics, the settings, the music... everything blew me away. Of course, I was a kid back then I didn't know mechanics. I just knew it plays like Pokémon. I just auto junctioned cause for me it was complicated back then and then getting lost that I needed a walkthrough from game FAQs because I mashed X and didn't read the directions on where to go. I'm looking at you forest near Timber and finding the Garden at the C shaped continent. Even though a lot has changed and some I didn't like gameplay/design wise, FF is still one of my favorite and look forward to titles. Thank you!
Finally someone who also likes FF 8. If they ever remake it I'm sure he would be a good Laguna!

Still busy with FF16, think I'm almost done with the story, loved your performance as Clive. Everyone did their character justice. I started FF games bit late, but trying to get to all of them. One of my Favorite SE games is NIER Automata, did all major endings and I was gutted. Overall I love JRPGS and FF and other SE JRPG's are amazing!
more people need to play XVI it's great. It really is. Clive Rosfield is one of my fav FF characters to date.

Final Fantasy 8 has so much potential. They can do so many different school clubs like sports or music. And I always wanted to know what made Ultimecia that way. Each character needs more back story and a rival. Just so much to do in that game.

FF8 was my first and thus favourite FF for a long long time. This gave me Nostalgia goosebumps. First game I played until the sun came up again.

It is so great to see a fellow Final Fantasy fan pour so much passion into this project. I hope to see more of him in this industry, whether it is the FF franchise or any tiger game. Last night, I just finished FFVIII again, first time replaying it in 20 years, and that game would be incredible if they remade it with voice acting.

I hope it gets a true remake, and not a sequel in a retelling of a "remake"
I doubt they can pull that trick off for FF8 because it does not have the inherent ambiguity of events that FF7 has nor the cultural power for people to appreciate the strange direction a sequel in another version of original FF7 could be. In fact, it may work against it because FF8 has time travel so that would complicate stuff even further.

Ben’s so great. He really brought Clive to life and made him one of my fav FF protags, but you can tell how much joy he got from being a part of this franchise he genuinely loves.
His comment on FFX’s story is exactly why I adore FFX. It was the first game that ever brought tears to my eyes and made me view games with so much more depth.
I had a similar experience with my first Final Fantasy (X) haha. It was my first big video game that I got into, my dad got me and my brother a PS2 and we got to pick a game, that was mine. But we didn't really know about memory cards, and our dad didn't go get us one for maybe a week. So in that week I just replayed the Besaid Island sequence maybe 20 times over a week lol. Good times.
Ben did such an amazing job as Clive (as well as the whole voice cast) easily one of my top 3 games of this year, thank you so much for helping to contribute to that.
Final Fantasy VII is my absolute favorite as well. Loved it when it came out, love it now.

I love to see all of his appreciation for Octopath Traveler II. Would easily have been game of the year in most other years, but not even in the top three in the insanity that is 2023. Theatrhythm Final Bar Line is another one.
It's kind of crazy how moments can change your life forever. My first FF was IX when I was 13 all because I saw X's art box at a blockbuster and was like "yes this" (though I ended up getting IX instead for Christmas that year). Really got me into the thick of gaming and have been here ever since. Nice to hear similar stories and it's crazy how he got to come full circle!

Final Fantasy 8 was my first Final Fantasy when it first came out I was about 8 at the time.
But then Final Fantasy 10 came out and yea those 2 have been tied as my #1 Final Fantasy Games since then.

This is great! Ben seems like a really cool dude and a true FF fan. It would be cool to chat with him if he's ever in my part of the world.
But Final Fantasy 8 will always be my favorite cause Squall is one of the most realistic teens in video games. Squall is the truth.
This man poured his soul into this character you can hear it in Clive's dialogue especially the sad/angry parts. Get working on the FF8 remake Square Enix so he can bring Squall to life as well.
