Beating the final boss with just Gau (FF6)

Make sure to follow / lierxagerate for more retro madness!
This was a solo Gau run, in that I used Gau only whenever possible. I beat the whole game like this (including swapping him around with the other teams so he could solo all 3 goddesses and the other bosses of Kefka's domain.

Yes but its DAMAGE is cut by 50% in the back row so even at lv 99 for IT to do the full 9999 damage he MUST be in the Front row and yes the Masters scroll/offering CAN do 4x hits for Physical damage rages so that's 4x 9999 hits in the front row for when it triggers if you glitch in the TEMPEST Sword Catscratch CAN make Wind Slash do 9999 damage by lv 99 to anything that doesn't absorb it.

I had him at lv 99 TO avoid the 3rd Tier bosses instant kill move Vanish him before the GIRL half dies or summon Golem that instant kill move is 100% physical so the only way for Gau at lv 99 to LOSE the fight is if that death counter attack DOES hit and kill him instantly else still stick him in the Front row that physical hits of his at lv 99 still do 9999 damage.
If you need TO actually SELF heal him at lv 99 give him the Fire/Paladin shield and use the Meltdown causing Rage but for the 3rd tier final boss while the GIRL half still takes damage from Meltdown the other half GAINS HP from it so in that case equip the Gaia Gear Armor/Paladin shield and self heal through QUAKE using Rages on Gau instead.
