    Rafflesia not in S-Tier is absolutely wild. The Entice status instantly defeats any boss in the game because it wasn't supposed to be usable by players, therefore there is no immunity check against it. Also, because it's a script replacement status, it makes all scripted battle events fail, so you can end multi-stage battles after defeating the first stage only, because the game won't run the script to move to the next stage.

    18:39 a note about Ahriman's Roulette rage: the automatic targeting for rages takes precedence over Roulette's random targeting, so Gau will always target enemies with it and it'll never miss barring immunities...

    Rafflesia should share S-rank with Stray Cat, one for damage and one for hacks. Rafflesia uses Entice which charms one enemy, doesn’t get resisted even by bosses, and doesn’t get broken until death. If Gau uses Entice, that monster is basically dead and can’t fight back whatsoever. I definitely applaud the effort you took to make this video! Just stumbled across your channel a couple days ago. Keep up the great content!

    I feel like the Mu rage is kinda underrated. It can be pretty useful early game against certain enemies that counter upon death since it'll bypass the counter. In particular it's really useful against Hill Gigas to avoid Magnitude 8. Also in the SNES version it's your best bet for Intangir farming, since it'll also bypass the Meteo counter with no MP cost.

    • @honchdreigon606
      @honchdreigon606 11 месяцев назад +1

      Also Raflessia is easily one of the most busted rages in the whole game. Entice works on bosses as well as enemies, and since it prevents enemies from attacking you and doesn't wear off until one of you die... It basically shuts down every single boss fight you use it against, so you can either just watch them kill themselves or just wail on them with no repercussions. It's stupidly funny how easy it makes the game.

    • @veghesther3204
      @veghesther3204 11 месяцев назад

      It also kills them on the PS1 version but other then Intangir killing the Mu Rage isn't worth using on anything else on the SNES/PS1 version on the Pixel version I still had Magnitude 8 counter the Mu Rage's snare UNLESS you imp the Hill Gigas first.

    I would have personally put all of the rages that use magic higher than ones that don't (outside of really good ones like Stray Cat) as he uses no MP while raging, making them great for random encounter heavy areas where you want to preserve MP. Particularly healing magic, where you can just hang out in a random battle for a while for infinite healing! The main downside is actually having to remember which rage does what while you sift through all the bad ones, lol

      Yeah but Fiend Dragon is gotten at the final dungeon. Rafflesia you can get once you get the airship.
      The biggest insult on this tier list is Mu being F but he is okay with Foper getting A(who has a worse instant kill).

    @Bdewd, up to this point in the game, using Gau's defensive rages isn't necessarily or crucial in battles because every party members has curing abilities/stats. You've mentioned most of the rages found in the Velt but missed one which is the most powerful rage there is for Gau in FF6. Remember playing as General Leo? General Leo's "shock" ability can be acquired by an enemy called 'RETAINER". The SHOCK rage is the most powerful ability there is because it does 9999 damage to ALL enemies(depending on Gau's stats/level). All I know is when Gau's level is at 80+, the shock rage ability generates 9999 damage to all enemies.

      The only downside to the Gaia Gear strat is Edgar and Cyan can't wear Gaia Gears without Merit Awards. You gotta float them.
      Also there are too many Auto-Float enemies to make it useful.
      Once you get Fire Shields going, Mover (Meltdown) is a far better option.

    I'm surprised to see Rafflesia this low... but I understand it's because you had no idea that Entice worked on bosses.
    I'm currently playing T-Edition, and Intangir is one of the best Rages in it: instead of that awful Transfusion, you get to cast a non-elemental damaging spell on a single target, and still have Haste, Protect, Shell, Float and Vanish on top of absorbing all elements and all the status immunities.

      or on the Pixel remaster KEEP the NO encounters cheat on save for the Veldt itself in that case the best ATTACK rages are going to be ONLY Guard Leader Asperian/Aspik Lesser Lopros and Aquiform for aquabreath.
      For a NO encounters cheat Pixel version cheat ONLY the FIXED battle enemies + the ones on the way to the first 2 Ultros battles are the ONLY enemies that would show up on the Veldt once you turn the battles back ON for the first half of the game.
      For No the encounters cheat the only FIXED rage WoR only is the one for Entice since the No Encounters cheat does NOT Prevent you from fighting it.

    so when looking at various guides and stuff (including some solo guides) there was a list of some of the best rages for Gau, including things like Stray cat, morphing jar (magic urn?). guard leader, and yes including Rafflesia. maybe this is becuz its a great rage for solo? im not sure. but i just wanted to comment that someone said it was one of his better rages. so to see it on a D rank...i guess its overall?

    Mover is awesome when you get it and have setup, but he is a late obtain. Even solo-Gau(Mover) party can be brutal against most enemies while absorbing his fire attacks to keep perfectly healthy.
    Quake and other earth-elemental attacks do not hit floating units, which is hinted at because they have names indicating attacks below your feet.

    I didnt know you could Dive/Learn Rages outside of the Veldt…
    Might’ve actually tried using Gau if I had known this… He still would’ve sucked - but I’d have at least tried.
    Thinking he could only learn these while on the Veldt, and having to dive the specific monster after it finally spawned seemed like a stupid undertaking for such little return.
    If you dive in Thamasa, do you have to go to the Veldt to retrieve Gau, or will he come back the same way no matter where in the world you are?

      NOW I remember why I didn't bother.
      90% of Gau's Rages are some variation of...
      Punch thing slightly harder....
      Single target status ailment....
      Fractional damage....
      Effect if multiple of X level.....
      Available so late in the game you may as well just finish the game...
      and death variant that doesn't matter anyway since anything that would be worth using it on is probably immune.
      And or course the fact that magic just straight up trumps 99% of what he can get anyway.>

    Gold Bear is nice for randomizers for when you're starting with someone with Rage and you don't have much else, in my experience. Stray Cat is still better obviously, but if youre randomizing, you won't always have access to it, and 2.5x damage is the next best thing to 4x.
    I also like getting Luridan/Purusa and Killer Mantis as a rage, too, if the Rage user happens to be Strago or Relm.

      For that I believe they do for equipment so Paladin Shield Gau and Rages weak to Fire spell damage and he SHOULD STILL absorb it.
      But the Physical rages are based on weapons while Gau can't equip any besides the Imp Spears that DOES apply to GOGO using Rages so Stray Cat on Gogo WITH the HOLY rod equipped would only have Cat Scratch HEAL the Kefka's Tower enemies that would absorb the spell.

    • @iamthehobo
      @iamthehobo 11 месяцев назад +1

      @veghesther3204 wow sounds line those interactions, especially on mime, get insane. You're telling me I could hit elemental weaknesses with stray cat?

    • @veghesther3204
      @veghesther3204 11 месяцев назад +1

      Yes you can since Cat Scratch is 100% physical which is why it even WORKS 4x WITH the Offering/Masters scroll its just that Gau's ONLY default weapon he can equip are those Imp Halberd spears.
      So ONLY Gogo COULD equip a Elemental Weapon and it WOULD make Stray Cat match that Element but since Gogo CAN equip the HEAL Rod it would make ALL Physical Non elemental damage rages actually HEAL the enemies if they aren't undead.
