Was Marle and Chrono getting married one of the new endings added in the DS version of the game? I don't remember that at all from that verison, I might have just never seen that new ending though. I believe the Steam and mobile versions of the game were based on that DS port.

I think perhaps doing a plus 1 2 or 3 points for accessibility and level ip bonus would have made for a more fair ranking system.

I want to say this: Each of the 14 has a place in excellence, but if you don't know how to use them (each) correctly... you should not judge their "quality". There is 3 thieves in the game: Locke (2 types), Shadow (& his protector/revenge --> interceptor), and Gogo (I do all things "poorly" because of stats). There have very good uses and they are different and dynamic (learn how to use them wisely). There are 3-5 knights (magical): Terra (buffed), Celes (mag. def.), and Edgar (support/versatile). Cyan is more (tactician, +1 imp/retort glitch) knight than (magical) and Mog is more (terrain) magical than (knight). There are 3 characters that copy monsters: Gau (+1 wind god glitch), Strago, and Relm (+1 invis. glitch). Find strong monsters & get strong attacks. There are 2 luck-based characters: Setzer (rng?, slots) and Umaro (berserk status). I would like to say Sabin is the only hero character in the game. (Heart of gold, strong, reliable, knows what the value/meaning/need for sacrifice).

Death Gaze is probably the most boring and annoying sidequest boss ever in this franchise. You can search him non stop and never find him or only find him when you are not prepared.

Edgar, Sabin, Celes, MOG, is my ideal party.

Gau can break the game if you have the patience to get the right skills, and Relm can literally break your game file, or so i heard.

Ive been playing this game since it came out on SNES (Im old) and to this day, I've never used Runic on anything but Tunnel Armor.

Useless Alluring Rider info. She's riding a tapir, not a warthog-thing lol. Much like Drowzee and Hypno from Pokemon and Luna in Animal Crossing, tapirs are associated with dreams in Japan. So you see those two things pop up together all the time

Where in gods name is Rafflesia? That spell completely breaks even the toughest bosses, nothing is immune….it not being #1 or #2 baffles me

Early on definitely Stray Cat is the best, but later on I mostly just used Rafflesia, Fiend Dragon (Southern Cross is so cool being able to freeze bosses, not as broken as Rafflesia/Entice, but still cool) and Magic Urn for the free healing and elemental/status immunity….i played the GBA version too, so no Win God Gau lol

Cats are basically the best espers. So good they actually proved espers and humans can co-exist. So Iong as human are the slaves of them...

Shit man, Mog is great end-game, his equipment makes him damn near invincible, mostly the Snow Scarf or whatever it’s called….lol, otherwise it’s your list, and it’s good to note that all characters can be made ALMOST equal anyway, unless your Umaro or Gogo

I actually like Umaro in the GBA version, especially in the coliseum. The Bone Wrist helps make him at least viable….not good, but viable, having 9999 HP helps. I HAAAAAATE how the Pixel Remasters don’t include previous version additions. I thought the 8 new elemental dragons, Kaiser and Omega offered a decent challenge, which is something the base game does not….i’ll forever stick to the GBA version

To me, the only 4 Espers worth using IN COMBAT, AGAINST A BOSS FIGHT are Golem, Zone Seeker, Fenrir, and Phoenix….Quetzalli I can see use for in place of Fenrir, maybe to avoid one big attack from a boss, and MAYBE Bahamut, just because it’s Bahamut, but to me, a one time simple attack spell isn’t worth it in a boss fight…I’m mostly talking about end-game. I don’t remember the spells or level up stats from the GBA summons, but the summon attacks themselves are all simple attacks so I don’t recommend them

you can tell that not a lot of work was done. he missed *entice* which is gamebreaking.

swordtech abilities suffer from a fundamental flaw: you have to wait to use them at anything higher than 1. by the time you get to 4 or higher, all the enemies are dead because all the other party members acted first. it really should have been a menu based system, like edgers tools.

You are severely underrating Gau, Locke, and Mog. Gau and Mog can both use the Snow Scarf accessory, which makes them crazy tanky. They are some of the best casters in late game for this reason in my opinion.

I had to beat the Siege at a low level, so I actually knew about the second trick.

In my opinion flash is better then bio blaster because some enemies can be healed buy the bio blaster. And that makes it a real pain in some areas

Ehhhh, I don't get Empowerer before Floating Continent, and while it's niche I wouldn't say it's actually BAD or useless, certainly not for the time it takes to charge up. Slash is more junky. Cleave is absolutely 3rd worst. It can instant Game Over you if you're really dumb about it. After that it's all good. In no way, shape or form, am I at Level 15 for Narshe.

Edgar is the best character in the game. His tools are super powerful, cost nothing once bought, never miss, ignore defense, can cause status effects, and are fast. On top of that he can equip swords, spears, and heavy armor. The guy is almost perfect.

God FF6 is so broken and all the characters are completely OP. There's so many powerful attacks in this game and Edgar has alot of them.

I have to ask, you listed the initial Zozo espers as 9/10 for accessibility - the first espers in the game that you can get, who are all unavoidable. So is a 10/10 even possible? And what would that even look like?

I am ok with where the chainsaw is, I am just unsure about the noise blaster. I felt like it was great for mobs, particularly on Mt Kolts. I could confuse all the enemies, then focus on killing one at a time. Sometimes the birds would cast break on another enemy and make the fight even easier.

Gotta ditto that opinion! Terra is also my fave, though my core four has always been Terra, Celes, Edgar, and Sabin. Terra's storyline probably saved my life in my teens. She, despite literally being a video game character, taught me coping mechanisms to handle abuse.

The low level runs have great significance here and in FF9 because of the max stat potential while leveling up with certain equipment on.

Umaro not getting any credit for his best moment in the fanatic tower, and Gau getting placed second last…not a great start to this list. Feels like you don’t have a full breadth of knowledge of what Gau can do. He is top tier for a huge chunk of the game, and can absolutely wreck bosses with Rafflesia’s charm. I give this list a 1/10 so far.

I had multiple dungeons thst were cleared almost entirely by Gau using Snare so I was surprised to see it so low on the list

I'm here for the Locke hate. God I hate his character. He's so weak (in battle), and the whole game I feel a weird obligation to "include him in things" because he was there from the beginning. The only time he does anything great is when he does that weird spaz out attack against flying enemies. Toward the end I always put off Phoenix cave to the end because I HATE having to have him. but yo, SHADOW REALLY? nah man, Shadow is at least A tier.

Sabins broken, easily the best. Gau is underrated when you have the good rages. Cyan is overrated because his skill takes way too long to charge up, can’t aim, and often utilizes his terrible magic stat (for some reason his physical samurai blade skills use magic).

Mog with the ribbon and 4x attack relic with pearl lance wins every time in arena. Definitely useful for trading up weapons and acquiring extra experience eggs. Use moogle charm to walk right to top of fanatics tower. Quit watching after rating him nearly last
