I think that sometimes Vinnie doesn't have the necessary seriousness to play his songs, I feel that he's bored, I think he works better in the studio or accompanying someone, here he looks angry.
I'm not trying to be rude, but you realize he is playing with Karizma here - Michael Landau, Neil Stubenhaus, and David Garfield. He's not just playing to a backing track. He is playing with others, and interacting. Nevermind the smiles that cross his face just in the first few minutes. Vinnie has said on multiple occasions these are three of his absolute favorite people to play with in the world. I can't imagine him being any happier, at least from a playing standpoint. If he is not pleased about anything, maybe it's the actual sound in the hall or room that they are playing. But I don't think it has anything to do with what he is playing, or who he is playing with. He has also always said about this particular tune, he was just having a joke with it, with regard to the beat displacement. And having fun is the ultimate goal..
