nine hours, nine persons, nine doors is an AMAZING story-heavy game with an interesting story, unique characters and creative mechanics, as well as a ton of different endings. definitely worth checking out

Remco vissers well I’d never heard of it before playing it, I stumbled upon it on a list of ROMs, so it’s not *that* well known and definitely worth a mention
definitely one of my favorite 5 games of all time and probably favorite videogame plot. :>

I would add to the list 3 of my favorite games
LostMagic: you control a wizard and use spells with the stick, story heavy
Monster Tale: you go through a world of monsters and have a monster companion who grows, kind of like s Tamagotchi but it helps you in fights
Spectrobes: you explore different planets and you fight with the help of the spectrobes, pokemon lile creatures that are in fossil form and you have to wake up
Man of culture. I absolutely loved the spectrobes games!

As I was waiting for this video to load I thought “it would be fantastic if he mentioned Contact, but no way would that happen”. It’s so nice to see that game again!
I would personally add "Ghost trick", idk if it can be considered as underrated but one of my favorites games from the ds by far

I’d also say that DBZ: Attack of the Saiyans is a really underrated game for the system. Yeah, it’s based on a very popular anime, but a lot of people dismissed it because it’s an RPG and not a fighting game like the franchise is known for.
It is a solid RPG with good fanservice for fans of original DB and the Saiyan saga, and some unique partner attacks that give the game more variety. The music is also really solid and it did well getting sound effects that fit the series without being too repetitive.
Only issue I’d give the game is that there’s a part where you have the option to go to 6 different areas to collect the other dragon balls, and the area closest to you when you are given this information is the area with the strongest enemies out of the 6, which feels kinda like a beginners trap, but it’s not like you can’t just leave and come back later.
What about Ghost Trick? I thought it was one of the most unique experiences on the DS.
@kosmosrebell Nah man, that's like one of the best DS games ever and it barely gets talked about. It's about as underrated as a game gets.

I would put pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of time/darkness/sky on this list. It has a deep and moving story, impressive graphics, great tactical gameplay, and the best soundtrack on the ds. Just play it now.
GenmuLVLX I mean yeah, Sky is my favorite video game ever, but the GBA/ DS games have a total of over 12 million sales so I wouldn't necessarily call them underrated
@@AlenobaLP but nowadays, not many people talk about it anymore. It doesn't help that gti bombed and super didn't sell enough. Not to mention explorers got mixed reviews.

Great video, Pokemon Conquest is one of the best in the list, Glory of Heracles is a fun filled JRPG with lots of Greek/Roman mythological stuff, some of the other games are amazing too.
I would have put sola to robo and okami den in this list
Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ is an underated tough as nails on rails shooter.
If you do another one of these, Custom Robo Arena is a great underrated game.
It wasn't as good aa the one on gamecube though
@@theskyrax670 they are both presented in different ways so its hard compare them, but I kind of prefer Arena because of the story, all the diffeent characters, ant the detailed robo customisation, as well as more robo types, great sprite art as well as the portability.

I would add Another Code to this list, however, these are underrated games, and being underrated means that someone at least played them. Another Code would more fit in under "overlooked". Play it if you haven't and love mystery puzzlers that are text heavy and have a phenomenal soundtrack!!

I would personally pick Super Princess Peach:
Not only is it terribly, tragically underrated for what it was and the company - or at least the **type** of company - that made this, but the game wasn't even underrated for the right reasons. People who believed in her as a "strong and able" character and a real person than merely solely a plot device, raged at the game for how "sexist" it came out to them to be, and to be perfectly frank, a lot of those people were hyper feminist trolls anyway.
But the kicker here is how Nintendo they themselves had actually LISTENED to the rage and smut that came up about this game. Their faithful decision to never do another Peach game again specifically because of this had completely destroyed the progression of Mario in those specific regards. In fact, it did more than completely destroyed the progression of Mario in those specific regards because ... well, you ... might've noticed that there hasn't been a "unique" 2d Mario game since SML2SGC due to their decade-long running New Super Mario Bros. sub-series, as well as **mayybeee** the general lack of games this decade and last compared to previous decades before the 00's. ...
It had basically been a critical mistake.
The truth is, I personally believe, and more importantly consider objective, Nintendo had not just had ignored critical advice from TOSE that last decade, they OUTRIGHT rejected it. Having themselves left to go their own separate ways would cost us the franchise we've all used to love and rub ourselves in - one where our friends Mario Luigi Peach Bowser and Wario were not that far away from the sitcom flair of the Power comics, one where each and every character *at least* got a role every now and then and then some. Nintendo's decision to outright and blatantly say no to a product COMPLETELY cost us this potential future - and did more than COMPLETELY cost us this potential future, because of also the incredible plus magical skill and profession that Nintendo even once had that had gone along with it even only just relatively recently, what a shame this **had** been, and still is today.

I picked it up several months ago, it's a great game.

SPP was a great game. Maybe too easy but still fun. Would love to see a remake of it with better graphics and more leves, oh and of course the conclusion to Perry´s story.
It´s also worth noting it was one of the first games to feature Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World enemies together (which I loved), long before games like Super Mario 3D World.
I wish we had a brand new Drawn to Life for the Switch!!! I took it as my own custom Kingdom Hearts game !

Top ten underrated *RPGs* on the DS
Nice video and thank you for the nice memories of some of these games. Another DS game that I would say is highly underrated is Lock’s Quest, a game developed by the same team behind Drawn to Life. For those who don’t know, Lock’s Quest is a Tower Defense like game that follows a young man named Lock, who gets involved in a war between his Kingdom and the Clockwork forces after his village is attacked by the latter. As an archenieer (a combination of an architect and engineer), Lock’s job is to build up defenses to fight against the Clockwork hoards until the end of each day. Each day is is divided into two phases; The first is the building phase where you build your defenses ranging from walls, various turrets, and traps before the hoards arrive. The second phase is the battle phases where you get to control Lock to fight off the Clockworks with special techniques and super moves while having to manage your defenses by repairing them when they get too damaged and protect the defense point in most missions. Sometimes the game can get repetitive in certain levels, but it does shake things often enough with other objectives simply defending, such as seizing certain enemy positions, defending multiple objectives across the map, and several boss battles. The story of the game is pretty good overall, though it does have a few things I might have gripes with. The music of the game is fantastic as well. Only real complaint I have with the game is the post game being all of the levels you can choose from, but with enemy clockworks all bumped up by a tier (which might make some maps a lot more frustrating), but other than that, a solid and amazing game overall. I heard that I got ported onto I think PS4 and Steam (correct me if I’m wrong), but they are kind of buggy and have other issues of their own. If you stumble upon it, it’s a great game.

Same here!I have a switch with smash and splatoon but i sometimes go back to my 3ds/ds/wii and just play it, I end up playing on them more than on Switch
@@saucetto2016 Same I've been playing my WiiU for the Zelda hd remasters and Wii games rather than my switch lol. But we have some good games coming soon enough to switch too
You forgot Rune Factory 3. The game is so incredible and so underrated. The battle system is good, characters in town have very unique personalities, you can take care of your farms and "Animals" like Harvest Moon games, date girls.. hope i find any game like that again
You got me wanting to revisit my copy of Pokemon Conquest, man I really wish they came out with another one, it was so incredibly fun
I know it’s not underrated in terms of sales, but Pokemon Black and White were heavily criticised at the time by Pokemon fans and in retrospect are probably the best in the series.
Keir you’re right. i think diamond/pearl/platinum also get too much shit bc of the bad pacing, both i think are the best Pokémon games.
Drawn to Life actually sparked a lot of great things to me! I made a hero that turned out to be really special to me... and that's just to name one of the things Drawn to Life has impacted me!

DQMJ is the one that got me into DQ and it's now one of my favorite game series, and I loved Drawing to Life as a kid.

Loved DQMJ I spent so much time on that game when it came out and at thr time hadn't even played any of the Dragon quest games, its quite the hidden gem.
I also love Ghost Trick, it is pretty underrated as well.
What about the Sonic Rush trilogy? It isn’t particularly hated and did very well critically and commercially. But I see it on almost no list of the top ten best DS games.
ChaseCain356 agreed. Colors used to get the most hate out of all the Sonic Rush games (people compared it with the wrong Rush game too... It used Rush Adventure's engine, not the original Sonic Rush. This is further proven by going into the game's files and seeing that it reuses the models and some of the file structure as Rush Adventure.)

Colors DS wasn’t even that bad, like year, the Wii game is better, but it isn’t trying to replace the game on the Wii. It is like a bonus.

Man, I just remembered Dragon Quest! I loved that game when I was smaller, but I couldn't remember it based on gameplay but rather on the OST
Knights in the Nightmare is my favorite DS game and an excellent hidden gem.
DQMJ is tied for my favorite DS game, it’s only competition being Magical Starsign. I rarely every see anyone mention Magical Starsign, but it’s a unique JRPG experience I recommend as a must for any fan of the genre

The Wizard of Oz: Beyond the Yellow Brick Road was a shock it is a cute JRPG light with lots of exploring and wonderful graphics and sound. The music is fantastic and the controls? A call on the touch screen so it is totally analog..
Retro Game Challenge, 999, Solatorobo, Ghost Trick, Rocket Slime Adventure, Legendary Starfy, Henry Hatsworth, Dementium, Final Fantasy Chocobo Tales, Final Fantasy 4 Heroes of Light, Time Hollow, Locks Quest, Disgaea, Lunar Knights, Tingles Rosy Rupeeland just to Name a few good Games nobody really seems to know^^
I kinda expected to see 999 (9 hours, 9 persons, 9 doors)! It's a great puzzle game, heavily plot driven with multiple endings based on your choices in the game. I don't know if it can be considered underrated but I surely never see people talking about it!

Wow, this brought me back. Some of these games I had and adored while others I remember seeing advertised and always wanted to play but never got around to. The DS was truly something special.

Final fantasy crystal chronicles ring of fates is a pretty under rated game

Drawn to life is my favorite game, but I have to wonder, have you played the Chronicle's of narnia the lion the witch and the wardrobe on ds?
I really loved Contact, I had so much fun playing it and even if the gameplay looks boring, it isn´t at all! I heavily recommend it. I would also add to the list Bangai-O Spirits. That was such a frenetic game lol

Luminous Arc 1 and 2 for you, 3rd one is Japanese only, but there might be a translation and Stella glow is the 4th game in this series for 3DS. and there are both Age of Empire and Mythology in that style. Deadest Pool mentioned the others.
Great video dude ! If i had to make a list, i would have included the inazuma eleven series (really underrated but great in gameplay and story-wise) and PMD Explorers of sky (the best pokemon game in my opinion, along with B&W 2)

Lock's Quest; I'll say it now and I'll forever sing its praises. I seriously love its world, gameplay, music and story
Sadly I live in a country where DS games never really took off and literally every store had at best the most sold titles, everything from Nintendo themselves and countless licence games and other cynical cash grabs for toddlers and their oblivious parents. And yes, that applies to retailers like Gamestop, too. Also me and my whole family were kinda suspicious about ordering anything from internet for a long time so that option was out of the table, too. Basically I had Pokemons, Marios and some lucky catches from abroad and some second hand stores.
And even despite that NDS remains as one of my favourite consoles to date, only really surpassed by it's successors

Nice video man and some good looking games I've never heard of - thanks! I loved my DS and still love my 3DS. It's quite a big profile game, but my shout for under-rated DS game (as it never seems to get in best of lists) is GTA Chinatown Wars. Just an amazing game and I spent FAR too much time drug dealing - fantastic game dynamic. :-)

Thank you for that list, and thank you for your common sense! Every time you see one of these lists, people add games like Chrono Trigger or Radiant Historia. Underrated is not underappreciated...or the common expression often used in gaming: hidden gem.

@@tomapple64 The japanese games series is not rare and really cheap and they are much worth it than Animal Crossing series, since they are just in Japanese.
AkumaPON Ipon well... the only one in West is one of the rarest ds games on the market. It would be a turn off for most people though

Phantasy star and dragons questions monsters joker would be my picks. I'm most impressed by largely generated areas, models of characters, and rpg elements.
I have Drawn to Life, Phantasy Star Zero and PokeMon Conquest. They really are underrated.
I'd add *Ragnarok DS* and *Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword* to the list as well.
Crash of the Titans DS was Seriously Underrated

Aaaaw the Wizard of OZ game was so good looking... The models were very good too😁 and Monster Joker was one of those games I always wanted to play...
I remember playing this DS game where a girl goes to an island and discovers something paranormal in the house.
The prologue starts with data reading and the girl is born on July 7, 1991. She was given a DS like device as a gift and using it is important to solve puzzles around the house like merging pictures to see a code and she also has 3 candies given to her by the captain of the boat they rented on the way to the island.
I really cant remember the game title but I loved it so much. Does anyone know what the title is?

There’s a ds light rpg game that came when i bought my ds it was about a girl who fought with a rope and a sword and she used to collect emeralds or gems and there’s a song at the beginning i don’t know if my explanation is enough please anyone know it?
