One thing to note about Knight Errant is that it's supposedly good against grindy match up with it's ability to draw, but in practice it just isn't. Grindy match up means removals, removals mean no creatures, no creatures mean no convoking, and no convoking is not drawing.
Im halfway through the video and i wanted to note something before I forget: bodyguard is a great 1 drop to play t1 agaist Izzet creativity, Rakdos midrange and Keruga fires. Being able to deny a stomp or volcanic spite is so good tempo wise. Putting in Thalia after really seals the deal.
These videos take a lot more prep (and frankly playing) than your run-of-the-mill deck tech and sideboard guides that I do on the channel. However, with the success of this video compared to a lot of stuff that I've done, I think I'm going to have a goal of doing one of these every other week or so. :)
First of all, I need to thank you for bring this content. It's a kind of thing that people need to know to stop doing things that holds their gameplay back. After this, I told you that I don't agree with the sideboard in and out concept and the good and bad matches that you said. I've been playing with White Humans since 2020 (when there's no Thalia or consistent building) and I don't think that Rakdos Sac or Green Devotion are bad matches. My gameplan is always use the velocity on my side. The turn 4 kill is a consistent line if your opponent doesn't interact with your board and this plan is enough to take you to a significant winrate, but with your options for sideboard you're slowing the curve down and making the deck less consistent in what it's build to do. In my opinion, the only kind of bad matches is the lifegain strategy, like Bogles, Angels or Vampires. Other matches are 50/50 (like midrange in general) or 60/40-70/30 (like control or pure combo decks). If you want to know my list and my sideboard options, contact me. Finaly, thak you again for the video and for show your experience!
Great video on mono W humans. What is your take on (Wx) or (Wxx) human decks? imo having additional colors, yes makes the mana base less consistent but it gives us more options like reflector mage and jirina.
Yeah I mean, the instant speed removal black gives you sort of shores upt he Greasefang matchup and reflector mage is better against the removal heavy decks. I'm a fan of consistency over building my decks in a spikey-nature, but I wouldn't think it was wrong if someone grinded with one of the splashes.
Soldier of the Pantheon or Skrelv is a good choice if we want to keep the one drop slot the same amount. I also think replacing with one of the flex slots is fine like a 3rd Brave or a Luminarch Aspirant. As far as Gideon in the board, if I didn't have access to him, I'd probably just play Rest in Peace for the Graveyard hate. If we still want to hedge against RB and Control decks then Extraction Specialist is the next best thing.
@@ryanbottingmtg alright! Thanks. I was waiting for this in depth video. Always learning a lot from you on sideboarding. It's always what to take out instead of what to bring in I'm usually confused in magic.
I beat it at the RC. I think its a dog in the mirror. I think the big thing with the Orzhov version is you are sacrificing consistency for instant speed removal and staying power. I've never worried about staying power with the deck since humans is super resilient so the big draw is instant speed removal. Humans is a bit unfavored against Greasefang so having access to that instant speed removal can shore up the matchup a bit. However, I don't think its worth it to reduce consistency of the deck.
@@tobi1396 Colored mana mostly. Turn 1 Grimclimb to play a Bloodsoaked Champion makes it hard to play Aedeline on 3. Any mutavault hand makes it much harder to curve out. etcetc.

Glad I could help!!
Nice video. What do you think regarding containment priest in sideboard? No need in this metagame? Thanks!
I'm not super interested in "get em" cards in a deck like this. I'd rather just turn them sideways and kill before my opponents get to do their thing.

Its relating it to the real life lightning rod that attracts lightning. Its basically saying that this creature is a magnet for removal spells.
