Well done! A few comments from a 2nd Gen Tacoma owner with similar a/c symptoms. The Schrader valves on the Tacoma have been problematic and should be replaced. Also, if a Tacoma owner hears a low-level boiling kettle sound when first starting the a/c and then it goes away after 30 secs or so, it's a sign of low refrigerant even though the a/c works fine. This sound is coming from TX Valve. My truck's a/c worked fine for over a year in this state. Next, if the low-level boiling kettle sound remains constant, your truck is telling you the refrigeratant is significantly low (you have days on the clock left). And finally, if the driver's side vents are noticeably cooler than the passenger side (while feeling warmer than usual), it's likely your last ride with a/c until remedied. I suspect in this case, the TX Valve was fine and did not need to be replaced. Cleaning the screen filter was obviously smart and a good future preventative measure, I did not do that and likely will be ok for a few more years. Replacing the Schrader valves is a must and be sure to get good sealing dust caps because my experience is that those valves continue to fail for some reason. Finally when recharging that system with 22oz of r134a, as you suggest, inject UV dye for the next leak that could very well be the compressor which is also known to go bad on these Tacoma's. Thanks for the video, I learned a good deal on how to replace the TX Valve if that becomes a future issue.
I just bought the Schrader valve core removal kit. It comes with TWO (2) valves for high side and TWO (2) valves for low side. Are they just giving you spares, or are there actually 4 Schrader valves on the Tacoma?
