This perfume is special to me. When I had 7 years old, i went on vacation trip with my family and friends to República Dominicana. While on the Aeroport, my mother bought me a box with miniatures of the best perfumes at the time, and the Polo Green came with it. Oh man... I remember, i used it on on that tropical summer warm night of República Dominicana, and 20 years later, i still remember that beautiful night and the smell of the perfume...
Fun times and fun read.
This is the best smelling cologne in my opinion. Woodsy, rich, leathery. Literally smells like money. But man is it strong. 1 or 2 sprays at most.
does it last all day
Last until the next day
The original formula was nice but I recently purchased a bottle and it's a shadow of its former self. Seriously bummed about that too.
Just bought a 16oz. Warner Lauren bottle from an individual for $15!!! 16oz!!! Unbelievable find!! Thrilled to have this legend in my collection. Great video and info. Thanks. Take care.
Good review. I started wearing this in 1980 in HS and still wear it today. I also wear a couple other scents which are more lemony for use during the summer as I live in Florida
Great video, just bought a Cosmair bottle - am looking forward to it! I thoroughly enjoyed the comparisons.
I have the Cosmair, love it. I also have the new reformulated versions and they are lighter on the birch tar. I love all my bottles but the Cosmair definitely has a higher quality.
Incredibly informative & interesting video, many thanks!
I have loved this fragrance since I was a kid. This is definitely the first fragrance that I loved. I have watched many reviews of the current formulation which is almost unrecognizable to my nose. This was a fantastic review and has helped me to locate the real deal. I think I will always associate this beautiful fragrance with what a man of sophistication should smell like! Thank you!
My pleasure. Thanks for watching and enjoy.
I guess this guy knows his fragrances, but I purchased a bottle of polo recently and I think it's awesome. The more it dries after you spray I can definitely smell the tobacco. I can smell it on my clothes up to two days or more with only two or three sprays. It definitely has a dominant piped tobacco smell when it dries.
this was so interesting. loved it. l reviewed a couple vintage frags and it gets the most interest. love your takes👍
As good now, in 2021 as it was in 1978. Nothing in it's class comes close. A masterpiece. It reminds me a bit of the original Herbissimo Mountain Juniper.
thanks man I like the fresh forest smell I never smell this ever.
Drove me crazy! Best fragrance ever
Honestly I’m a bit burned out on modern frags at the moment. Recently started getting into classics and this is a winner. It may not be the original formulation, but it’s a very original classic. This will be in my permanent cold weather rotation.
Great review..v composed..great green pilo
this is exactly what I was looking for
Excellent mate, cheers.
thanks a lot for information on reformulated classics
I recently bought a new bottle of Polo (Luxury Prodcucts LLC) , and it smells great especially on the dry down, and it projects like a beas and has longevity. I love it. I can't imagine what the Cosmair version was like since the current version is supposedly so weak and lame in comparison!
Same here! I have the same one, and it smells great to me. If what I have is the destroyed version fit for the garbage. I can only imagine what it smelled like before. The oakmoss being the most cited lack, I imagine the natural ingredient would smell superior. It generally does.
And I actually bought two Cosmair versions and I guess they were not stored properly. Because both had gone sour. I sold them and decided I would not chase the past and enjoy my current one.
Excellent review and I love how you described what has happened to this fragrance with recent formulations. Although I have never liked Polo fragrances (never a big fan of the Polo DNA) this one is a definitely a Classic, but it's a shame this one is no longer the fragrance it once was.
Thanks Jim.
Just picked up a new old stock Cosmair Polo RL gift set with shaving razor. I'm super stoked.
Thanks so much for this breakdown of the different formulations. Your dissertation prompted me to start my own search for an original bottle. After doing some research about both Warner and Cosmair it seems that Warner was purchased in 1984 and the President of Warner resigned in '85. I was seeking clarification about this because the bottle I found on ebay (which smells remarkable) on the bottom says "Warner Cosmetics a Division of Cosmair". This is peculiar to me but I can only surmise that this was an in between period from the purchase of Warner to full ownership by Cosmair. With that in mind I'm thinking I lucked into a bottle of the first formulation. In any case it's been a great nostalgic journey, thanks again!
My pleasure. It is a tweener bottle. If it smells brightly mentholated fresh at the top, probably leans Warner. Darker, denser, green leans Cosmair. Good find!
Great reviews and informative
Thank you.
The king of all scents the Masterpiece.
Great video my friend! Just got my hands on a vintage Polo.
Which one?
I believe the middle one. From the early 90's
Yeah hoss. Enjoy!
I've been wearing this for over 30 years 😊
Excellent presentation on Polo green. It is a tragety that nearly all of fragrances that were perfected have been ruined by reformulations - in the name of profits and excessive executive compensation showing that the market and demand does not work. Look what was done to Polo green, Pino Sylvestre, Kanon, Aqua Velva, and the Real Classic - Old Spice - all of which have been ruined by greed. I ask if you like to create a similar disertation on Caron, Pour un Homme, eau de toilete and after shave.
Thank You…what do You think about the made in Venezuela version of this? I acquired a bottle and both the box and bottle say made in Venezuela and it has about 6-7 ingredients similar to the Warner and maybe early Cosmair list…it is a splash and I got it from a well kept well to do family from Charleston South Carolina…never been used…thanks for Your input
My favorite fragrance of all time. I have been wearing Polo since I was 10 years old I'm now 35. So I'm familiar with all these formulations. I agree Cosmair Polo is the richest of the 3. The Polo on the department shelf is watered down and I get alot of the dreadred ISoE Super. On to my cosmair bottle I get a real life dry shredded tabacco pouch right in front of you mixed with the fresh pine needles. The juniper berries are fighting for attention the birch tar is like the blob that has these notes surrounded. The manly musk drydown is incredible. What kind of reactions from women/ girlfriend have you received while wearing your Polo ( Cosmair)? Loved the review just made my day.
Thank you. I get the musk only extremely late, like in the shower the next day, so it really wasnt worth mentioning to me. The billowing birch tar goes on and on, and its so smooth and rich. Love it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
In addition, my lady is indifferent to somewhat liking it. It depends upon the day. Unusual, considering shes very love/hate with what I own. I think if her father or someone in her family wore it, she would insist I not wear it. Lucky for her thats not the case. :)
Very nice!
where can I find the Vintage Polo Cologne made cosmair or Warner?
Good job. I have a bottle of the Warner and also the Cosmair and while both are excellent, my Warner seems a little more potent and is smoother. I think it's that menthol note that stands out. I love it. Can't go wrong with either, but I slightly prefer the Warner. Current one is ok if you forget about the previous releases.
The Warner to me is bigger at the start and settles in quick closer. The Cosmair is just a mushroom cloud that builds and builds. I've actually oversprayed the Cosmair (4 sprays) because its not huge at first to me but grows bigger after about 15 minutes. Big mistake. Nuked a restaurant.
@@fragreviews747 ah man lol. It was easy to do back then. Especially if u r a over sprayer !!
Excellent review! So sad that the current version seems not to be worthy of the name of this fragrance...
I have watched this video more times.
My current formulation of Polo Green is 2018 batch code. It's not most natural smell but it is ok. It has that Green smokiness. It's earthy. And incense scent. Watching your video I have felling that Cosmair version is similar to current formulation. But with higher quality. You mentioned " mentol " on Warner bottle. I don't feel any mentol at current formulation.
Best.
Does the Cosmair version have Spice ?
where can I buy vintage polo green that still smells good I can't find sold out Amazon haha :(
I just bought a Cosmair bottle on EBay, the batch code on the bottom of the bottle is GEW2 but I can’t seem to authenticate that number can anyone help out. Many Thanks and great video.
Well done! This remains my top pick of fragrance, and I began wearing it at age 16, at a coming of age in 1982. My best friend and I both wore it, and got noticed with smiles from the girls. It was a lady killer for sure! Over the years I have adopted other favorite constants, such as Paco Rabanne, Quorum, Drakkar, and on a lighter note Chrome. Polo green remains my favorite though the current rendition out there leaves me longing for the first two formulations, as the current does not hold a candle to the lower notes and staying power or the original. Can anyone share with me, what a fair price would be if I were to find the first or second formulation?
Hi if you can get a 4 oz. Cosmair bottle for under 50 dollars pull the trigger. The Warner is hard to find probably pay the same but the bottle will be 2oz.
very interesting!
Hi
Trump 2020
How to get the cosmair version????
I'm hoping someone can help me out. I am trying to purchase a bottle of vintage Polo. I found one but I am a little concerned. This product comes with a Cosmair era box. But, I do not see Cosmair on the bottle. Is this legit?
My bottle says polio aftershave
2 Fl ox 83% volumes 59 ml U.T.l.F 294ml
59 ml made in USA
Ralph Lauren fragrances
Cosmair inc dist New York by 10017
Parfumes Ralph Lauren Paris
What date would this bottle be please
If you had both a bottle of Warner Polo EDT Spray & Warner Liquid Splash After Shave. Could you tell the two apart from each other from scent only? Would other factors come into play like longevity & projection? I assume both would not perform the same...
I cant answer that. I personally dont own the aftershave. Sorry.
Dear frend can I I order this fragrance from Ebay. It's 240 ml sealed. Unboxed.
It's 100 dollars plus shipping charge.
What do I expect? I haven't had Polo green. Never.
Thanks
Found this info that may be interesting to know:
How to Accurately Date a Polo Green Bottle via Distributor
Warner/Lauren (or Warner Cosmetics/Lauren): 1978 to early 1983 (extremely rare, first generation).
Warner Cosmetics a Division of Cosmair (or Warner/Cosmair): Late 1983 to early 1985 (rare, second generation).
Cosmair Inc: Late 1985-1999 (common - went through five slight, but noticeable reformulations).
L’Oréal/AUX: 2000-2005 (more common; with additional reformulation).
Luxury Products LLC: 2006-Present (most common; with numerous additional reformulations, thus reducing this fragrance to a linear scent).
Thanku very much about the formulation
Just scored a 1978 Cosmair Cologne spray - how does this differ from the EDT? Thanks!
Well, Cosmair wasnt producing Polo in 1978, so if its Cosmair its from the 90s most likely. Similar to the EDT. I havent tested the cologne spray in a very long time. I remember it being nuclear to start then settling into the Polo Birch Tar / Oakmoss / Tobacco dry down. Either way, if its Cosmair Polo, its excellent.
Hi , the one I have found has a batch code of 7B054, made by Luxury Products Lic. Any idea when it's from and if ok? Thx mate.
I believe that batch is from 1985. Nice find 😁😁
Hi. I have a few bottles of Cosmair EDT. I just ordered the Cosmair “Cologne Spray.” Should I expect a difference between them? Thanks.
Where did you order that bottle cosmair polo green
The Paris version 'originally formulation' is the best
Hello there sir. I would like to say that i have this fragrance with 19 years old and i don't feel the modern chemicals on it, my bottle was manufactured in May 2020. It does have a small quantity of the birch tar, and a nice drydown, the opening is straight juniper berries. However, i have smelled a Luxury Products formula from the 2000's or 2010's that was a freaking birch tar monster.
My Polo is from 2018. It's probably like yours. I have all so Cosmair edition with 4 characters batch code from early 90's. I have seen the bottle from 2009.Does it have the same filling like current one? It's from Luxury Products.Or maybe it's like Cosmair?
I don't know when Luxury Products really have changed the scent.
In 2000?
Or after 2012?
Thanks mate
@@Polo-mt9rb The one you describe from 2009 surely has a different liquid content from the current. From early to mid decade of 2010's the liquid got finally reformulated and became the current version, which has a low atomizer and is extremely tamed down on the smoky leather note. It is from Luxury Products / L'Oreal but as i stated, i assume they reformulated once the fragrance when they started producing it but didn't change the product pretty much at all, and then they reformulated it once again more recently. I frankl want to get a Cosmair. I got a compliment once on a girl younger than me on modern formula Polo, however the Cosmair or vintage L'Oreal is just a freaking smoke monster with hair on chest. There can't be anything more macho smelling than that
The bottle from 2009 has huge atomizer. It's the same as Cosmair. Probably the juice incide is closer to Cosmair formula. I hope.
Thank you mate.
I will buy it. Thank you for helping me
Nice and complete deep review.

2x - You’re welcome!
I just picked up a splash bottle of Polo from Cosmair. After putting some into a small spray bottle I was surprised to see that the colour of the juice is green. REALLY green. The same colour as the bottle. In your experience, is that normal?
Yes. Not quite as dark as the glass, same shade though.
FragReviews it's wild. I have a bottle of oakmoss absolute, which unsurprisingly is the same vibrant green colour.
Wow , stop the press, I just found out that the production was 23-2-2005. So question is , would that be better that the current formulation? What I found is a tester that has been sitting on the shelf all that time, smells great!
Luxury Products is the current formula.
Ooh-de-twalet 😆
The video was off the chain I learned a lot about where can I find me a good bottle of polo green please for a good price contact me
My personal Bombay Sapphire.
when is the next installment of the dissertation series?
I've been sick the entire month of January. Possibly next month after 1 more individual review.
FragReviews I need help I need a good bottle of polo green
Agreed 100%... I use to love Polo made in 1978 but this new stuff is piss water... Ralph, I hope you're reading this!!
DOES anybody know where i could hunt down and find a vintage bottle of this juice? It single handily opened the door to the fragrance world as i know it today
I gave that information in the video. eBay and look for the label on the bottom of the bottle to say Cosmair Inc.
FragReviews found, currently bidding for a cosmair 2oz. There is a 4oz Cosmair going for bid at about $52 does that seem reasonable to you
I think $15/oz is a fair price.
I finally received a 5 mil vial of Polo (cosmair) today. I had been eagerly awaiting its arrival after hearing all the hype of how the original was better, etc. However, I was a little disappointed once I sprayed it on. Why? Well for one, It really brought back memories of late 1980's frat parties and even smelling this in the college class room. I remember this scent, and remember not really thinking it was all that great at the time. it was nothing that inspired me at the time to go out and get me a bottle. So 30 years later, I bought a bottle of the reformulation and I have to say i think i like the reformulation is better. It is just as masculine and rich, but more mellow and not as harsh.
I was mesmerized by the awsome reviews this had on one of the websites and I got it as a gift and I can’t stand the thing. Ugh, I hate it🤬
What's confusing that there is TWO Cosmair versions Cologne AND Eau De Toilette (NOT THE SAME! Decant the juice two different shades). To make it even more confusing the early Warner smelled different to me than the first Cosmair cologne version. Warner is more aromatic and fresh, Cosmair cologne is a sweet sappy pine, Cosmair EDT is more balanced and spicier - more clove I actually like Cosmairs EDT better because of the spice - however with the Cosmair EDT you loose the rich realistic piney sap top. BUT the campfire smoke makes up for the concentrated pine reduction. EDT is the mastered dna! What people fail to realize is the dna smells a lot like Aventus! Just switch the pineapple with pine.

They ruined Ralph Lauren Polo. I'm kinda pissed off about it. It has a powdery dry down on top of everything you mentioned.
Review shouldn’t be more than 4 minutes.. 18 minutes are enough for 10 articles
Thank you anyways
It would have been 5 min if he talked faster lol. Love this review tho
This cologne is very offensive to my nose. It has a strong metallic odor, with hints of sour milk, and cat piss. I am not kidding either.
Sounds like you got a fake, and believe me there are tons of them out there
Go and see a doctor lol
😂😂😂You have a nose problem😂😂😂
