You can be pretty confident with John that he would have never done a cover if he couldn't completely do it justice. He never did anything at less than spectacular level.

He is loved for good reason
I forced my 90 yr old mum to watch the doco. She had no idea of his struggles. Nor of his amazing octave range. I had her watch him & Anthony Warlow do Granada. Now she's incredibly more respectful of his talent and his kindness as a good man, husband, father, performer & mate to all his musical colleagues

Sorry, but I have to tell you that ... John Farnham and his band fantastically do AC/DC's version so well, if not better! I love the call and response part with the orchestra ( Melbourne Symphony Orchestra) and they remarked that they had never had so much fun as working with John in these concerts. The man on keytar is David Hirschfelder who has been in a number of bands and is also a film score composer and has won many Australian and International awards in that category. John only has the best in his band and always shows his appreciation and gives them their credit.

The reason why the rest of the world is behind the eight ball when it comes to John Farnham, is he chose family over international exposure. He is a consummate entertainer and a true gentleman, which is reflected in his commitment to his audience/fans.

You were almost correct, John did go to the States. However all the record labels rejected him because they had only ever heard him sing Sadie, and they didn't think he was a serious artist and they wouldn't even grant him an appointment.

My 80 year old bones are literally jumping to this. Love his songs, love his backing singers, love his band (Google them all, most amazing musical pedigrees of their own). And love the person that John is - Mr. Nice Guy, lots of charity concerts . . Interaction between Farnsey and fans? He loves them as much as they love him. They're just one big joyful, happy family. And the symphony orchestra - just wow. I play this every day, along with You're the Voice, and a selection of others videos . . John is my wake up and get ready for the day,, and he's my nightcap. A Farnsey concert was an experience not just a show , everyone in that venue (me being one of them) was involved, the Symphony orchestra his band made up of musicians who were all recognised masters of their craft the backing singers who had been with John for years and again individually great singers, and the audience were all singing , playing or dancing during that song which came at the end of a 2+hr concert spectacular,, it truly was a night to remember .

John regards It’s Long Way To The Top ( if you wanna rock n roll ) he’s favourite rock song . John is a massive AC/DC Bon Scott fan and John is aware that AC/DC doesn’t perform the song since Bon Scott passed away in 1980 , Brian Johnson doesn’t want to sing it out of respect , because it is Bon Scott’s signature song .
John has said he likes to keep the song alive within a live settings the song has been a stable since the late 80’s with most of John’s tours . John even recorded it because his recording company requested it for it to be a b side bonus track in 1988 . John said when he was ask by the recording company to record it he was very reluctant , he thought AC/DC is one of those band that you don’t never cover .
It’s A Long Way To The Top also was the major influence for John to add the bagpipe solo to You’re The Voice .
