When you drill the drain holes I suspect if you cover the holes with the plastic scotch bright knock off cleaning pads that most grocery stores sell would allow water to drain while acting as splash guard to help protect from road water.
I hear ya about the "forklift squirrels"! I have two certs and I've never squished anything. In a past job I once got a 100-gal tank back under "Warranty" that had a forklift tine punched through one side. No freebie for YOU! 🤣
Cut it twice and it still too short!😃 I am sure you and Abby will enjoy the trailer mods. I ordered one of the sewer hose tubes you showed on the video.
Make sense to have the equipment you need for setting up right to hand, especially if its outdoor/dirty to keep it from other indoor/cleaner items! Another great modification
Are you planning on welding a flat bar across the top since the lids seem to be able to be opened when pushed all the way back? Seems like the wind may catch it driving down the road and open them up.
Installed my set of full length drawers like this 2 years ago. Absolutely luv them. Keep all sewer fittings in small plastic boxes and the power cord w/ surge protector, inside the the drivers side. The other side I keep 2 patio carpets and the wheel chocks, x-chocks in that side. They do collect some water when it rains. Drill Drain holes in several locations inside the drawers. Very beefy and durable product. One thing to consider is the overall heigth. These are 10 .5 inches high so ground clearance is something to consider. Place them as close to the axles as possible to avoid scraping. Otherwise, a very good investment!
Great idea, you can never have too much storage. Considering the price of that system those boxes look awfully rough and basic! I'd weld a bar across the rails to keep the lid shut when pushed back and instead of the pins use a through axle with one large end and a padlock on the other.
My Keystone Outback 328RL needs that undercarriage storage solution. The model I have has very little storage room. I might try searching for one that is more impervious to water though. My outback does have its spare suspended from underneath. Those spare tires mounted on the bumpers can cause thousands in damage to fiberglass if you accidently back it into something. Thanks for the great suggestions and have a great Big Haul trip you and dear Abby.
I would have clamped it to the frame with an i beam clamp on both sides, add rubber window seal around the edge of that door and place a locking hitch bar on the opposite side of that where the lock pin is. I would also cover that lock pin with a door knob lockout to make it secure. Probably do it myself with a different drawer and slide but thanks for the video it got me thinking!
It will be interesting to see how these work when you are driving in the rain for a long time. Wonder how much water will get in them. Cool idea tho to free up your front storage box.
For the price they charge, it should be WAY better designed. They have a few huge misses on these. The lids should be designed to shed water, not funnel it into the box. Either the pins should be lockable, or the rails should be lockable to keep the bins from growing legs. (Seems like a notch in the edge of the bin with a lock thru the slide rail would work.) The boxes should have drain holes with baffles to let water out but not in. (Condensation or having them open in the rain). A- for the concept, C+ for execution.
worried that you might have a problem been a diesel Mechanic for 30 years and it it a major no no to drill the frame flanges u may want to check with your oem on this u can weld them
I like the idea but I don’t think I’d have excepted delivery on it due to the damage. I wonder if you could have weld something up of aluminum for not much more money.
@@kckettridge I just got some of those really tall ammo cans and welded tabs on to bolt it directly onto the frame. They are water tight and hold a lot.
What is up with shipping? I needed a new dishwasher. Ordered from Costco. First 2 were damaged in shipping. 2 out of 3 is not a good average! If you care at all about doing good work, it is not that hard to move stuff around without damaging it!
Almost 1K. I could probably make something which you already have my wheels thinking. Good idea for all the water/sewer stuff
Great to put all the dump hoses and parts
😀👍Great Tips
Great idea. I would be conscious of the lid staying closed when underway as the wind and vibration might allow them to pop open.
11:09 😂 “can I put some shoes in their?” No, this is a man space, not an extra closet for more shoes 😂
Adam, in the '60's-'70's those underbelly storage were called "opossum belly" cause you know opossums have a belly pouch to keep their tiny newborns.
They look very handy!

Nice solution for a little extra storage. Have a safe and happy trip, always learn a lot from your videos 👍👍
Sorry, I sound like I'm cheap, but I am retired. $900? With your ability, you could make something similar. Thanks for showing the install!
I’ve seen this product and thought it was great, but also agree it’s overpriced for what it is.
That’s a great mod. Perfect for hoses and cords. I think I’ll add that to my 5th wheel.
I like it. But you would think for the price, the bins would have a locking clasp and be a little more waterproof

Hopefully you got some kind of credit back on those bins! Love the system, it’s gonna free up so much storage space.
Thanks for the video, quite helpful. I've got the large storage boxes on the way. Don from Florida

some sort of stainless bar going across the whole unit bin and side steel with a lock to keep bins from walking away when your not around?

Pretty cool storage. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences with us.

Great job sir. Might try a couple of these on my bus conversion, could really use the extra space. Thanks for the video.....
Nice... hope you post a follow up

I'd cement nylon window screen over your holes in your box to keep bugs out.
NICE INSTALLATION !!!!!!!!!!

LOL! You Got Me right There 8:01
VERY NICE
Those hole will fit locks like a cabinet lock with a bar close and add foam around the edge
Have fun kids
This one could also be used besides the bigger model so you would have both under the trailer. More storage.
Can you share the purchase link for the drill bits? Excellent video.
I got them KBC Tools & Machinery. It's the Vortex drill set.
worried that you might have a problem been a diesel Mechanic for 30 years and it it a major no no to drill the frame flanges u may want to check with your oem on this u can weld them
this
Nice addition. How have they held up and is there anything you would have done differently. Wanting to install on my 22mle for more storage.
These work great! I’d like to upgrade to the larger version to give more storage.
@@AbomAdventures Any reason that you couldn't install the larger in addition to this set? Or is there not enough room under the rig for both?
Those are cool bits if they required sharpening would you just grind the angle or is there a special sharpener for them?
thanks for the video, thumbs up! After watching this i would never buy this expensive trash. 900 bucks and they dont even seal from dust or water.
The marker light on the right side has some water in it.

Why not put the xl one next to this one for more storage?
That’s what I may end u doing. I may have just enough room.
Really hot and humid there on this day
No way I would pay that kind of money for 2 little plastic bins.
Everything is overpriced today. It's ridiculous!!!

Drill a hole thru the front corner rail and tub machine a pin with hole in one end to install a lock for a little bit of security from theft?
are you going to be able to use both storage comparments?

I hope you received a credit from the company for the damage. 3:18
did you bolt the center bracket? or just on each end?
You need a magic creeper
Holes in it are gone to allow water to suck up in it going down road in rain will fill with water it will drain back out but will be soaked for sure
Do they come with a drain hole and you might want to zip tie the lead shut so it doesn’t flap in the wind
11:24
Where you going for the big haul?
👍🤓
How are you going to lock those storage boxes. Someone might want to steal your stuff.
Looks kind of flimsy
you looked baked.
I would try to get the company you bought them from to refund some money for the shipping damage.
As an RV tech, every time I hear Lippert I just cringe.
