You owe no explanation to anyone. You’re doing a great job. ❤
The internet has no shortage of know-it-alls trying to tell people how to live their lives. I know it's hard to ignore them. By the way, Betty is a very cute kitty.
Isn’t she the cutest!
I think most viewers completely overlook the fact that setting and resetting cameras is one of the most tedious aspects of doing all this. Nothing is ever done "just the once", even though the resulting edit makes it seem that way. Building, eating, hiking, and just doing whatever, requires a LOT of extra effort. And that's before the editing, music selection, packaging, etc, etc, etc. Just keep doing what you do...and on your own time. We'll be here.
This is why I invest in buying multiple "cameras" (I use phones) and tripods. A little longer to transfer and classify files, but saves tons of legwork... and you can have multiple angles of the same exact shot without having to redo it / fake a reaction 👍
Glad it's moving ahead. I can understand the filming and editing taking up a lot of your time. Your work has to be presentable and believable. That requires skill. No need to worry to much about how you look. God took care of that, but do worry about your health. You're right about relationships as a nomad. It takes a very similar soul to make that work. I'll be watching to see how it turns out. No need to make it like someone else's. We know you've done the research and have got the knowledge to move ahead. I can relate on the time thing. When I bought my last trailer to work on, I thought I'll have this done in a year. Two years later I take it out for its trial run. Discouragement is temporary. ;-)
I stumbled upon your channel a few months ago just because it showed upon my feed and honestly, I love your refreshing take on this lifestyle. It's not something I know anything about or would ever consider as being for me, but your honesty, your REALNESS, showing the highs and lows and just everything is so needed. Lots of people have videos out there showing off their stunning builds, their cozy little mobile spaces and that's great. That's their content style, but you aren't afraid of just showing us everything in the moment. Good and bad. You're a gem, Tory! Seriously, don't ever forget it. And don't worry about the comments, because the people complaining are just looking for some quick and easy content to absorb without having to put any real thought into it. They'll eventually have to realize that you're not a performing monkey here to cater to them, that you're not XYZ Van Builder #500. You are you and you have your own schedule, your own process and timeline. Do what works for you and your needs and let the complainers throw their tantrums, they're not worth wasting your energy on. ♥
Amen, I hope she finds your comment, it's fascinating to watch channels like this and the growth curve, people go through in a " Nomadic Life'' (not just the technical and mechanical aspects, but the emotional journey's they're willing to share can be even more important)
You don't owe anyone anything. Do your thing. As RUclipsrs we provide free, in-depth entertainment that is often better than paid TV or streaming services and some of the things people say in the comments are ludicrous and usually come from people who wouldn't even know who to edit a video of them talking to the camera 👍
I’m glad you’re back home with people who can support you and give you a hug every once in a while. Maybe I don’t get this RUclips thing, but I don’t think it’s anybody’s business how fast you go. Your videos are fun and interesting and not only that .... but you’re kind enough to share your journey with us.
Joyful blessings 🌻
Building a van is like building a house but smaller, of course it’s taking awhile. Don’t worry about mean comments they just wish they could be you 👍 😊
Pick a plan. Take your time. Do it right the first time. Measure multiple times. Execute the plan. But most of all...have fun
It’s nothing like building a house
❤❤❤❤❤
Don't worry, you're not alone. I am too taking a while to finish my build. It has literally taken me three years to get it where it is right now. And still not done.💯
And I too am still stuck in Vegas. 😢😢😢
It's never done. Always something to add or change or do differently. Solar and power upgrades are probably the biggest thing to change regularly. People want more power or lighter weight or bigger solar panels, or panels that flex, mppt controlers, 9bb or 10bb or 12 bb panels or half cut crystals, etc. Power is a huge key and it is always changing. Lots of competition out there. Look at AC. You can go 12 volt, roof top, little mini thingies, or mini splits, portable, window units, etc. You are never done, especially when technology changes and people want it
@rongreen7308 so true. I was definitely not doing good with just two hundred Amp batteries. I'm doing better with the 300 AMp , but I really still need more.
All good stuff take it at your own pace
Haters will hate. I enjoy watching the build from a real person with real challenges. Keep doing your thang. LOL at the "Does my stomach look fat" comment.....not even close.
Tory, there's an old saying you probably heard, "all good things take time". There's no need to rush your project, especially when you have the time. Ignore all the non knowing people, that have no idea what it takes to do what you are doing. I appreciate your video's, I have never accomplished anything like you are doing and I'm old. Keep up the good work and thank you.
don't let people bad comments hold you back. your awesome and never let anyone tell you different and never think you don't look good your perfect as you are
Your client is adorable, good luck on your van build
Welcome back home to PA! Good luck on getting everything completed. Having your dreams and making them a reality is a difficult task, but you got this.
I am an avid RVer. I have many amenities in mine. I even suggested one to you. But you just amaze me. Your thought process and decision making is way better than I would have thought of. Take all the time you need to do the research and make the informed decisions. Like you had said there are many out there with their own opinions but lack the knowledge you have gained through trial and error. That takes time. So far you can be proud of what you achieved with this build. Can wait to see the rest.
People posting hate comments about how you haven't built enough while sitting at their desks in comfy A/C having built zero percent of a van. Sheesh. Give a gal a break. Also, I can't believe so many people have been so comfortable blatantly lying to you. Thank you for explaining the realities of the process. Good luck with the rest of your build!!
BETTY ❤I use the Tractive GPS for Merri. No more 4-day escapades!!
Anyone giving you grief for being slow or any reason cannot be friends with me
It’s all enjoyable Tory
Don’t soak in negativity, just bin it
Your tummy always looks like all of you , gorgeous ❤
We just got our empty cargo van last week! Fully expecting a 3-year conversion and you're one of the people who inspired our journey. You do you and stay strong.
You're doing amazing! I never thought about what style decision to make. That would be so hard! Whatever it will look wonderful.
You’re doing great don’t let the ones sitting behind a desk tell you anything different!!
You're a very busy lady. Shame on the people who judge you for not having your home completed yet. I wish you didn't have to be in extreme heat to work on your van. I live in Texas, so I understand the heat challenges. Please be sure to take care of yourself and rest when you can. Your kitty is adorable. I'm a cat mom, too.
We can definitely do that
Take as long as you need. You're doing great. I'm a 55yr old ex builder and I've done 2 van builds and they take a crazy amount of time, so chin up and keep crackin' on!!
Tory, Your amazing. Period. I'm 60 and If I were your Dad I would be so proud. I have a Daughter that is force of nature just as you are. Stay safe and stay true to yourself.
Get it girl! Chin up, don't listen to any losers!
Tory you don’t have to explain yourself or anything you are doing this is your life and we’re just enjoying coming along to see what/where is happening next a very active fan💞💞💞💞💞
Congratulations on getting some scraps of time you can devote to your van build. No doubts, you'll have some fun now.
I know the pain trying to build out while livin' in.
Hang tough and...
👍 Rock on 🙂.
PS:
It's real handy to have a fridge, freezer on the passenger side over laping the slider. Store purchases can go directly in from the shopping cart 🥑.
Don't sweat it. I'm still half finished with my build 4 years in. And I might be starting a new build before I even finish this one.
This is YOUR van, YOUR build, and YOUR life. We’re just along for the ride. So thank you 😊
You take all the time you need, and don’t make excuses for anyone.
Also, I’d like to recommend the LOTR door, because “Speak friend and enter”
Only friends can enter 😊
It's all about the journey, it doesn't matter how long it takes to build, you will get there in the end. We all appreciate your camera angles and shots and light sabers :)
Tory was not born yesterday and is getting some advice. Always prototype the first "go around" making everything changeable, because you will want to change stuff after using it a while. It will take several iterations because everything looks good on paper. Contrary to 99 percent of van builders the floor goes in last in pieces that can be lifted up. This way the floor cavity can be aired out when it gets wet. Not 'if' it gets wet. As you well know, one can stay in a van 'as is' without all of the crap everyone thinks one needs.
Take your time do it right, like the song. I have had my van for one year, and I am just barley finishing the insulation. It better to go nice and slow if time is not a issue, and pay more attention to details.
Betty is such a princess ❤(love your cat)
Love seeing You and your videos.
Your viewpoints and personality are incredible.
A relationship means accepting the other person for who they are, in all aspects of them being them. It is the commitment to each other that is most important.
You definitely have a new energy since you got home and don’t worry about what other people say. They are not building this van for you or even helping. I’m just happy to be here for this entire build from scratch. Have a fabulous day Tory 😃
You're doing fine as long as you are happy that should be all that matters .
Well yeah, anybody can just throw a few things together and call it good. You're working on a masterpiece and you can't rush perfection. I'm excited to see the outcome but I'm enjoying what feels like the behind the scenes of a true van build. Take all the time you need, a lot of us are very satisfied with the pace. A lotta van lifers come and go and I truly believe a lot of that has to do with lack of planning so I'm happy to see how meticulously you're doing this because I hope to follow your journey for years to come.
I'm happy to see you getting down to it and enjoying yourself. I understand. Great job!
Im like you on so many levels, whatever youre doing and how "long" it takes, im here for it!
Hi Tory. Good to see you home and building again. Doesn't matter what the time frame of your build or completion is, It's just good to see progress. For your own mental wellness. Your Cat! Holy cuteness. She is a sweety. Really enjoyed this video. Good luck with everything and take care.
Glad you are back home. Don’t let negative comments deter you. It’s your story to tell. ❤
OMG that is one cute cat! Betty is a diva... love it. Beautiful.
Betty ❤️ Love her
Best of luck with the build and may all your travels be safe. All of us are with you always!
That cat looks like a celebrity ...is that the kibbles and bits cat?...😅
She’s a star for sure! I got her from where Taylor Swift got her cat for the “ME!” Music video! :)
You Do A Great Job On Building Your Van 🚐 Tory.
Tory! Good to see you made it out the desert ! I really appreciate how honest and real you are in these videos. I really admire your ambition and drive. You’re very inspirational to me as I begin my van build.
I think you’re doing an incredible job with all the stress you put upon yourself. Love watching your videos
Brilliant as always 💚 You seem much more relaxed and determined to get things done. I'm so happy and excited for you. Set your own pace live your Adventure your way... Have a Favorite weekend 💚🤟
Thanks for sharing Tory! I love how realistic you are, and always the sweetest person 🌸 really glad you have a hospitable space to make this happen now. Ignore the haters - no one is living your life but you! How magical 💫
What an adorable kitty!!!!
please keep it pg-13
Building a van is a lot of work! I’m a year and a half into my build and though it’s not done, I feel comforted by my incremental progress. You’ve got this.
Don’t worry about other people’s time lines. Yours is the only one that matters. Your kitty is beautiful. Do your build the way you are most comfortable. It will be beautiful ❤
Tory my vote is for the hobbit hole design!!!!
The door is a great idea😊
You already have a sword🤔.
Perfect fit. LOTR for the win.👍😎
I love your van build 🤩 And learn a lot from it 👍
I think you do a great job and anyone who’s ever done anything like this understands what you go through and that’s without making a video to share with all of us just keep rocking
Your amazing! Screw the haters!
You're amazingly detailed with your work. Very impressed. Keep being you.
I don't care how long it takes you to build the van or make the videos or anything. Take as long as you need, take care of your body and your mind, I'll follow along on your journey no matter how long it takes or where it goes. I'm here for YOU!!!
Nice job. No stress. Aiming at something is not a bad idea and do it in your own way and time. Who cares what others think.
I really don't think it's anyone's business how long it takes you to build out the van. I mean, it's your van and let's face it, we're all watching you because of the adventure and your personal story, not the van. You're amazing, keep being you. 😁
I know it doesn’t mean much but I think you’re doing an awesome and I look forward to your videos every week. Keep up the good work.
Don't worry about the comment section dorks. The great thing about your channel is that it's authentic. Living in the vehicle you're working on is rough. I have been living in my bus while building it for two years now. I can only really work on it when I'm not working a job. So when I travel during the season changes, I do a few big projects before I have to start working again. A week ago I finally installed my ceiling while camping on top of a mountain in Oregon. Today I installed some wall panels on the bathroom while living in a van down by the river... I don't dare try and film any of this! Just keep doing you and don't let yourself fall into the negative trap. ✌️
Honey, I would never say anything like some people have said!😢
If people are actually watching, they would SEE how hard you work!!!😮😮😮
Building your own van is huge transformation building it all on your own it's amazing achievement that you have forever ,don't let negative people bring you down especially those who wouldn't have the ball's to do want your doing I'm so glad I stumbled upon your RUclips channel as I'm learning alot before I start my own adventures here in Australia can't wait to see how more videos on how far your van build is coming along all the best m8 .😍
I think you're doing great and I always look forward to your videos... Well done.
You ARE winning. Winning for real takes longer than people like to think, so impatient children (with no stake in the project, no skin in the game) will bitch online. I know it's hard, but ignore them as much as you can. (And your stomach looks fine :)
ETA: Love the video. Keep on keeping it real. Respect.
You are doing fantastically, I am looking forward to the finished result 🎉
Don't rush your build. Let it happen organically. My build project has taken 2 years 3months to date and looking at another 2.5-3years to finish. Take your time and think about it pragmatically. You will be glad you did.
Takes as long as it takes. In the end, the only person building it is you, with your vision, your money, and your own skill. I know for myself I'll be somewhat living while building, so it's nice to see more realistic approach than someone who had a lot of help and money have their perfect van done in like a month. As you said, there's a lot of "experts" with advice.
Anyways, good video, and good luck on the build. Love what you've done so far. 😊
Builders dress sense has really improved over the years! Fabulous!
Wow, nice work. You're super charged in this video. Partially agree with your comment about relationships in a nomadic lifestyle. You can't do it all alone.
I truly understand why your van takes a lot of time to build. It's because I'm rebuilding a pickup truck and it is going into month number 4. This is different, but similar, as you can't build 24 / 7. I'm impressed by what you already did. Keep following your dream and you will succeed.
A really good video Tory, I may have been judgy previously on the way you did certain things, But you are right, its not an exact science , no one knows the 100% right way to do every little thing, you just do your best ,with what you have..you abviously are an intelligent young woman, who does her homework, and i will not be judgy of you again...keep up the good work 🌹
You Rock Tory...Keep doing what your doing!!!
Your cat is so cute! You should include her in your videos more often. 😃😃
Don't take criticisms to heart, most commentators are trolls. Until you have taken on a construction like your's, they have no idea the struggles and balance between living and paying for life over building a home.
Don't take what the haters say to heart. Take your time because if you rush....you may screw it up. So go at your own pace. You got this!
I've been living in my van for Four years and yet not even close enough to be finished.
Take as much time as you need , it will be that much better !
You are doing awesome! Don't let the hate get to you. Haters going to hate.
Tory, allow yourself human grace. I wait eagerly for your videos. Why it takes so long, is just part of the experience. Be gentle with yourself. You provide inspiration and humanness to all of this. Thank you.
Tory ,this is Ron Moore, love your videos as always. Im a transporter for 15 years now. Taking my time with everything I do even hauling rvzz. I dont get in a hurry to do anyttjing unless its maitenance on my pulling trukk,,, or something that needs immediate attention on my trukk.Im definitely getting a van soon like you ,,, but I'll keep working even tho I'll have me a lil house on wheels like you😂
I love your videos! Take your time and Enjoy the journey.
Don't let anyone tell you how to do it. You do at your own pace. You outfit is great 👍🌹
Love your cat . 😺
You are doing a great job, and enjoy your vlogs, you are very gifted 🙂
I like you just the way you are ❤
Good job! Looks like a lot of work!
lessons you've taught me. 1. enjoy the process 2. the process is hard 3. wait there was a process? 4. heat is not your friend unless its winter. 5. water containment is critical. 6. moisture is never good 7. marine products work well in vans. 8. building is tricky. 9. listen to the electrician and plumber 10 follow your own instincts. 11. think outside in not inside out. 12. space really is the final frountier.
love your video series and the podcasts and most importantly your Patreon. keep looking ahead, and filming 3 angles. i think im going to need more cameras...
G'day. Living your life your way. Life's a journey not a destination. Stay safe & enjoy the road 👋🕊
Hello… First I want to say I find your videos incredibly informative and truly appreciate your detail and truthfulness. Integrity is much more valuable to me then content creation. I understand you are incredibly busy and do not expect a response anytime soon. I am an older guy who is going to be going thru a serious life change event and wanted to get a general take from you. Being approximately 4 years from retiring is it to overwhelming to try van life? I am in reasonably good health. I am looking for a change and would like to explore options. I guess I just want to get your general thoughts because you always give not only your opinion but many times there is a deeper well thought out opinion which I value. And if no response that is okay I still love watching you4 videos. Thank You… Mike
Watching your videos is getting me thinking of moving up from my Pruis, I live an adventurous life, and to have all my outdoor gear would be great.
Good luck & 🍀 all the best Tory 👍⚾️😘
I say take as long as you need so it comes out as you have dreamed it!
Well done. I love your channel
You’re doing great! Remember slow and steady wins the race
I randomly got suggested your channel when you was in Louisville Ky, at the derby. I'm guessing because I'm born and raised in Louisville. But I've been subscribed and invested every since. And from my perspective you have been and are doing amazing and going at a perfectly fine pace. Its your channel, your van, your build, your life and your speed at the end of the day. So sorry to sound harsh but fuck anyone that thinks different. Keep doin you and I know I'm here for it.
Dont let people get you down. I wish you had better cooling, but its your videoseries and journey. Your doing fine.
Ah! I see now.. I just comment on a different video asking why haven’t you done a build yet. lol!
There is no level of satisfaction doing your own van build.
You're doing awesome 👍. As for relationship advice, having a partner who has a Van and living nomadic for a period of time is a must if looking for a partner.
Besides that Sis; just enjoy the freedom and the adventures while you still can.
Just like you said everyone lies so just take what makes sense and take Your time
