I found that when you leave and drive away, the price comes down quickly. However, if the advertised price was $38k and he's asking $50k, that's not the kind of company I would do business with. They would lose my business as soon as they presented a higher price than what they advertised. I don't like crap like that.
They assumed she was uninformed, I'm sure that the actual price was $39,000, but I bet they also threw a huge/massively profitable 3-5yr extended warranty and and then sales tax. 16k miles on that Ram and $39K website listing, I not only wouldn't have paid anything more, but they almost always put the VIN, screenshot and assuring them that you'll follow up with every agency and media platform to ensure that the right people are aware of their tactics. I would have offered KBB dealer estimated regional value minus $2000 for the damage to the front end, or I'd be willing to pay asking if they threw in a 50k mile bumper to bumper + 100k power train warranty.
Really frustrating to see people get taken advantage of...
As a cabinet contractor in northern BC Canada I have been using vans for the last 35 years in my business. When the new AWD Transit became an option at the end of my Ram lease I did a test drive and was sold on it for many reasons. The AWD and the ease of driving it sold me mostly, but I had previously owned a AWD Ford Aurostar and put over 300 thousands KM on it before hitting three deer with few costs to run it. The rust on the 3 year old Ram and transmissions problems I had delt with pushed me to look at all three again . The 4x4 sprinter I had before the Ram was good but very expensive to own and also rusted like the Ram. Ford never had a AWD van since the Aurostar was discontinued, so when the Transit was introduced with AWD I knew I would have to test it. Three years later with not one issue, no rust and low cost to run, I have decide to buy out the lease and convert it. I'm considering doing it on RUclips and will be watching your work for tips and tricks. Thanks for sharing your journey.
WOW! Congratulations! Looking forward to seeing you build this out! I also am excited about the dozens of possibilities where you can build a small nook to store your new personal flotation devices for you and your sisters future paddle boarding adventures! This is great!!!! So happy for you :)
When the guy raised the price you should have the told the p.o.s. to shove it were the sun don't shine and walked out. You can buy a new one for that price. The new car lots are full of these vans. In jersey you can buy a 2023 hightop 159 wb for list 53,000 with discounts and a 5 year warranty on the lot ready to go.😍😍😍
Welcome to Day 1 of a Fantastic Adventure looking forward to day 2! 💚🤟
Hi Tory, Ive been checking for an update daily. Can't wait to see your new home on wheels.
Thank you SO MUCH!! :) I have been waiting for this day for a long while! This was actually only filmed YESTERDAY! I am so excited to share it!
Yay! I recently went through the same process (deciding on a promaster, buying a promaster, arguing with progressive, small buyers remorse, etc.). So excited to be building along with you ❤
congratulations with your new van, i hope the build goes smooth and I hope to see the build videos
Looking forward to your new build. Once it is complete, I hope to see you on the road.
Congratulations, Tory. For mostly the same reason you listed, I'd also have gone with the Promaster. Can't wait to see the build progress.
Congratulations on the new van. I had a feeling that other van was going to fall through. Too many red flags with that women. You went with the right choice. So excited to follow along and see this build from day 1. Have a fabulous day Tory 😃
Very excited to see how you convert this new van. Congratulations!
so excited to see your new journey.
Hi Tory
Just added as a Subscriber as I follow a few van lifers whereas we are strictly van holidays only. With your new van and your safety video, there are a few things which I think you missed or which may have changed. I noted that you mentioned security or anti bandit film but there are several levels of this right up to being bomb proof and making access through glass as difficult as a metal panel. The one you missed was to have panic buttons that activates a siren and strobe on the outside and inside of the van, one button for each. These draw attention and panic people even in remote locations (120dB+) They run on 12V systems and are inexpensive, mount one or more under the van. A couple of bright strobes inside a van can make it difficult for bad actors (not the stage kind) to function.
I doing think you should have buyers remorse but I know they could have gone 100% on the warranty and done a tank of gas. Within their costing they will have priced fixing all the dents. You have to look at the market in more detail, not just what are the prices but how are they selling and how are interest rates and market direction. The final point is low mileage in a van is not necessarily a good thing a 2 year old van done 20000 could be far more worn than a similar van with 60000 the lower mileage van probably did stop start city deliveries, more wear on clutch, brakes, gears and suspension. The high mileage van probably did long highway runs with a warm engine and very few stop starts. Engines running highway miles can do 250k easily.
She has it all, stay strong boys
Cheers brah you too 🤙🤙
Gorgeous! Strong! Financial Planner? #van life!
@@josephjuno9555 yeah, sure, thats it xD
Stop with these nonsense, child.
We must say focused brothers m, we must say focused
Congrats on your New Van. Have use have many of good years together and happy times ,🌋
Hey Tory, the front wheel drive will give you good traction. When a 4x4 driver needs extra traction they engage front wheel drive. The weight of the engine over the wheels is what creates the traction. Good choice of vehicle.
Yes! I just made a purchase for a conversion on a pro master and I’m also looking forward to the build. Tory your videos are inspiring. I’m going to be making this build for someone else and hopefully this will be the beginning of a prosperous business for me here in Washington state.
So excited to see this build come to life 🌞
I love that new car feel!😊Congrats!
Omg I need a handbook for the recently deceased😱😍
love it Tory1 great vid and you are such a brilliant video presenter!
Tory, just an idea. The separation from the cockpit to the rest of the van should be the commercial barrier so it doesn’t look like you’re living in it. Excited to follow through your build so I can start mine.
You better get building I need more of your content. No matter what happens. Don’t give up. I think you’re going to be big here.
Congratulations on your new home! Look forward in following your build.
Thank you so much!!
I wish you all the best in your building your new van 😊
Congrats on your new home on wheels! 🚐
Congrats on the new van!!
Thanks Aus!
I love your channel and your personality! ❤ from Portugal
Thanks. Informative.
congratulations! A very wise choice, enjoy the van!
Thank you so much!!
Thank you this was so helpful about insurance.
I am so, so glad!
I won't be able to afford a van any time soon, unfortunately, but a lot of YTers helped me realize that I will be just fine living #SUVlife lol. I cant wait. Hopefully by next summer!!
Congratulations, Tory! I have been watching your videos out of order.
I am very much enjoying your your videos. I like how you are not playing for the camera, you are just being you.
I like the idea of going to new places and seeing the beautiful scenery of new Walmarts 😉. Unfortunately, I have a lot of medical issues and I get lost all the time. I would have to invest a lot of money into bread crumbs.
I am curious, why didn't you buy that van your mom was looking at? It literally has everything
Hope all is well and you are a happy camper 🙂❤️
Good video and congratulations! Remember to keep your head high when expectations meet reality and they don't get along!
Absolutely, great advice, thank you!!
I can’t wait to see you how that van turns out when you’re finished
🥹 so happy for you!
Congratulations on your new van Tory, the first episode starts with a bang - dose of fun and drama, this is going to be the best van build series on the internet. Lots of love ❤️
Oh my goodness! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! ☺️☺️🎉
I've been following you a while had to go back to this video of buying your van. I've been looking around a long time also. Got it narrowed down to a couple of vans in ky Ohio area wish me luck
that's awesome congrats I've been car camping this month.
Sounds interesting young lady, I will be following the build with excitement, all the best Paul from the UK.
Thank you so much! :)
Love watching and seeing your travels
Thank you so much!
@@ToryDelury can’t wait for the building videos
Can't wait for you to get started building on your van
Oh my gosh, thank you! Me too! I have so much work to do for my job right now but all I want to do is build 😅 It is taking physical energy to not just jump up & start right now!! LOL
The Delorean model car is attached to the dash. Oh, and the Taylor Swift stickers. I guess that makes ownership official.
Hope you have many years and many miles ahead in your new home. 👍 🤩 🚐
I had Statefarm and found out the same thing with them that you had with progressive. I went with Roamly since I'm not fulltime. Just be aware that Statefarm may not cover if in an accident.
Alright! The wait is over!!! Congratulations, Tory!
YESSS!!! Thank you so much!!
@@ToryDeluryI'm so curious as to which part the West Coast you will be building your van in. I've seen some significant reductions in labor and material costs in big cities, but don't know if the hassle and cost of big city life is worth it.
Was watching another channel, couple went from Chili to Argentina i believe and stayed in a well lit park/town center. After dark and bedtime someone tried to break into there van, they were both terrified the man actually screamed loud as he could he stated(kinda strange?). Although they used a metal object attempting to gain entry, the window shattered but did not break as they had security film installed. Never even knew it existed, worth looking into. Promaster's weak link is it's transmission(ask me how i know). Avoid jerking from reverse to forward, especially if you become stuck off road. Congrats on the new van!
Every vehicles "weak link" is the tranny, no matter how well built; it's the heat that does it, i.e. always get a tranny cooler if not stocked from the OEM.
Awesome, glad i found your channel.
I'm from South Africa and here we don't get the Ram Promaster but the Fiat Ducato. I'm planning next year to buy a h2l2 Ducato.
Will be interesting to see how your van build will turnout.
I've started working on my designs and the layout, at the back i will have a bed that goes up and down and then you will have your 4 seater dining table under the bed when lifted. (NO Garage), the sink and gas stove will be at the sliding door and at the back of the driver's seat you will have your Shower/toilet and then next to it your small wardrobe.
Top of the roof i'm going to build my own roof rack where i want 2x300w solar panels and then on a sliding mechanism under those panels another 2x300w solar panels that slide out when you at camping or park somewhere. (The Sliding side will be on the sliding doors side of the van)
Anyway good luck with the build, looking forward to see the progress.
Hey Tory, Awesome Video! ❣
What product & color is on your nails, so pretty ✨🙌🏻💖
good video, good info
Congratulations on the new van! How exciting to start turning your dreams into your new home.
You did good!!
You could also use a window film that prevents the window being broken into.
Awesome ❤
Congrats on the new van Tori! I probably would have also chosen Ram, except when I test drove it, for some reason the seats did NOT accommodate my short height, no matter what adjusting I did! I fit the Ford transit 😂 I'm 5'2"
What seat was in the promaster you looked at? 4 way or 6 way adjustable , other. My wife is also 5’2” and seats are a concern I have. Hopefully test driving one this coming weekend.
If u add sear swivels it raises the seat height! I'm 6' and with the seats in Promaster we're a little lower?
@josephjuno9555 you think the promaster was lower? I thought the opposite! I couldn't reach the pedals without straining even with everything on ahortest setting 😂 so I know once I add swivels it would be even worse!
@@KevinM-ov3qr4 way manual, I think a 2018 promaster. Also depends on her legs/torso ratio! Could be different for her
11:40 Good video. I noticed your dome lights have remained on for a long time during the video, electrical problems already? lol.
Like your tip on van life mistakes
Lol Glad I could make helpful mistakes for the next person trying out vanlife 😅👌🏼
The Dodge Pro Master is really a Fiat. Chrysler stopped making an American van back in the early 2000s.
First design 2 electrical 3 pluming
Missile launch button is a must have option 😊
TD, HAhahaha. You have the guidebook from 'Beetlejuice'! I just saw that movie in the theater a few months ago. This place shows classic movies every Sunday. This weekend is 'Casablanca' with Humphrey Bogart. I think I am going to go with a Chevy Express 25/3500 RWD and long wheelbase of 155 inches. 'G' has to be the 8th character in the VIN. It is the better of the engine choices 'L96' engine code. I might get a highroof installed on the top, but I know I want solar as well. Maybe....a 4wd conversion done to it. Some, not all, of these vans came factory with a 'G80' rear locking differential. I hope you have a great life in your van and in your travels.
I would’ve went with the Ford cause of the all wheel drive factor. Good for snow and rain driving. I definitely will not go with a white one as well.
Great sunglasses for you. And get a Ford. Oh well, great choice cuz you wont have to worry about the height too much. Congrats and good luck!
I bought a Nissan NV2500. They stopped making them in 2021, but the shape and quality was the best! I had 53,000 miles and paid $37,000
Hi Tory it's Tony congratulations on your new house may I make a suggestion weight it empty so you know how much weight you putting into it once you finish your build plus water fresh gray and black and as far as the windows are concerned they might be tempted but you can still see inside Walmart and Auto parts sell mylar it's a window tint you can see out but they can't see in good luck to you sweetie you're in my prayers have a good evening and pleasant dreams and of course I'll see you in the next video
The listing online is what they should b honouring. Best thing to do is leave. Shows them you're not desperate. They need your money more. There's always another van and another deal. Great video.
I purchased a Ford Transit 150 two months ago and the upfitting has been the absolute death of me. It's not easy trying to keep these pets cool. Good thing I have my Waggle temperature and humidity monitor.
Hello! I am also thinking of a ford and have pets, is insulation not enough??😅
Congratulations 🥳 hopefully it isn’t a lemon 🍋 What are those vans new?
Keep you for right after dinner 😎🌸
I can’t believe how much these vans have gone up! I bought the same van brand new, 26miles only in 2020 for $36k including the interest. I’m so glad I bought the van before inflation.
i know right! I paid. 29k for a 2019 transit mid roof new with 3% loan.
there are special film that you can put over the windows that keeps the windows from being broken in to.
Good luck 🌹
Thank you! 😃
At 6'4" Transit is my choice. I tow a jeep on a trailer and the Transit has the most ability to tow. Most of my friends are using Promasters and they spend a lot of time off pavement.
Really looking forward to your build. 👍
what kind of problems have your friends had with promasters? I read a LOT of really bad reviews, but they all seemed to be focused on the 2018. Any insight would be appreciated as I'm shopping now for a van. Leaning towards the Ford Transit.
@@MamaBearTravel transmission and coolant leaks. Engine failures around 120k.
@MamaBearTravel the RUclips channel "One AdVANture At a time" has a 2017 that they boondock full time in. They have made several videos about the problems with their Promaster.
They are good people.
@@Scrambler85 Thank you so much! I looked at a 2020 Promaster that looked promising, but I just couldn't get past all the negative info I found online. I couldn't find anything specific to the 2020, but still.... Also, Linnea and Akela on RUclips had similar issues! Also, I will definitely check them out. I also follow them, but I'll have to review their Promaster issues for sure.
Think how many subscribers you'd get if you moved into that Corvette convertible they had on the showroom floor!
Find a 3M Master tint installer. They can install 3M Security Shield, a clear Lexan tint, on your windows. TV nooze and camera vans install this, because you literally cannot smash the glass to get in. (Or out.)
You need to pulverize the entire window with a bat, and then pull the entire mass out of the frame, to get through it. Not your average cosmetic tint. Used in commercial show windows, to contain any bomb or riot damage!
Going to wait for the EDV from Rivian or a smaller version of the Tesla Semi or Tesla Cybervan. Personal opinion.
I bought a 136 wb Promaster HR..It looked HUGE! I love my van but I wish I had the 159" that extra space wud be so much better? I wud not want the XL Long though, it wud be harder to park. It is So Fun turning in such tite circles? @ very maneuverable
I love watching van builds so, here I am.......
& I love building vans! I've got you covered LOL
The way you held your hand to mimic a phone made me yell "hey a millennial!" 😂😂
if it's going to take you 6 months or more to build and less mileage ask your insurer if they have low-mileage discounts they can give you and there are other breaks you can ask for
Will you be putting in a wood burning camp stove in the new build? Good luck on this new adventure. Van looks awesome.
I don't think that's a good idea.
You definitely made the right decision, can get a 23 Sprinter 170 ext for 65k
Well I commented too early 😢
I’m happy for you! Your video validates my decision to also buy a Pro Master van, which I’m doing this Friday! It’s already modestly built out. I plan on taking it on a few small “trial run” trips to see what I want to improve on. Look forward to more of your content and journey with your new van 😊.
I Required Rear and Pass side window And made him adx back-up camera to make it safer a d easier to drive. I want full time rear camera becuz we have that Huge Blind spot behind the doors.
I have a 2014 Promaster; I wish seat was ittle lower for opposite reason? I am almost eye level with from front visor ? I love the shelter and "pizza oven" over our cabs but kinda obstructs our veiw of the Fall colors or Mtns? I Love mine, I just wish I had 159" instead of 136" but I don't tell her that? I wudnt want to hurt "Vanessa's" fellongs? She is sensitive about being a Big girl?
You walk into the dealership and give them the features and price you want to pay and they will choose to meet your demands or you walk no compromises if they play hardball just walk away and even if they call you back refuse all offers if they are not your original demand. You will find out who want to sell and is a real salesmen and who is just an order taker (most are just order takers).
So to clarify Mercedes commercial vans are not necessarily fancy. They are just the work vans. A lot of people think they are fancy cause it’s a Mercedes. Trust me I’ve been working on them for 16 years. Congratulations on your new van tho
Are you shopping in NJ for your next van? I'm right across the river from Burlington, Nj in PA
Wow so I ended up ordering that exact same model and year in January 2021. I got it for 38K which was actually high bc before Covid these went for low 30K I believe. This was during peak of Covid so everything was backed up and didn't actually receive it until late April 2021. I know in 2022 If I wanted to sell my van used it was selling for 50+K but damn didn't realized inflation was that crazy.
Cool
You do such a wonderful job, informing, educating us and conveying all the information in such an understanding and relatable way. Thank you so much for all your videos. (Just HAD to say it.) ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🥰
Tory, You made a good choice at a reasonable price. IMHO, when buying used your best option is to buy a Promaster van. 2500 is good but 3500 is better for the added permanent weight. The maintenance and repairs on a Mercedes Sprinter van are much higher with fewer dealerships around the country for servicing & repairs. If buying new, I would recommend buyers take a serious look at the new Ford Transit vans. Ford dealerships are everywhere for servicing and repairs and my understanding is the build-out is easier because of the square interior walls. Enjoy. I look forward to watching your second build. (BTW, I enjoy watching all your videos but your reverse image portions seem kinda confusing. Makes it look like you bought a right-hand drive vehicle.)
Thank you for commenting this, I finally googled how to make my phone stop doing the reverse image and figured it out... after almost a year of filming 😅 So it shouldn't happen anymore!
Also, this is really great advice, thanks for sharing!
How come you sold the maroon van for the white one, if they are similar length? Just curious!
Fix Or Repair Daily. There is a reason people say that is what FORD stands for. Found On Road Dead, too.
I see so many van lifers buying these and I always shake my head when they do. These vans do not have 4 wheel drive and get stuck very a lot. I would hate to be that limited to where I could drive my van safely. Also for that kind of money you could just buy a used RV and have a much better experience.
I got a bunch of iou on my van like a spare key, spare tire, they still not fix the door sensor issues. I been trying to get my van from February and took till end of June.
wow that ram looks exactly like a Fiat Ducato the most popular van in Italy
You know for less than that secondhand van you could have brought a brand new chevy van. It might not be the high ceiling van but it would have been cheaper and come with the assurances and warranties of a brand new vehicle.
Good job Tory, you have to do your due diligence because these establishments aren't there to lend a helping hand but to look after there own rears and if you don't like there details just walk out and guess what they'll be calling back. Dealerships do hate when customers are educated so that's a big plus to you. Congrats on your new purchase definitely gonna love seeing the build journey play out.
Nice Van.
Thank you!!
I would’ve told him I’m going to take my insurance business elsewhere, and I would’ve made sure that you knew exactly why.
You're Awesome 👌
