@@TheWandererOTR I beg to differ with you, collective bargaining is a negotiation. The motorcarrier act of 1980 has specific rules in it that have been broken. Therefore a lawsuit is the best way to go. They’re supposed to pay freight bills within seven days therefore, there will be no need for factoring. You have a right to see the freight bill that’s in black-and-white. The purpose of it was to have free enterprise so everyone could bid on a load there for companies like JB Hunt can’t go in and make a contract with the shipper. You’d be advised to get a copy of that and read it yourself or have your lawyer read it and also read the constitution because she getting screwed six ways to Sunday.

I am 80 years old and have owned trucks for 60 years. I have seen good times and I have seen shitty times. I have driven millions of miles myself. I still have an unrestricted CDL, but I don't drive much myself. Getting drivers to unite is like trying to herd cats. Freight rates were crazy high 3 years ago. Lotsa people went out and paid way too much for trucks. Now we have too many trucks completing for less freight. Until the industry gets weeded out, we are going to have shitty rates. It sounds cruel, but this how economics works. I probably won't own trucks much longer because of my age. Neither of my kids have any interest in the business. And I am glad they have no interest. It has always been a tough business. All of my good drivers are about retirement age. Young people just don't want to drive any more.

And are they pre emissions 07 or older as I will not buy anything made after 07 up to and including gliders due to them using crappy blocks on the rebuilt motors as the glider market got so popular they started using blocks that previously they would not have used. Anyway been in it 36 yrs now and plan on hopefully making it another 10 to 15 but then I'll be done unless my grandsons want to do it at which time I'll teach them what I know. There are a lot of drivers from other countries that received grants for their CDL school grants to start up a freight business and fuel grant every month. If our country relies on truckers why give it away to immigrants with no sense of pride in country??? Unless it was a tactic to corrupt our industry? USPS pays brokers and pays for freight even when the truck is completely empty from Georgia to Los Angeles. Who is paying for that other than the tax payers. The drivers got paid 25 cpm but the carrier got over 5k for an empty load and broker got paid by USPS in other words the tax payers. Brother things are upside down.

Here's the thing... if you don't have a trade and are working at a grocery store, fast food, some low paying construction job, etc, you can go into trucking and get some freedom and make more money than you're used to making. There's alot of people out there like this that can come into the industry and drive an automatic truck and be rolling in one month. There is an endless supply of future drivers out there. I wish there was a solution to the problem with lower wages and shitty working conditions! Automatic transmissions coupled with desperate people looking for higher wages than they are used to is the future.

Bingo as long as the megas can keep turning out drivers at .45 cents a mile they will keep rates low. It’s not the brokers it’s the megas and endless drivers coming in and out of the industry. The easier the trucks are to drive the less demand a truck driver offers. It’s becoming a low skilled job. Especially if they start driving themselves and the driver just sits on his ass.

Billy come to Ohio, WV and PA, the oilfield here is the same thing. I’ve sat for 3 days on a load without pay, food, water, just me and the food I had in my truck.
To make it worse now all dispatchers treat us with attitude, force us to take loads threatening to blacklist us if we refuse. Forcing us to take a 11miles load deadheading 60miles.

Yawn , I have been saying for years if truckers really stood together and just stopped the world for a few days things would change in a hurry verses smaller groups pecking at it for years ... they say if you want change you have to be willing to make changes yourself , change your habit of just rubbing off the footprints from being walked on stand up and do something about.

They can’t afford to not go out and work because the banks are gonna come looking for trucks, but we do carry the economy on our backs and if we can join together all of us in unison and we can make a difference, one of the prime difference that we can make is getting paid correctly but every action has a reaction and if we are being paid correctly then prices will rise a lot more than they already are and that’s just one issue. I really hope that we can get some traction with this.
