I had this issue on one of my previous cars. The sensor was £250 and the exhaust needed to be dropped to access it (stupid Ford design) so I didn't replace it. This issue just came up on my Astra so I was very concerned that it would be hard and expensive. Glad to see how simple and cheap it is compared. Thanks.
Hi hv problem with astra j 2010 getting slow while driving & engine stopped by self & coolant pipes getting very hot & hot water coming out..ask mechanic he said Ho2 cancer circuit need to change any advice plz
It's best to heat the sensor up with heat gun and give the threads a few sprays with wd40, they are prone for stripping threads out if it's cold, they are supposed to come with heat proof paste for the threads but it dries up over time, I've replaced hundreds of these.
Dear Al I'm working on a friend's A16XER engine in a 1.6 Astra. The OBD refers to 'bank 1' / 'bank 2. but I don't know which is which. ???? Intake is at rear and exhaust front. Perhaps you can clarify ? Many thanks, JW (North Tyneside)
Honestly I’ve got all the paperwork. MOT failed and told me need a new Cat Converter and that will cure the management light. New Cat and sensors £300 and still that error code. I bought my sensors off eBay £24 each. Cat was £250 and mechanic kept my old one that didn’t need replacing. So I’m still stuck with this error code, any idea if this causes excess fuel and slight sluggish. I’ve got a Zafira. Thanks
Hi, I dont get error codes but I do get alerts in I/M Ready test. CAT HRT and O2 are showig with issues. Replaced the sensor pre CAT and the HRT is now showing OK, I am going to replace the post cat sensor (i assume its the same as the pre cat one?). Any idea if that will clear the 2 other issues or do I need to replace a further 2 sensors? Car is a 2008 1.8 Zafira btw
What were your symptoms running this car with a bad O2 sensor? I don’t have a Check Engine light on but I do suspect one or both of my O2 sensors are dead or dying.
Hi is there a difference between the sensor you have in your video which has gaps in the sensor piece which has a temporary cap on it in your video to the one that looks identical but has a rounded stump with no gaps in the sensor?? I'm not sure what the difference is and if it makes any difference. I have the same fault code for Vauxhall Meriva 1.6 and not sure which to buy.
i have a question for you, did you face any trouble when you try to plug in the new sensor to socket? i bought Denso Dox-2003 sensor and for some reason the harness socket did not fit probably! any idea. i have Astra h 2008 1.6 L petrol
You missed out the part with the swearing and the bleeding and the praying, i.e. actually getting the bloody thing to come out without smashing lumps out of your engine.
hi there. just wondering were did you get your o2 sensor 2 from for w4 pound :-). I've been looking for one but my price on euros come at around 64 pound :-( a link for a 1.6 twinport astra h would be good. :-) great video thank you.
Can i just say i bought brand new one from ebay for £25. and its caused more problems that before. So please be vigilant where you buy cheap parts from
Ian Carr could be a dpf issue put a dog cleaner in your tank if your cars diesel I had this issue and since I’ve been putting dpf cleaner in my tank the cars not gone into limp mode
This is the pre cat sensor which is the closest one to the engine within the engine bay. Don't buy a cheap o2 sensor like me as it could cause you more problems.
Fuck sake At least the Astra has a bit of room underneath.. My Mrs tigra is in the same place and seized solid... Can't fit my impact underneath or a decent 1/2 ratchet and can't get the leverage as no room. Debating taking the entire exhaust off
Please visit and ask any questions through the website www.diagnostic-world.com/
Hi champ.
Where can I get the diagnostic equipment from.
I'd love to erase my engine light.

Hey I had the exact same problem as you, bought the correct o2 cleared the fault on the ODB & it’s come up again, any ideas?
Is it diesel and have you done a DPF cleaning run?
Hi...
Do you have a link to where I can get the both sensors? Thanks.
You didn't even show the process of changing the sensor.
Unplug it, unscrew it. Screw in news sensor, plug in new sensor.

Thank you so much for this - had the same fault on my wifes Zafira. Helped alot.
Hi is this rear sensor the same as the front sensor 1?

Sluggish slightly and I get a crackling noise on accelerating

Just took my Zaf to a mechanic and asked him to put a new one of these on. He changed the EGR valve instead. 🙄
Think I'll do it myself...
Is this a common fault in 2006 model mines gone twice now.
What was the simptom in your car?
Is the location the same for an Astra j 2010?

Hi mate what was the name of the 22 bit to take the sensor off

@@staceymoore1576 same here. I brought a cheap one from Ebay for about £24 and it caused more issues than it was worth.
yes it's better to give little bit more money for car parts
Some are only here to see how difficult it is to remove and you skip that part lol 😂
I have a Astra h vxr 2006 I have a po170 fuel trim bank 1 code pop up. Finding it really hard to know which sensor to buy. Any help plz lol

Hi Can you help me Opel Astra 2005 I have the problem of engine light working
Would the emissions light turn off by itself after a while or do you have to erase the code?
Darren Barnes you usually need to erase it.
Hi, Why i can find O2 sensor starting from 25 pounds up to 160 pounds!! ?
brand and quality ...
this one foe 20 pounds can die at first month , better is to give little more money for o2 sensor , save time.. cheers
Would this cause the car to go into limp mode?

I would recommend checking the connector and wiring that the sensor plugs into, could have a short somewhere.

tool or an adjustable spanner
Hi I have p0130 wwhich one sensor is??
Thanks!

Hi could this cause the car to cut out during acceleration?
The 02 sensor affects the fuel/air ratio so it's possible but you'll most likely see poor fuel mileage.
Check your coil pack
I bought it for 10.49£ from ebay with 1 year warranty
Is this a code 89
Good stuffs
Cheers mate 👍
In the engine where it exists sensor opal astra 2005
Thankyou so much
This is new sensor is for front .
You don't even tell us what was the car doing before
