I've been crocheting since 1964... Celtic, Bosnian, Turkish, Tunisian, even Japanese... you name it. But this Carribean crocheting is a mind-goggler indeed. Enjoyed every single stitch of it. Thanks for sharing and greetings from Heidelberg, Germany
I started this pattern at the beginning of July and just finished it! I'm making it for my grandma for her 80th birthday. I'm giving it to her on Friday and I can't wait!!
I didn’t even know mosaic designs existed until I saw a photo of this blanket on Instagram. Started searching and found your tutorial. Followed your instructions and made the sample swatch. Had to rip out several rows because of errors but was determined to learn this! Finished it and it’s beautiful! Ahh! I had no idea I could do this! Thank you soooo much for this tutorial! It’s given me confidence to keep going. Bought the pattern last night and headed to the yarn store!
I don't normally comment on here, however, I thought it appropriate. I am fairly new to mozaic crochet and have tried varying videos (I learned to crochet via RUclips), but this video is so easy to follow. I shall definitely be making more of these. Thanks for teaching me something new 😊
After 50 years of crocheting, this is the first mosaic I've tried. Amazing. I really love the border and will be using it for all my blankets from now on. Fantastic for hiding all those ends.
I have been crocheting for over 60 years and wow this is beautiful. didn't understand one word of following the chart. i will look back and see if you have one for beginners. Thanks for sharing.
This is the FIRST blanket I have ever FINISHED!! I love it so much! I used “I love this yarn” from hobby lobby and Caron Latte Cakes in Blackberry! It came out so soft and Gorgeous!!! Thank you so much!!
I’m new to mosaic crochet ( 2days) and I’m obsessed already I just went and bought this pattern. I can’t wait to start it. Thankyou so much. Keep being awesome and Thankyou from lisa in the Uk.
My mother teached me to crochet 30 years ago, and I just started two pillo cases with this technique, it's simply hypnotic. The result is stuning. Thanks.
I've been crocheting 6 years ago and it's my first time to mosaic crochet, I have always been afraid of trying this type but really I Love the pattern and the instructions are easy to follow and love your colors ❤️❤️ thanks for your effort and for sharing this tutorial with us
Just finished my first mosaic crochet ever. Took me a while but got there in the end. Found the edging a challenge with all them ends. Can’t wait to start on my next project. Thank you for the very well explained video.
I’m 60 and I’ve never heard about this stitch, it’s amazing the way it goes, and the border is super too, I will try to do one someday, you teach so well 💜👌
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I’ve been wanting to learn mosaic crochet so badly and I finally decided to try with you and I can’t believe how much easier it is then I imagined thanks to your perfect way of explaining !
I instantly subscribed after 2 minutes of hearing how you teach this pattern! I love how you taught how to read the pattern. More videos and patterns to look forward. Super thank you
Your video popped up in my queue and I am so glad it did! I'm not new to mosaic crochet but I have learned something new with adding the 2 chains at the beginning and end of each row. This is also the first time I've seen someone use the Furl crochet hook. I may just have to break down and buy one. It just glides throw the stitches. Looking forward to watching all your videos!
Great pattern and instructions, thank you! Just sharing my favourite trick for the double borders in case it’s helpful to others…. For the front and back set-up rounds (into the slip stitch round), I use a Tunisian hook as these are generally much more pointed than a regular crochet hook. The first side isn’t much of a problem, but it makes a huge difference when working the chain stitch round for the second time on the opposite side, especially useful if the chain stitches have been worked a little tight.
I always get intimidated by this type blankets but you have shown me how EASY this actually is! Thank you so very much for sharing your beautiful work with all of us. I like the way you explained the pattern. God bless and keep on creating. 🌺🌿🌺
This just got saved under MJ’s off the hook, as well as under elegant. Hoping to do this one in the near future for sure. If The Lord tarries and He be willing. But it is definitely in my plans.
I’ve got a couple of other mosaic blanket patterns in my queue, but I believe this one just jumped in line ahead of them. I love both color options you presented, but the original in the blue shades is just stunning! Thank you.
Thank you very much for this tutorial! I made one simple coaster in this pattern with the double border and it looks very 😍. This is my first project in mosaic crochet and I hope that I will make more
Thank you so much for the super clear tutorial and this lovely edging. I am just starting it and am blown away at how NEAT the edges end up with just the slip stitch part of the border, at the begining of the double border- - - I can't wait to add it to my edging techniques ; ]
You can in our Facebook community group! We love to see photos of your work and you can ask all of your pattern support questions as well☺️ facebook.com/groups/363218121026907/
A rectangular wrap done with a gradient yarn and white or gray would be just right for me! Or maybe a bright variegated and either white or black. Maybe both!
This is Beautiful. Thank you for a great video. I'm new to Mosaic pattern. But the way you show it, I can't wait to make this Throw. Love also how you do your borders to hide the ends. Very clever.
Das sieht ganz fantastisch aus, auch die Farbkombination !! Ich hab es erst mal gespeichert, momentan nicht die Zeit dafür. Vielen Dank für das tolle Video 👍👍❤❤
I had to pause real quick and say, thank you. Not just for the tutorial, I'm still just getting into the video. I just wanted to say, I have watched literally dozens of other crocheters on RUclips and they all have the thread running across (or even wrapped around) the Index finger. I've tried SO MANY TIMES to do that, but I always end up with it running over my middle finger, preferring the control my index affords my thumb when holding my work. You are the first person I've ever seen that does this, and I feel... so vindicated, lol! I'm sure this might sound silly, but I just had to say something. Anyway, resuming the video, lol!
This is a brilliant tutorial. I started it and I was skeptical at first, thinking I would do it wrong. But seeing the pattern magically emerge was so satisfying! Thanks.
Beautiful work & great instructions. My only suggestion would be to position the camera a bit lower so the actual crocheting is more centered. Several times throughout the video, it's hard to see the position of the hook & which stitch is being worked into. I kept trying to tilt up the screen, lol, as if it was a 360° view tutorial.
This is a new pattern/technique for me and it looks great! Once I finish my current projects I will make one of these. Thank you for making it so simple.
I did a mosaic pattern in a dish clothe to practice. I think I would like to do a blanket.. just need to decide on a pattern. Thank you for the tutorials.
I'm glad I watched to the end... "You gotta do what you gotta do" somehow changed my perception of you. Perhaps it's that some crochet designers can seem a bit posh to me considering I've been at this for 38 years. Regardless, I've always loved your designs and now I'm excited to watch your other videos. 💙🧶
Thank you for beautiful pattern. I have some mosaic patterns bought and have held off starting them, but this tutorial showing how to read the pattern has given me the confidence to go ahead. I have saved this RUclips so I can refer back to it if need be👍❤️ This is also the first mosaic tutorial that shows the chain 2 at the beginning and how to hide the ends in the border 😀 Genius! Lol Saves weaving them all in 👍
This pattern is beautiful!! I just wish you would show more of what you are doing and what stitch goes where. Not fully on camera to be able to see step by step. I had to go back so many times just to catch on to the pattern. Other than that I love your work!!!
That's a beautiful stitch. I love what you did with it. I can almost smell the ocean. I've made a double border, but never saw anyone else do so. It makes an afghan or throw feel so much more substantial, doesn't it? I keep a small steel hook (size 0) handy for when I have to work very tight stitches. I use it only to pull the yarn through, then continue with the correct size hook. It's so much easier than digging around with a hook that doesn't fit into the stitch.
this is such a wonderful blanket which i absolutely wanted to do…but i just didn’t understand the pattern so i made my own with just Xs and blanke squares…no black or white color and that works great for me now…thanks for a great video
Beautiful pattern! Bought it straightaway but moving house so the making of it will have to wait until in new house but looking forward to it! Love the blue colours!
I purchased the pattern and can't wait to get started. But can you please slow down just a bit? I was also confused as to certain aspects of the pattern and had to get clarification on the Facebook group, ie, when I'm working a white row and come to a black square do o chain or single chain. If you could make this more clear, and perhaps slow down just a tad this would be absolutely perfect! Thank you for a fabulous pattern, can't wait to start!
I'm a semi new crocheter, but I'm going to try this pattern on a smaller scale. I'm hoping to make a hat with the same pattern. Idk, might come out bad since I've never done mosaic crocheting before, but no time like the present.
Omg MJ I was sooo confused. I'm sorry. I didn't understand how you were reading the pattern. Do you have a video on how to interpret the Patterns? I don't understand how you knew where to do the drop down. Keeping the pattern in the shot is helpful. Thanks for the videos 😊

I really want to make this! I bought the Granite ridge pattern by mistake because I didn't realize there were 2 different ones. I don't use bulky yarn! Now I need to go thru my stash and figure out if I have enough of 3 colors. It may end up being 4 or 5 colors depending on what I have
wow nice, just 1 question, if you do only 18 stitches and there are 23 on sheet, I am I missing something than ? but again very good explained thank you
A DOUBLE BORDER! Who'd have thunk it! Brilliant way to hide all the ends.

It is mosaic crochet. The name of the pattern is Caribbean Coast. It isn't Caribbean crocheting.
