I think Mike is one of the most original sounding guitarists around. I have a masters of music performance and I am still amazed by his choice of voicings. I love his playing. And believe it or not though he doesn't solo often he is one hell of a shredder.

    • @joshforest304

Absolutely, his solos are tasty, diverse, jazzy and always compliment the song.

its amazing. when i first started playing guitar I loved this guy. Then as time went on and I started moving away from his playing. Then, when i got better and wanted to find unique guitar players to learn off of, I came back to Mike. He's really truly amazing. Every part he writes is just incredible. My biggest influence right now

These guitar.com videos were great. There’s a whole bunch of them. I remember when these first started making their way around the Internet. The low quality of the video, graphically speaking, the indispensable amount of information, the coolness.
Oh yeah. And dial up Internet. Ahh the good old days.
I recommend watching Zakk Wylde’s video, too

Cool because he can wail, be weird, and write smooth emotional music all at once. Guys just got a highly creative mindset. Guy is one of the most underrated guitarist ever.

Lot of free resources online from finding instruments to instruction - I linked to this clip of Mike which was well-received so it holds a place in my heart.
