The time signature on the verses switches between 4/4 (common time), single measures of 5/8, and an occasional measure of 2/4 (cut time). This is what leads to that off-kilter feeling.
Mudvayne has some great rhythms and beats. It’s amazing to watch their bassist, Ryan Martinie, work is magic. The dude is insane. There is a video of only him during the making of their music video for “Dig” 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼 The seemingly conflicted voices are him and his demons struggling against each other.
Finally a Mudvayne reaction!! Underrated band from the Nu Metal wave back then, other great songs to react to : Dig (uncensored version), Happy?, Determined, Forget To Remember, World So Cold, Per(version) Of A Thruth, Skrying, Silenced, Death Blooms, Beautiful And Strange
Mudvayne are masters at syncopated discordance, often having multiple time signatures for base/guitar/drums and lyrics. A classic example of this is the track "Nothing to Gein", which is already weird enough being a sort of tribute song to the Ed Gein, serial killer and bodysnatcher.
Can't praise this song enough. Drum, bass, guitar and vocals. Phenomenal. Lyrics are excellent too. I saw Mudvayne in 2000. They opened for Slipknot and System Of A Down. I was so eager to hear Death Blooms live. Obviously, at a time when we couldn't jump online a find 70 live performances in 10 seconds. They were so, so good live. System and Slipknot were incredible too.
The time signature for "Not Falling" changes up between the verses and chorus that's probably why it feels unsettling or off-kilter. I think the "I, I stand..." part with the "for nothing" echoes is actually the chorus and not the verse.
I completely forgot about Mudvayne! Loved them back in highschool. Bass line is fun, and I'm glad his Warwick tone comes through in the mix. Side note, the flow of the verse might seem of different, as while it is in 4/4, they throw a measure of 5/8 and 2/4 in.
Still one of my fav Math-Metal bands, along with Taproot and Tool. There was a great joke from Matt (the drummer) in an interview: "I made a joke early on in Mudvayne's career that we used an abacus in writing." There's an original music vid for this song that's hard to find now, and I kinda preferred it
I think you trying to describe the time signature, the beat is broken into odd numbers during the verses, which makes the chorus slam harder when they go to a straight even time signature. and groove.
More Mudvayne please. Back in 96'ish all my musician friends started hearing about Mudvayne..... but we just couldn't get ahold of their recorded music for another few years. If you think about the time period and the bands that were popping they had a lot of competition. Something about them really affected my playing across the board. I was primarily on guitar at that time but drove me back to bass for a while. Ryan Martinie is a fukn legend now. Check out Chad singing for Hell Yeah when you get a chance too. They are highly overlooked but highly respected by their peers and a lot of us rocker musicians. Please do more.
Great personality, was introduced to you in the Arcane S2 music reactions. Really curious to see you react to Two Feet (choose whatever topic that catches your attention).
need some - hollywood undead, hellyeah, like a storm, blink 182, escape the fate, hatebreed, drowning pool, rise against, pop evil, the offspring, bowling for soup, theory of a deadmad, redlight king need more - slipknot, korn, 5fdp, stone sour, three days grace, papa roach, foo fighters, bullet for my valentine, halestorm, all that remains, green day, seether, shinedown, thousand foot krutch, black veil brides, nonpoint, mudvayne
more mudvayne - scream with me, do wat you do, dig, death blooms, happy, fall into sleep, forget to remember, world so cold, never enough, nothing to gein, severed, shadow of a man, dull boy wicked by at most fear, betrayed within by pareidolia, jester by lyria. i don't care, i'm not jesus, not strong enough by apocalyptica
The thing about Mudvayne official music video is pretty much all of them are edited and censored to hell. Some missing entire sections compared to the album version.
I know you may not see this, but I think you should give a song called “Bury the Light” By Casey Edward’s a listen. Just thought I’d comment and maybe by some miracle you would see it 😭
The bassist is Ryan Martinie, one of the best there is. He taps on his bass like EVH did on his guitar. If you like the costumes they are wearing, watch the official video for "Dig", But I suggest you have a lyric sheet because Chad spits those lyrics quickly.
@@dark_storm76 Hells yeah. Seeing him live on stage is riveting , not only with his instrument handling but his body language as he plays. Dude is insane 🤘
It's too bad they couldn't figure out how to get their audio figured out who knows what the singer is actually singing about is saying who knows okay and Wellness and
the singer Chad Gray is in another band called hellyeah its a supergroup that also had Vinnie Paul of pantera on drums. x, hush, moth, human, love falls, 333, welcome home, oh my god, i don't care anymore (cover), sangre por sangre (blood for blood), demons in the dirt, scratch a lie, be unden!able, you wouldn't know, hellyeah, hell of a time, black December, cross to bier (cradle of bone)
You remind me of maybe something that maybe a junior higher baby first year in high school kid would like or something you know but it is not that good and their sound quality and their voice quality is not that good they haven't got it figured out or in sink and you can't even tell what the singer saying and well the water singing about is in anything new it's ain't anything that ain't been sung about over and over and over and over and over again
This group has one of the most underrated bass players in Rock!!
Ryan is a beast!!
Yeah I agree
your not wrong, every song is insane on the bass.
Ya their backbone (drums & bass) are S tier
Same with the drummer. Dude is a rhythmic beast
There song ,World so cold, is a good one too.
🔥🤘🏽🔥
Just don’t react to the music video! It cuts out most of the song lol
Happy ..dope song too
This was exactly the song I was thinking of... Great for reaction!
The time signature on the verses switches between 4/4 (common time), single measures of 5/8, and an occasional measure of 2/4 (cut time). This is what leads to that off-kilter feeling.
This is my favourite band. I have been a fan since I saw" Dig " music video when it first came out in 2000.
Same..
Severed or Death Blooms are the songs to check out from these guys. Severed is a trip and the lyrics would be fun to see you react too.
Fall into Sleep slaps so hard i woke up yesterday
🤣
I love this song since I watch "Ghostship" in the theaters...
That soundtrack was awesome...
Great Rayaction! Other amazing songs from Mudvayne, World So Cold, Happy? and Severed.
Love some Mudvayne, Pantera, Slipknot music.

Mudvayne LFG !!🔥🔥🔥

Body snacker
If the song sounds familiar it's because it's the main song for the movie The Ghost Ship.
Can't praise this song enough. Drum, bass, guitar and vocals. Phenomenal. Lyrics are excellent too. I saw Mudvayne in 2000. They opened for Slipknot and System Of A Down. If you want a confronting song from Mudvayne, world so cold.
I was introduced to this band being a horror movie fanatic. This is the theme song for GHOST SHIP
This is my favorite Mudvayne song!
Great song from my favorite Mudvayne album! You could honestly react to the entire album and be satisfied
Still one of my fav Math-Metal bands, along with Taproot and Tool.

Mudvayne definitely got some bangers 🔥🔥🤘🤘
It must be nearly 22 years since I bought the album, and I haven't heard it in ages, but this was one of my favorites on it.
I love chads voice
I've always said... if I could scream like Chad... I'd order my drive thru meals like this...🗣📢🎶🎶🎶
More Mudvayne please.

I loved this song when I was about 15❤
Still can’t get over that he fell off the stage while singing this
I believe the word you were looking for is dissonant.
I kinda wish the video was the Ghost Ship version of the song
World so cold by mudvayne next!
The thing about Mudvayne official music video is pretty much all of them are edited and censored to hell. Some missing entire sections compared to the album version.
You should watch the original video of this song

Hello Ray... React Tame Impala Vital Signs❤

Ryan gets attention but not nearly as much as he deserves! dude is amazing!
@@dark_storm76 Hells yeah. Seeing him live on stage is riveting , not only with his instrument handling but his body language as he plays. Dude is insane 🤘
The ghost ship video of this song is better.
It's too bad they couldn't figure out how to get their audio figured out who knows what the singer is actually singing about is saying who knows okay and Wellness and
give me a reasion by dimas senopati
Tempo!
Album version better (not alot of difference but longer break down)
the singer Chad Gray is in another band called hellyeah its a supergroup that also had Vinnie Paul of pantera on drums. x, hush, moth, human, love falls, 333, welcome home, oh my god, i don't care anymore (cover), sangre por sangre (blood for blood), demons in the dirt, scratch a lie, be unden!able, you wouldn't know, hellyeah, hell of a time, black December, cross to bier (cradle of bone)
That's Ryan Martini, the Bassist not guitarist. And yeah... He's amazing!
It's the edited version, lame
